The swr won't change at all even though it's painted, but I believe it may lessen the radiation pattern. Bare aluminum radiates a lot better when it's clean and shinny that is why we periodically clean our antennas at least once every 3 years or so. If it's made out of fiberglass like the Antron 99, it doesn't matter if you paint it as long as it's non metallic. Just a thought. 73.
The problem is the narrowband of this antenna I had a copy from 70"s the ring was eliminate a 6 wrap copper was added to where ring was looked like 1/2 a coat hanger this allowed antenna have 1.5 at 10m phone and 26.300 going flat in between . So macp gets wet dwr changed this is the broad wore inducting with moisture replace with 12 gauge coated wire. Great antenna and like your upgrades.
Ive got mine tuned almost like yours. Ch1 1.2 swinging to 1.3 Ch20 1.1 Ch40 1.1 But the rain raises the swr to almost 2/1 Band C becomrs almost perfectly tuned during the rain?! I have usef coax seal on the bottom when my coax connects. But i did not add any to the top side of the connection like you did. Can I just use normal coax seal and smush it around the top of the connection and the exposed wire. Do you think I should tape all my connections on the eletment and ground raidials themselves too? I blew up my $700 amp. I enjoy the antenna but the rise in swr is killig me. I would also like to increase its power output too. But idk how.
From the coax connector to the hoop . Make it a solid copper wire a single piece out of what you would run in your house. Whole lot better than the aluminum brade the use
I’m skeptical about this antenna idk why but I don’t like that exposed wire lol just doesn’t sit right with me and looks like a pain to make adjustments on. Right now I have the a99 but i feel I could do better. Would you buy it again?

The maco V58 and V5000 are very good antennaes.
It was a little tricky to get the SWR down. I painted it so that the HOA has a hard time seeing it.

The antenna works very well and it has held up to the high winds on the SC coast. I have made many contacts with the UK.

Coax seal Tape. You can find it at home depot.
The same length of the aluminum braids on it
