Christianity does well because it's a message constructed specifically to defy anything and everything, and if it's successful in becoming someone's source of inspiration / hope, takes credit for anything and everything. Proselytizing is also something most religions actually don't do, Christianity ties it too morality itself. Using Christian as in I've actually read the Bible. I know there's self identified Christians who don't subscribe to these things, not denying that they have faith, but a choice to contradict what your holy book says doesn't change what it says. That being able to be weapomized by selfish actors with their own agendas never hasn't been a problem.
I did “missionary” work in Brazil when I was a part of The Assemblies of God. I loved the Brazilian people and Brazil is beautiful and I hope I impacted some good but what a weird way to think about this now seeing this and having left the church long ago.
Fica tranquila, as Igrejas do Brasil não é isso que eles mostram. Temos Igrejas sérias no Brasil, mas a mídia ama pintar um país menos desenvolvido de ingênuo e oportunista.
Bad education may play a part, but is not the key factor. See for example a lot of people with graduate level who support Bolsonaro. Vulnerability is indeed a more important factor.
The reason is simple: part of our brain hasn't developed since the early days of humankind; it still thinks we live the way our early ancestors, many Brazilians still have pre-historic brains
Religion is great for the believers and gives them a strong social structure and I have no issue with people exercising their faith.... UNTIL they start insisting I live in accordance with their beliefs. I don't care which religion it is; as long as they leave me to live my life as I choose, I'm fine with it.
Are the people speaking here against evangelicals doing anything to help the country? Look at what this video showed: 1.someone went to prison to tell a prisoner to live a life of love for others and transformation. 2. People go to needy communities to distribute food and pray for others to have the faith to face the difficult situations in their lives. Yes, there are people who preach Christianity for the wrong reasons; this has always happened. But what it shows is that more have done good for the country, showing a new way of living, helping in education, and sharing what they have to help the needy. In reality, Christianity talks about loving your neighbor, helping with their needs, and leading a life of responsibility and joy.

I have to agree. As an Evangelical myself with many trips to Brasil I was waiting to call out your gross bias (I guess we all have some) but I found the report pretty accurate. I would only add that Liberation Theology also has influence in LatAm and perhaps some juxtaposition with that might might possibly been a nice offset
Very interesting but it's important to remember that many use Christianity for personal gain, whereas true Christian is about becoming a new creation through faith in Jesus and repentance.
As a Brazilian, I can say how scary it´s been. It´s the start of new medieval age to Brazi. They salute the old and wicked god from the old testament. And day by day pass to talk more about God and least about Jesus.
It’s so sad seeing this aspect of US culture spreading like a viral infection in South America, Africa, India… it’s a great formula for pastors to get super rich.
Brazil is in Jesus' hands. Oh God save our nation and set us free from all the darkness. We face so many difficulties here but the Gospel cannot stop to spread all over the nation. In Jesus name.

I understand the reflexive cynicism especially about mega churches but what about that pastor to the poor that they also featured, providing food and hope where the state fails. He’s a hypocrite too?
I think they are getting more religious, because with the internet access, they understand better their beliefs. I was an atheist because I did not know well what was philosophy/theology/metaphysics, I had misconceptions of epistemology and what Catholic was. I believed in a bunch myths about the Church, for example. And I am young!
I'm not an atheist, but I wish our world had more secular spaces that provide community, psychological support, and a sense of meaning. People need these things, but it seems like the only options are organized religions and straight-up cults.
I love how evangelichals who defend state religion (i am evangelichal and i dont support it) often forget it was the protestants who passed the secular state law in the constitution in 1890. Although it was beign planned since 1882 but was paused by a republican coup

And they are wrong. People who say this dont know how donations work, its open for public inspection, and announced on TV shows, every expense from every penny from donations, and pretty much every single time it goes for maintaince of churches snd religious sites, expansion of those same sites and modernizations but most importantly alot of funds are diverted for both federal and independent social programs, yes there are corrupt members but every time they are arrested so yeah.

For both Christianity and Islam, it's basically the outward projections of desires and ego of an individual or group of individuals that gives rise to the belief that God/Allah exists and they have the right version of his "contract" with humanity and they're not subjectively, but factually "true". If they could just search for themselves, they would find more "truths" and insights about life than with these dumb beliefs which are an irritant to the world.
Yep. Kinda like the majority of all ideologies out there. Confucianism is defined by the desire to maintain harmony thru social hierarchy, while Marxism is defined by their desire for classless society and disdain of bourgeoisie, Fascism by their ultra-patriotism and desire to serve their society/nation, Humanism by their narrowminded self-righteousness, Daoism by the balance and harmony in all things, Stoicism by preserverance in the face of adversity, etc. The central theme of 3 Abrahamic religions is simple: the call for its adherents to return to humanity's "original purpose". In Judaism it is thru purifying yourself by living a good life according to Torah, in Christianity by following the Christ, and in Islam by submiting oneself to god thru Quran. Which is not that different to Dharmaic religion (Hinduism & Buddhism) actually. I mean it's like the way to Moksha after all.
And what are those truths about dumb belief than i might to say that believing in real god who walked on earth as Jesus Christ 2000 years ago rather than some idols and stones

I never had this type of disrespect coming from the other religions, not even from the Mainline Protestants, but garage church joeys thought they were the ones who knew better than everyone else!
Evangical Christians is a force to reckon with especially here in the US.
And in Latinamerica, unfortunately.
@@tukayz254God should not be represented by these demagogic religions.

Cuz vulnerability makes it easier for pastors to hire new slaves
Bad education
Bad education may play a part, but is not the key factor. See for example a lot of people with graduate level who support Bolsonaro. Vulnerability is indeed a more important factor.
When did you ever give something to the poor ? So why can’t good people help? When you need really bad that’s when you will meet with god
Because nobody else cares about them
About people giving 10% of their salary "... But the pastor says he's not in for profit, but for faith" 😂😂😂
Sure, sure... Not in for the money.. 😂😂😂

Porque vc está asim porque eles estão engolindo o País.
Are the people speaking here against evangelicals doing anything to help the country?
Look at what this video showed:
1.someone went to prison to tell a prisoner to live a life of love for others and transformation.
It's easy to manipulate a people with so little education and hope.
Sad but true

Of course it sounds. Evangelicals shit is just a copy from the american mainland

This kind of religious cult makes me remember that tiktok screenshot girl: "I believed in god as a kid and felt so moved during worship, then I went on a one direction concert and felt the same thing and realized I just like live music"
Some people on this kind of church just need a community that they can feel they belong to, and the leaders of religions know that...

The problem is the Brazilian context of inequality, lack of education, poverty and state abandonment. In this context, religious leaders who focus heavily on solidarity and social work are admirable. But they will never be as successful as those who explore the theology of prosperity and dominion.
As an evangelical Brazilian, I am aware of the subject. In my opinion, I am against the forced donation of tithes or exorbitant amounts of money to a church. I'm not in favor of what Silas Malafaia does with. I am in favor of humble work and a praise to GOD dedicated through our Lord JESUS without wanting money. But I believe that values contrary to the Bible must be neutralized based on our principles. If a Catholic, evangelical or even an Orthodox person has read the Bible seriously, they know what is permitted and what is not. All of us, as Christians, must serve GOD with humility, without forced monetary impositions.
