It's refreshing to see a player of your status holding on to a set of irons that work for you for 6 years. Great video!
You should do a video on your yardage with every club from your new set.
Excellent choice Jonathan. They look clean, simple, outstanding.
Would love an in person lesson! Love the content Jonathan, keep it up!
Happy new year and congratulations on the new irons!
Love the Malbon Polo btw, I bought myself the Malbon Coca Cola Bag for Xmas 😅👌🏼
Always loved how you game and hit that mizuno driver, the blue stands out so much in your videos.
Hoping Takomo offer the 50/54/58 setup that is getting really common now because of stronger iron lofts
Would have also like it alot more if they could stamp your wedges and offer different colour paint fill and ferrules.
I still play the ST180. Love it.
Nice content. Reviews are always subjective, so a discerning viewer will know. You cannot please everyone. Haters will always be haters. Keep it up
I'm suprised a golfer of your caliber did not have a fitting and went to a best guess with a DTC brand. Did you not reach out too mizuno etc at a youtuber wth 131K followers? a fitting with them would have made a good video and im sure they would have worked a deal for the publicity. Or are you working with takomo?
I have 301 cb mb combo set which replaced my Mizuno MP 62s. All clubs are marketed big names or not. My decision was based on independent comments/reviews. I did buy heads only and then got shafts custom fit by Club Champion golf in the UK which was great. Seriously could not be happier. My fitter’s opinion was that they’re a forged iron entirely comparable to name brands - if you like the look you’re good to go. We tested multiple similar CB irons and my numbers were all very similar. The shaft was the main difference. I’m getting great results on the course but it’s mid winter so looking forward to some better conditions in the spring.
the fact that someone as good as yourself has chosen takomos makes me feel confident that i've just ordered a set of 101s
I've never played them but I'm sure they're great. They definitely look the part!
They manufacture the clubs in china not japan. They ship from china
this was highly anticipated by myself!
What grind did you get for the 56 & 60 wedges? What grip size? Did Takomo not make a 3 or 2 iron?
Did you add the links to Takomo?
I would love to try Takomo irons.
Yeah I suspected Takomo would be your new clubs! I've heard great things about them too (and that UA-camr 'Golfsidekick' plays with this brand too!)
The Sim Ti 3-wood hasn't changed since it was introduced-- the stealth 2 just has the adjustable weight. I have the stealth rocket, but I loft back up to 15 for draw bias. When I hit it flush it goes just as far as my driver. Great club.
Totally agree, I have the Sim 2 Ti 3-wood and it’s just about as long as my driver off a tee. If I need to hit shorter I don’t use a tee.
It will be interesting to see what will be the differences in your stock yardages now. Jonathan, you are my go to instruction coach, thank you.
Thanks 👍
I have 2016 PING driver, PING Crossover 3-4 , still have PING ISI irons which play just as good if not better than similar irons. A good tradesman can use any tools.
Heavy shafts for a speed demon! 💣
Oh Yeah! I had a feeling you were a Mizuno guy! (Disappointing with the Golf bag though...was hoping you were carrying a Hello Kitty Bag like me...) 😁🙃😆

Nice clubs. If you have an issue with your wedges it’s usually the flex because wedges are used for touch shots, not always full shots. I’m afraid 90 grams will be far too light for you but maybe you’re that 1 in 1000. Lol
If you have an issue, put the 2.0 rev in by Kbs or maybe DG tour issue 130-132 grams but in a stiff shaft not extra stiff. I’m almost positive they would work well for you. You definitely need a heavier shaft in your wedges though. It won’t take long for you to find out. Not meaning to interfere, just giving you an experienced heads up. If you like heavier shafts in your irons you’re going to be shocked soon enough. I would love to hear how you adjust and best of luck. Enjoy your channel.
I use Takomo iron.
congrats on the new Irons Jon. you're on your way to 200K subs soon
thats the goal!
Colin morikawa still has that sim 3 wood in his bag even though he has the New taylormade Qi10 driver and 5 wood so there something still great about your wood.
I have looked into takomo irons in the past. Interested to see what you think.
Almost convinced me to trade in my SLDR irons. Almost. Is that reading in meters?
Hi Jonathan, thanks for your videos. Just wondering why a Hi-Fli iron rather than a Hybrid? Wouldn't hybrids give longer total distance if that's the aim?
The Hi Fli doesn’t spin so much for me. That’s why I like it. Hybrids always spin too much for me
Gorgeous looking irons. Are they old school lofts or the more modern ‘stronger’ lofts? That would make it difficult to bridge the gap between your new 4 iron and old 3 iron.
He showed the lofts a few of takomo 301s’more than once… pay attention!
Thats awesome, can I get your old clubs? :D Great video thanks!
takomos are made in China, got my 201 irons and on the box it does say manufactured in China
Hi. An interesting and enjoyable video. It was interesting the age of your old clubs...the wedge grooves were completely worn. I took the plunge and purchased a couple of Takomo's Skyforger wedges. The cost after conversion from USD and import duties was $130.00 (CAD) per wedge which I feel is great value given the quality of the club components. The Takomo wedges are not as forgiving on miss hits but when you hit the sweet spot they are amazing. I get why Takomo gets such positive reviews. However, I was a bit surprised that a player of your calibre would acquire clubs from a direct to consumer seller rather than getting fitted, particularly when you are surrounded by fitting data and studios. This begs the question is why did you choose Takomo? Was it the price, other reviews or did Takomo get smart and sponsor you? Cheers from Regina, Saskatchewan.
You send your specs to them and they’ll build it. He knows his numbers.
What arm sleeves are those when you play on course
I think these arm sleeves are from Samyi on Instagram
Did you order directly online or were you able to test the irons in a fitting bay? This is the issue with Takomo, no one has them to test but they receive great reviews. What is the difficulty in playing golf in Singapore, the lack of courses, the price or the season?
The golf courses are mostly private and costs minimum 250 on weekdays to play with a member some courses charge 300-400 for guests. When there is the slightest indication of rain or lightning they cancel the entire round for all players
Great bro. Do you provide a 1:1 lesson? And where?
Yes I am based in Singapore
It will be interesting to see if that significant weight reduction on the wedge shafts work for you.
Yea still getting a feel for them but it’s more the adjusted lofts that I will need more adjusting haha
Do you like the impact bag drills?
Yes the impact bag can be a good drill for impact
So these i heard come with all parallel kbs shafts ??
yes
@@JKMGolf we need to see that weight training routine 💪
How do you gap your 4 iron that’s under 210 and your 2 iron that goes 250+?
I have a 3 iron
Interesting. I found that when I switched to 55 gram graphite shafts I could really feel the weight in the club head itself
For me having heavy shafts made it awkward for the delicate shots
Are they really forged in Japan? I don’t see how they could be at that price point.
yes made in Japan
The fact that such a fine coach and player like him isnt sponsored by the big brands should tell you guys the state of golf equipment in Singapore.
Glad Takomo has given you some attention.
Fitting is still stuck in the 80s here except for Titleist. You guys wont believe how pathetic callaway, taylormade and cobra are in Singapore. Ping is only marginally better.
Titleist is miles better here and thats why it is doing so well here among the more avid golfers.
Hi I’m a senior at Virginia Tech taking an entrepreneurship class and need 5 casual golfers to interview. Please let me know if you’re interested it would really help me out!
Just yesterday I was going to order a set of Takomo 101t irons and when I went to pay for them with the conversion to Cdn$$ the total was over $1000 and still had to pay duty and taxes. So to me they are not much cheaper to purchase in Canada and with not being able to try before you buy I am not sure it's worth buying these over a proven big name club you can go get fit for. So I was very disappointed with these and how every youtube golfer is saying the are cheap clubs.
Not turn at all in my eye.
They are CHEAP when they are given to you for FREE to help push there products.
Good point, plus probably no easy recourse should you have any issue with them. Irons need to be tried, not easy to resell unlike drivers.
Seems like Takomo is giving away their clubs to bunch of golf youtubers lately. Hard to say something negative about a gift...It's hard to get an independent review if someone gers free clubs. I hope JKM doesn't turn into an advertiser.
Producing these videos without getting paid is a lot of work and Singapore is one of the most expensive cities in the world. Give the Bro his product placements, he makes the best content for us, completely for free! :)
@@stephan.schwarztr I understand. Would be nice to know if the Takomo is really good or whether people are withholding negative things to say about it.
@@wordupmybrotha I honestly haven't had any personal experience but I only read good things from people who have played Taylormade p790 or Calloway apex for example and said the quality is at least the same or even feels better for a complete set of new irons for 590$, that's really insane !
I bought the Titleist T200 last year and would probably have saved a lot of money if I had known this earlier. 😅🙈
Taylor Made gives away their clubs to a bunch of UA-camrs such as Micah Morris, Grant Horvat, and DOD King. Callaway gives their stuff away to Garret, Bubbie, and the Good Good kids. So clearly there's a good return on investment for the companies that are going this route. Ping, Titleist, Srixon and other companies need to start doing the same.
I currently use the Takomo 201s and they are amazing! I was initially concerned about it being a 'player's iron' but for some reason I'm hitting shots way better than my old GI irons (TM Stealth). I will never go back to buying from the big brands because it's so affordable given that the 201s are forged S20C steel. Obviously the biggest downside is you can't fit them as they are DTC, but you can just buy the heads and have them built locally. It'll take a while though because they're always out of stock!
not takomo, only for noobs
but beautiful swing though
His wedges are horrendous. That’s like someone who calls himself a great chef with old dull knives. Someone who doesn’t take care of his equipment which is his livelihood cannot be taken seriously.
Ive had these clubs for 6 years and grooves wear out from hitting the same spot for so long. This happens to all pros. The knives dont make the food, the chef does.
@@JKMGolfyou still got enough spin with 6 y/o wedges? I just switched from TM MG3 to Callaway wedges and really noticed the spin I’m getting now. Glad you have new ones now 😊
If you play the same set for 6 years regularly it will happen. If it doesn't then you're not playing enough.
It's the Indian not the arrow. I find it impressive that he's so confident with old, worn-out clubs, not like most of us who would put the blame on our clubs.
