So I just opened up a world where I've beaten The Queen on casual preset, and used a new character with "player based raids" on, and still found some ticks running around meadows. So the answer is no, unfortunately.
So the new character will get raid by seeker or just neck and boar? I think its fine for them to roam at night when your base is near biome war zone so you can wake up with free stuff every morning
Glad they finally added an option to teleport ores without needing to mod. . .that is what sent me down the rabbit hole of modding the game >.> I'll probably still play with mods, but at least I'll be able to remove that one. Super pleased to see them consider multiplayer worlds being able to be made 'friendlier' for a new player joining. I admittedly don't really play multiplayer, but its a lovely option for friend groups adding players/drop ins for a few sessions, that sort of thing. Or just the really big massive servers that hit end game and still have many new people joining.
I might try playing this game solo now. I hate the fact that once I die I have to get all my stuff up. Trying to get it back is annoying and sometimes you can't even get it back. This is a great addition.
One thing not mentioned about very hard is that mobs are 20% faster. Move speed and attacks. Which is probably the most challenging part. Hard is probably 10% faster, not sure. You'll be scratching your head wondering why or how you got hit when you try to dodge roll like normal.
Yeah I know! that's like 90% of the grind gone haha. I'm surprised that it's STILL just in the test branch, but surely they'll release it properly soon.
On the events: Its true that events are random, but they can only appear every 42 minutes with a 20% chance - i believe that when you set the raids to be "less", that window widens giving more time in between possible events happening, and lower the percentage chance of it happening.
Hey Melma, I knew there was a fixed time period where the game checks if you're near a base and then there is a chance that a raid occurs, but I didn't know the numbers so thanks for the info! It's funny because I was thinking about mentioning that in more detail and I probably should have. I'll add it to the description until there are more exact time periods and probabilities. Thanks again mate.
Even gets a little more complicated: Depending on where you are in the game progression, you might have multiple events possible. Example: You have killed the Elder and are in the swamps, but have also killed a wolf and a seeker so far. You can now get draugrs, surtlings, wolves or seekers in an event. This now means that every 42 minutes, you have 4x 20% chance of an event happening (it doesnt stack, so 4x 20% is not the same as 80%. More like 4 seperate chances to hit the 20%). So at some stages in the game, events are more likely to happen than at others.
Wow that I didn't know at all! I assumed it was that if you were near a base when the check takes place and you do get that 20% chance, then it would randomly choose one of the available raids. Is it known in which order it would do the checks for the available raids?
@@BigBrianGameplay i have no idea, but my best guess would be that biome/boss specific events overrules creature events like wolves and seekers. I cant remeber, can you get wolves event at your base, or is is just out in the wild?
That would make sense to me too, to give a sense that the boss is "coming for you". I feel like I may have been hunted by wolves at a base but I can't remember a specific time. Based on the wording of the wiki, it seems it would be possible (it just says being near a base isn't necessary for "You are being hunted")
Yeah funnily enough last time I did a playthough with friends we used Valheim plus to increase resource drops and make the enemies a bit harder. That iron grind is painful solo or in a group :P
For the moment you need to opt in to the public test beta, although I think it will probably be properly released in the next week, but if you want to opt in to it there's a link in the description on how to do that for each platform. I've personally done it for steam and it's easy, so let me know if you need help! Edit for anyone that reads this: It might not release officially for a while longer, I read that the devs are on vacation or smth
It's still in beta, I'm surprised, thought they would've released it officially by now. So you either need to enable the public test build, or wait! In the description there's a link to the devs explanation on how to enable the test build. I know personally that it's easy to do on Steam, but if you want to try it out but are having trouble, just let me know!
Do you know how this function may work on multiplayer dedicated servers? I know when I go over to the Join Game tab, the settings aren't visible, so I wasn't sure how that would work. Thanks for any help!
Well since the modifiers are for the world itself (i.e. not the character/individual), they'd essentially act as server settings, meaning that the only the host would be able to change it for that world/server, and then everyone who joins would then have to play with those settings. Note that I've only tried it out for non-dedicated servers, but the way they've implemented it at the moment, I don't think you'd be able to change anything when you're joining a multiplayer server like that. Sorry that it's probably not what you wanted to hear haha
I been searching fora while now and there is no guide for public testing on Steam for valheim, how could I enable it and update the game for hte public testing version (and is it the vulcan version when you selct at the start ?) ?
Hey mate there should be a link in the description but: Step one: open the steam app, open the Valheim page, and click the settings icon. Step two: in the dropdown menu, click ‘properties’. Step three: click on the ‘betas’ tab and use the code “yesimadebackups”. You can now select the Public Test version in the menu above. Step four: download the Public Test version of Valheim (starts automatically after step three). Vulcan is different, choosing that setting might change ur performance a little, but the game itself doesn't change. Let me know how it goes!
I thought so. I don't have it on Xbox, but I found this: news.xbox.com/en-us/2023/04/06/xbox-insiders-the-valheim-public-test-is-now-available-on-console/ Launch the Xbox Insider Hub app. If you don’t have it yet, you can download it in the Microsoft Store. Navigate to Previews > Valheim Public Test. Select Join. Wait for the registration to be complete, and then you’ll be directed to the Store where you can install Valheim Public Test. Let me know if it works!
I play on fuckload of raids mode and its cancer :D You get a raid Or 2 in a single day non-stop. So yeah... dont try to build anything nice in mistlands as you gona get gyarll raided non-stop.

Do any of these settings turn off the Seekers roaming the Meadows at night at the current end game?
So I just opened up a world where I've beaten The Queen on casual preset, and used a new character with "player based raids" on, and still found some ticks running around meadows. So the answer is no, unfortunately.

@@BigBrianGameplay that's unfortunate but thanks for testing that out.

If you enable "player based raids", then a new character wouldn't get raided by Seekers or Fulings etc.
This is very informative. Thank you for putting this all together and running the damage calculations. I am super excited about this change.
You're welcome mate!
Can't wait for you to figure out some kind of challenge using these new gameplay options! Also, thanks for the instructions on how to test it out now!
