Another biomechanical gem! Other instructors don't mention these nuances.
This is the first video I've seen about this issue. Now that I'm aware of this pressure between chest and lead arm I'll try and incorporate it into my swing. Thanks a bunch.
With this most important drill, you made my day. And actually, you made my week, my month, my year, my life. Yes, incredibly enough, this particular drill has solved years and years of frustration regarding my ability - better say disability - to hit the golf ball properly. Million of thanks.
Hands down this was the best video I found on adding speed and getting my show shape to draw. Thank you!
Great video Jonathan tried it at the range and fixed two problems right away completing my back swing and creating lag on downswing! Hit the ball great; with a baby draw finally! Very excited about taking it to the golf course. Thanks for sharing J.
Great to hear!
You are a natural teacher.bso good. I don't see this kind of instruction anywhere. Thank you.
Thanks for the great info, I always felt stiff throughout my swing, can’t wait to try this!
I have been playing golf for 30 years and I sware to God I had tried this method today at the driving range ,my wedge hitting 130 yards and straight every time 😮😮😮 please let this new swing work every time 🙏🙏🙏
i really feel it! it makes it much easier to generate faster club head!!
Been playing golf 60 years. Remember years ago watching Jimmy Ballard and he talked about the shoulder girdle. To me the way you explain it makes it easier to understand.
Great drill for a powerful downswing. Really feel it in the shoulder creating speed and helping with tempo. Thanks
Thank you for all of your tips, very helpful.
This really solves my problem in backswing. Thank you so much
The best lesson I learnt how to get more speeed. Thank you!
You are the best Asian golfer in the world bro, probably the universe.
Great advice as always.👍👍
Thank you for this post! This is the “feel” that I’ve been missing!
A gem of a tip. Thank you.
Very very good explanation. Do this correct with fast hand speed coming down and that’s how you create fast club head speed
Thank you for the great tip can’t wait to give it a go
Very comprehensively explained 👍
Great feel explanation, thank you!
Thank you!
This did help me..
Insightful vid; thank you for sharing.
Nice stuff will try it.
Excellent!!
Absolutely super
Went through a grueling 2 yr swing change to get rid of over the top overswing, but I believe I had this move during my transition and hit my irons long and far. New swing looks and performs a lot better, but I have lost some distance. I believe this is the piece that's missing. Thanks for this video!
Thank you so much!
Great!! Thanks .
Looking forward to trying this again. Only one pro told me to do this several years ago and it really helped. I’m not sure why I went away from it (probably too many UA-cam videos talking about the perfect triangle with hands in front and center at all times), but hope it will also help with shot consistency.
Great advice 👍. 🙏
I must try this today..
Great, useful video.
Very good video. I wasn’t doing the right move. Thanks 🙏 🎉
At 8:44 your fluid loading movement really illustrates the proper concept !
Just might be the drill I'm looking for. Thanks
Very informative video.. thank you so much.
Glad it was helpful!
I used that move on my irons and yes it made it effortless and I compressing the ball so much better. Distances are much longer and apex is higher. Thank you. Would you use this movement on your driver?
excellent question! i have just been watching lotsa videos and trying to get more speed with driver!
Thank you. I thought I was swinging incorrectly, when I swung like that. Nice tip!
Gold 👍
Thank you for all your videos, can you make a video on the trail arm and hand speed at the top of the downswing or getting into the "Pocket"
Appreciate the videos!
This seems to deviate from the idea of a very “connected” swing. Guys like Porzak Golf comes to mind as one who preaches this.
If we suppose that a more connected swing (stiff and lacking of speed as it may be), is more accurate because it syncs up the lower and upper body better, what “feel” or method do you propose to make sure your upper body and lower body syncs up correctly?
In my head, i would think you’d then have to almost wait on the arms (by driving them downwards) before rotating or use more force to speed them up, but that goes against the “lower body first” or principle of using the ground.
Hope it makes sense, and again, very much appreciating the videos 😊
I’ve heard to press your left arm against chest at start of downswing. Is that too late? It appears that if you do this during backswing then your backswing would be too flat? Turning into the left arm is a concept that has helped me. Thanks!
My swing is different than yours (I think), but this tip can be used in mine. I will use it at a lightly differnt part of the swing, but I believe it will be effective. I will try it today!
Great shirt
You know I just started doing that 2 weeks ago and ta exactly that. Coach thought me and that’s how you generate power with that lag.
Great video. In your opinion should the down swing speed be generated by the left arm whipping motion like throw a frisbe or right arm throwing/skipping a rock? I know different coaches have a different style of what they think it’s the most “ideal” swing
Honestly it’s both. When you straighten the trail arm it helps to push the left arm away from your chest. They are both related
Thank you, in watching your correct swing, I think I also see your left shoulder lifting up a little, at the moment when your left arm presses into your chest. Definitely look like a more relaxed and natural move. Prob. for me, a point to pay attention to.
I was afraid of getting my arms stuck behind me, so I've been synchronizing my arms with my chest. But I ca see how this causes issues e.g. lag, power, etc. thanks very much!
Some time ago, you advised that front arm should not press against the chest!
Interesting- I always thought you should avoid this and that “folding your arms across your chest” would get you stuck and over the top. Have I been thinking about this entirely wrong or misunderstanding? Would love your thoughts on the above. (Love your videos btw)
Same question. I’ve always been told to focus on not getting your arms stuck behind you in the downswing or it could mess up sequence in many ways.
Good Lord! I have always felt like the pros withheld “The Secret” to golf. You were not supposed to release this information. Now we know. Nothing will stop us now! You ,my friend, are going to be scorned and ridiculed for treason. Victory! For real though, Thank you!
Does the chest actually pause or stall to allow the adducted left arm to fly off the chest as you describe? When in the downswing should this occur?
Yes for a split second there is very quick deceleration but the action of straightening the trail arm through impact also promotes the lead arm move away from the chest
So when you do this. it looks like the left arm is PULLED into the hitting area with the left shoulder and the rotation of. the chest. This must mean that trying to "shallow" the club in the downswing by controlling and flattening the downsiwng plane is unnecessary and in fact impossible to do?
I hypothesize that what I stuggle with is rarely talking about on any videos... tightness. My shoulders and trunk do not move nearly as fluid as yours do. I feel like I get to a certain point in backswing and feelt stiff/stretch and unload all out of sequence and out of plane.
Like trying to throw a Frisbee, backhanded style.
I think it's important to understand that you should be engaging the core and leg muscles during this movement as well. This is your only time to engage everything to deliver the hit. It's too late afterwards, and doing so before is pointless.
How does this pertain to the driver?
Happens the same
Can you imagine what it is like for a woman?? Wish there is a lady golf pro talking about this left arm pressing against the chest - our physique stops our left arm to achieve a full back swing!!!
If you look at most women golfers they would do the same thing but their lead arm is usually positioned above and not directly into haha
Weird all the positive comments, this is the exact opposite of what good players do. Tour players have tiny amounts of pinning (adduction) in their backswings; even those with excessive looking downcocks. It’s the main reason they produce shaft lean. The move in this video will actually produce less hand speed early in the down swing I.e. the time you need it most.
Dechambeau does this
Mmm… AMG and others pretty much directly contradict this with their data.
Do they? Its so hard to know who to trust
@@rp2974 Well, AMG uses the data they gather with gears to decide what's true. Check out their Pros Vs Ams on "Create lag in your golf swing". Basically the Pros are measured to not pull their arm far across their chest in the backswing, and that allows them to get it further forward in the downswing, while Ams all think they have to pull their arm way across their chest, so they make more work for themselves to get to a better contact position. It's a pretty remarkable video.
so what's ur country? korean? american? 어디놈이냐?
More proof that the so-called right-hand swing is actually much more left-handed.
I normaly appreciate your explanations, short and at the point. But this one is against the principles that athletic golf motion detected with the 3d gear system. AMG compares typical pro data with the lead arm abduction against amateurs. The pros have all much less of lead arm abduction typically only the half then the amateurs. The very good explanation of these facts starts at 8:50 in this video: ua-cam.com/video/4FllwDHWGxk/v-deo.html
Interesting, but in my opinion, this is not correct.
1) You are over exaggerating the wide swing. You can let the right arm fold a bit. You do want some space.
2) Your arms are now too far behind you and have to play catch up, which you will have to manipulate the club more to do so. You just trapped your arms on the downswing.
Thanks, for the video though.
The over exaggeration is to show what it would look like to viewers. It is a well known fact that the lead arm loads into the chest and pulls away from it through impact which is a key movement for power production.
