Unlike the fiberglass antenna, this aluminum antenna is grounded. Offers Some Lightning protection, and reduced static . Brad, thank you for this video. And I left a like an am following your channel. 21 S.C. Old Radio Night.
I got a used V5/8th's changed out the hardware most rusted to stainless steel. Tom from Maco has a great video on You Tube setting this up. I bought the VQ3 direct like to get a stacking kit, hinged tower plate etc. I had a Wilson "V"quad in 1979 great rejection . Waving from St.Clair County in the Ozarks.
Bro you drunk? Maco are sh*t.y antennas, bad or impossible SWR, has short circuit out of the box. You need to mod and tweak the antenna to get a acceptable SWR. Ow let's not forget it will brake in the first Storm!
Wait tell u try something without a coil ..lol u be talking trash about the maco ..just saying 35 yrs in antennas.. vertical matching network is amazing
I am using a V 5000 and the 827 I find they work both the same except one can handle more power then the other great antennas!!!I am using LMR 600 ultra flex each coax is 75 feet long to the radio 1.2 on swr with amps on
Brad your presentation was spot on awesome and I like watching your UA-cam videos but please at least put them in higher quality than 240p at least 480 would be more reasonable anyways 73s from Radio Canada 128 out of Winnipeg Manitoba😎💯🇨🇦
M&P hyperflex is the bomb. I've got an 85 foot run of it and love it. Much quieter and rx and tx are stronger as well with the difference in loss from the RG8X.
I had an acvanti sigma 5/8 wave and the new maco is lighter not as heavy duty as 70"s antenna . My Maco gets wet swr goes up opposite of other antennas? 1# It was that stupid braid strap to ring replace it with coated Romex copper wire . But the ring needs to go . I had a 70"s copy of Ringo 11m groundplane it's ring aas replaced with a copper coil tapped 1.5 at 26.0 & 1.5 at 28.700 that's what the V 5/8 should do if yiu get rid ring well I'll experiment in summer 24 with it . Cause SWR is good for only 20- & 20+ channels so that's less bandwidth than A99 ? All antennas should work 26.505 to 27.855 without tuner ya Hey good older video makd more on the progress
Now they work but I prefure a vertical matching network ..no coil no horizontal matching coil or ring . Example... The SPT500 or other networks ... Vertical networks produce less loss more current at feed point better gain...
SPT 500 is a good antenna ,but it could be better. I say this because I had the original super penetrator and regrettably gave it away and purchased spt 500. Assuming that it would perform as well as the original, was I wrong, and the quality of materials used on the matching section are a poor quality pot metal and a cheap grade of plastic that causes swr problems. I was an early adopter of the first version they since changed the materials used and can't speak to the performance. I had an opportunity to replace the hygain spt 500 with an original 10/11 meter version. The swr does go up during the rain to about 1.56.1, which is acceptable in inclement weather.
How much room should one have for clearance for the arms? I’m waiting on my v58 to show up next week I didn’t think about the clearance issue I think I’m gonna have
I've had a v5000 for decades now and it's still the bomb
Yeah the bomb in bad SWR and shorts...

Nice!! That's an awesome antenna farm You have! Thanks for sharing. 73's from 151 SC.
Maco has always manufactured good antennaes. Both owners of maco past and present have done a good job.

Maco actually is very cheap and yes they work ..but trust me there is 1000 times better quality antenna..trust us
Maco is about 50 miles from the Iowa border in Mt.Carol,Illinois

Excellent antenna.
Mr Coily .64 blows them all away 044 down under said that 73

Not a fan at all of the maco ..I don't like the matching network ... ridiculous design
Make sure your ring is on right,I think it's supposed to go up to right while looking at it a good swr meter is fine
You need to consider trying Belden COAX . I can tell you the 2 models I have been using for over 20 years. Have I go look at the numbers.
What you really need is some RG-213, a balun and a hairpin match to make that thing right !!
🤣🤣🤣
Some have to put silicone caulk on the V5000 wire to prevent it from getting wet and raising the SWRs extremely high.
Is this what causes my high swr in rain?? I blew my 4 pill bc of it! Perfect in good weather tho at 1/1... what do I need to do?

Find a fix for high swr in rain? I blew my 4 pill amp bc of it. Perfect swr in good weather...
If your neighbors get mad at the tv Interference easy to cut your wires....

Okay there's something wrong with UA-cam because it would only displayed it in 240p now it's displaying it in 480p😡
Great video, what size pole do you have it on in this video?
Hi there,How was the v5000 compared with the sirio 827.regards
I had high swr on my v5000 with a cobra 29. Put it on a Lincoln 2+ and it’s 1.1. Idfnk what I did now lol 73’s
Your 29 might be putting off a dirty signal or a spur at a different frequency making reflect that your meter picks up…. Maybe lol
Time for a matchbox
can you use this antenna with a scanner
Use 12 foot to check it
