This video keeps getting reuploaded and its sad because we really need to start understanding why and how sex trafficking and child abuse happen since it is such an epidemic. I don't really know what else to say since watching this documentary I am at a loss for words as to why and how this could happen.
it's the worsening of the total global living environment(exploitation of the environment) The 'modernization', pollution, and extreme weather(overpopulation leads to over exploitation of nature under the needs of 'modern' development, that leaves no/little space/room for potential natural disasters) destroyed lots of ppl's livelihoods (bad weather reduced expected yields from fields, pollution makes ppl sick, more progressing/pollution make ppl feel their life more threatened,so under the animal instinct they do everything they can to keep their life afloat, then ppl/girls sold as cattle) (gold mines take nature/agriculture water/land/resources and bring pollution, expansion of rubber(trees) plantation, a form of nature (over)exploitation, plus bad weathers due to man-made climate shifts, leaves future generations less and less to live on), as you can see, it's mostly the old ppl exploiting the young ones, not vice verse It's a vicious circle, the progress of things in a certain direction under certain guidance(brainwashed/scammed modernization)
Not only is prostitution and pimping illegal in Thailand, so is paying prostitutes for sex, at any age-1996 suppression of prostitution act. Minors are under 18, they have to be 21 to even go in a bar.

With all those transient men worldwide, Ive often wondered about STD's, but it's never, ever addressed or even talked about... but it has to be rampant.
For starter, if YOU actually had ONE clue you would know that there is very little "foreigner" child sex trade in Thailand. The MAJORITY of the child sex trade is DOMESTIC and has NOTHING to do with foreigners at all. And if you were HONEST you would be reporting on the child sex trade in CAMBODIA. In fact, some "activists" like to go to child brothels in Cambodia with hidden cameras that - oddly enough - stop recording before they "do anything" (so you don't see what they REALLY do there). And then they clip the videos and pretend they were taken in Thailand to push their bullshit agendas. The vast majority of bars "for foreigners" in Thailand want NOTHING to do with underaged women, on their staff or on their premises. Because if they are caught they face prison and the establishment faces a 5 year ban. (Can't just change the name and re-open the next day either.) Sheesh, some years ago I went out with a mommasan, 2 dancers and 2 waitresses from a go-go bar one time. It was one of the girl's birthdays. We went to a Thai nightclub owned by the same person that owned the go-go bar. But they wouldn't let one of the dancers in because she was only 19. You see, you have to be 19 to WORK in the bar - but you have to be 20 to DRINK in the bar "as a customer" ! So even though she worked in a go-go bar - she wasn't allowed to drink in a regular bar ! And about 25 years ago I was sitting in a beer bar when someone noticed a squad of police officers coming down the street. One of the serving girls suddenly took off out the back and down the alley. Found out later from the manager, the girl had lied about her age and had used her sister's ID card when she applied for the job. The manager fired her and supposedly she went to work in a bar in the "Arab" section - because the police wouldn't go there at all. I've been visiting Thailand since 1993 and living here since 2004 and NEVER once been offered "underage" girls ANYWHERE in the country. There is a local "home" where children who were sex-trafficed are housed. A lot of Thais donate food and clothing to it. Myself and some of my friends will do a collection a couple times a year (on birthdays or other holidays) and take a truckload of food, "goodies", basic clothing items and sports equipment (soccer balls, badminton sets, etc) to the home. On average there seems to be about 30 kids there. Usually about 26-27 boys and 3-4 girls. All seem to be in the 8-12 year old range. I'm told they'd been "trafficked" by their parents and the police had rescued them. The parents go to prison and the kids go to the home. And that was ALL DOMESTIC trafficking. NOT trafficking kids to foreigners, but to people the parents owed money to, or wanted to buy drugs from.
Very thorough observation but still, Thailand fail to provide good human development and job opportunities for the people. The neighboring countries’ problems further complicate the situation. Thai politics and governance also partly to blame. 😢
@@kowitkuansongtham8029 there is likely more trafficking and CP in your own country. That's the point. They're making it like there is some epidemic of it in Thailand, linked to visiting Westerners. And that is a gross misrepresentation of the statistics and the facts
Half of this video is reuploaded material from the first part, and the new parts bring very little new information. Is this really the result of two years of investigation?
They should make this a life-in-prison sentence with no case for parole for adults caught abusing children, the bars that are working with children, and the officers that accept bribes for those who commit such crimes. It should be announced over the plane intercom that the penalty is life in Thai prison before taking off and landing. Like they do when you are flying into Singapore regarding drugs. I feel that would be a major deterrence. How can they have the death penalty and other really harsh sentences in some of these countries for using drugs, but you can come and abuse their children, and somehow that doesn't warrant the same penalty. I am so confused. Maybe it does, but I am not aware.
in thailand and many south east asia countries investigations typically takes 20 years for simple allegations for serious ones that involve the head of states, 200 years
Walking street is an alcoholics paradise. It is a infinitesimal part of a country that is full of happy, honest hard working people. Come to Pattaya for 2 weeks of debauchery and claim that is Thailand...small minded answer at best and only puts your narrow minded view of the world on display.
Usual sensationalism from DW. Your initial comment stated 'in many of these bars minors are being exploited'. Yet only one bar was mentioned in the video and this despite a two year investigation. Additionally the video of the tall foreigner with the small Thai woman features twice in this video. Same shot as in previous video, but this time it has been cut to omit the face of the Thai woman which clearly showed an older lady, not a young girl as is implied in the video. Shame on DW for perpetrating these false narratives.
The documentary is directed primarily at western audiences. This sort of documentary needs to be translated into Thai or directed to Thai audiences to have a positive impact. The "shame on Thailand" isn't a positive impact if most Thai people can't even watch and understand whatever is highlighted in the documentary. It's a problem for law enforcement in Thailand, and the scale of the problem is unknown, but this DW documentary doesn't help Thai police on anything. Does it help police set up a sting operation? Does reveal any actual crimes? From what I see it mostly makes Thailand look bad, like it's not enforcing the law or doing anything, but doesn't help Thailand to enforce it's laws or do anything in a better way. What legitimate outcome does the documentary want to achieve? A law change? Better law enforcement? Or is it just another documentary about "Thailand bad" etc? Bad stuff happens everywhere, so I don't think it's fair for Thailand to have this reputation when Germany has a red light district also, and so do other countries. What do they want done to stop it? And if they want something done, where should the funding come from? Is the German government going to help by sending police funded by Germany to help train police in Thailand if that is the issue?

Shut!!!!! Don't say that. It's not what the peoples want to hear in the west. This type of documentary wants to make the rest of the world believe that all foreigners who go to Pattaya or Phuket are all pedophile sexual perverts. They also want us to believe that all the girls who work in Pattaya are poor little victims who were forced to come and work there. Those who want to know the truth just have to come and check for themselves and spend at least a month or two there. I'm not saying that there isn't pedophilia, but there isn't more of it than in the rest of the world. In 25 years in Pattaya, I have never seen a child walking hand in hand with an old stranger. At minute 55 of the report you see a small woman from behind who is walking with a stranger. You want us to believe that this woman is very young when in fact there are many Thai women who are very small and very petite. You did not have the honesty to show her face because this woman in question is at least 30 years old. Just after you show a very young boy who sells chewing gum and how he could be a victim of pedophiles. This is bullshit, the mother is nearby and a lot of people know this kid. They would never let him go with a stranger to have sex. Instead of always going to Pattaya you should go to the many karaoke bars which are mostly, but not only, located in the towns along the borders of Laos, Cambodia and Myanmar...
It's very sad to hear this. She is sure of a gold digger. As a Thai woman I am, not all Thai women like that but some do. The more educated women the less they will think that way. You are in Pattaya That's why!
these young pretty girls can make more in one day than they make in a year in their rural villages...not hard to see why they come to Pattaya. Until you understand how poor the rural families in se asia are, you will never get it.
I am in noway condoning this. What I am saying is that many do not understand Thailand and its record keeping. So it is hard for regulators. That is apart from the level of corruption. Its endemic and will take generations to change.
I dont know about other counties, but citizens of Canada may not break Canadian laws even when outside of Canada. Why isn't the RCMP doing something about this?
You really have to wonder how children under the age of 18 are aloud to work in the open and very public bars in the first place. How many people are turning a blind eye to this, clearly there are many questions and I am sure the answers are shocking. Do the parents know? Do the police know? Does anybody know? I am sure many Thai people know. And the whole world knows when a foreigner is involved and amazingly large bribes are paid. What happens if most of the customers are Thais? Are Thais expected to pay large bribes to escape conviction or are people turning a blind eye? So many questions? The smart move is to stay away from anyone who looks young and to avoid these situations.
In Germany, prostitution is regulated, taxed, and even has sex worker unions. Yeah, fully agree! And I believe that a (large?) part of the Thai ladies of pleasure want to get out of the scene and prefer to find a loving, caring and financially stable foreign husband. Conversely, there's also die-hard bar girls, whom you can take out of the bar, but can't take the bar out of them.
I checked into some of this stuff and some families are so poor that they sell off their kids to survive and some have almost no choice but to give up a kid for depts to very powerful people

There isn't any such thing as child prostitution there's only child abuse. Prostitution involves consent between adults. As a former Merchant Marine I can tell you it's global. I can also tell you a lot of the world doesn't share a puritanical western view of the oldest profession. Respect everyone and they'll respect you.
so protect children who aren't mentally mature from sex tourists and greedy parents is wrong? What is so puritanical in that? So what if the rest of the world accepts it, just look at the rest of the world, it's a shit hole.
It appears Thai government doesn’t care nearly as much, since this is accepted within their culture. At the same time, Western countries are trying to pose our cultural norms upon them.
DW needs to investigate how much the Pattaya police chief has to pay upfront for his position and in monthly rental after that and where does the money go. Cops need to borrow from loan sharks at high interest rates to get these lucrative jobs. So what do you expect? The fish rots from the head down. The deputy police chief interviewed has been dismissed from the force for corruption but still walks around a free man with impressive assets.
The opposition Forward party, which actually won the 2023 election but was prevented from forming a government by vested interests, and was working on reform of prostitution has just been banned by the Constitutional Court and its leaders banned from politics for 10 years. The reform bill discussed here failed to pass its first reading in parliament. So forget about reform.

You are totally wrong. Tourists pay the kids to go away because they are annoying. They come to you and start pinching your arm or leg as hard as they can and won't stop. Yes the parents are A*sholes training their kids to do that. Poverty tends to make people creative.
The amount of money that the girls make is surprising. An average bar girl can make 50k USD a year tax free. The average Thai makes around 5k/year. You can see why it's attractive to many girls. Thai girls aren't abducted they're usually encouraged by their friends who are doing it.

This video keeps getting reuploaded and its sad because we really need to start understanding why and how sex trafficking and child abuse happen since it is such an epidemic. I don't really know what else to say since watching this documentary I am at a loss for words as to why and how this could happen.
it's the worsening of the total global living environment(exploitation of the environment)
The 'modernization', pollution, and extreme weather(overpopulation leads to over exploitation of nature under the needs of 'modern' development, that leaves no/little space/room for potential natural disasters) destroyed lots of ppl's livelihoods
(bad weather reduced expected yields from fields, pollution makes ppl sick, more progressing/pollution make ppl feel their life more threatened,so under the animal instinct they do everything they can to keep their life afloat, then ppl/girls sold as cattle)
(gold mines take nature/agriculture water/land/resources and bring pollution, expansion of rubber(trees) plantation, a form of nature (over)exploitation, plus bad weathers due to man-made climate shifts, leaves future generations less and less to live on), as you can see, it's mostly the old ppl exploiting the young ones, not vice verse
It's a vicious circle, the progress of things in a certain direction under certain guidance(brainwashed/scammed modernization)

The same man was arrested before. For being with a girl at the age of 15….
With all those transient men worldwide, Ive often wondered about STD's, but it's never, ever addressed or even talked about... but it has to be rampant.
The Aussie R.S. Bandits say it stings.
The girls get checked easily and cheaply.
99% of Thai girls will ask for condom.. foreigners guys even pay more to have sex without condoms .. STD is everywhere
Always use protection 👍👍👍
In Thailand it's very safe but still sensible to use protection.
std's a human condition - get over it.
(Can't just change the name and re-open the next day either.)
Sheesh, some years ago I went out with a mommasan, 2 dancers and 2 waitresses from a go-go bar one time.
100% agree!

Yeah that would be great for the Thai tourists that come to see the temples, wink wink nod nod

When are you going back to Thailand?
I said the exact same things the last upload of this video.

And she told us about her daughter working in a gogo bar , (21 she said) showed us photos , told us how popular she is and how much money she is making , but the surprising part of all this was how proud mum was of her successful ( In her eyes ) daughter

Thailand is corrupt big time, I was there 18 years ago and when I was watching this documentary everything seems familiar.
I checked into some of this stuff and some families are so poor that they sell off their kids to survive and some have almost no choice but to give up a kid for depts to very powerful people
Very powerful people do not operate tiny beer bars in Thailand.
Girls go there for easy money, you ask the girls some are saving money for University some are straight from Villages and experiencing the world, it varies greatly. The girls are required to show ID when working in Bar and be tested for STD once evey 3 months. Just leave people alone not everyone wants to work in a factory.
Why don't you concentrate on abuses going on in Germany instead of jumping on the bandwagon to bash Thailand?
How about the child's parents? Why aren't they being investigated and jailed????
