Thanks Steven for letting me be an extra in your video, it was definitely within my range.
wait what steven he has a twin :0
@@justanotherguy9516 hes the background character, he was just in focus cuz the camera was very bad
Sterling work, man. You kept your composure! 😂
Great acting 👍👍👍👍
600th like lol
Gotta give props to the main actor, he has a lot of patience for being able to retake all of those shots without snapping from frustration
Yoww u again?
Ya he’s amazing 🤩
Holy moly you are JSGWAM.
Yes

I once auditioned for a speaking role in a western shot at Old Tucson. The casting director knew that it would be unrealistic to cast an Asian actor for this particular role. But when I read lines along with one of the leads, the actor suddenly seemed interested in what he was saying, as opposed to just reading from the script like he had with all the other auditioners. We had great chemistry. The director happened to see my audition, and told me I couldn't play that character. But he liked my audition so much that he created a role specifically for me. He made up the character of a rickshaw puller as a featured background extra. He made sure to insert me in shots with the main stars. That project has been in post-production limbo for years, so I haven't had the opportunity to see it yet, but I still hope to see it some day.
That's really cool
That’s cool. I hope better opportunities come your way.
I loved your story, I hope you see the final product some day!
Wow thats great
I once had great chemistry with a McDouble
2:20 "This shot is 5. SECONDS. LONG!"
That voice crack has me dead 🤣
The most accurate part is how he works “I’m a professionally trained actor” into every conversation.
It‘s the art‘s equivalent to lawyers: i went to harvard. 🤣
I thought getting a degree in acting would help 😂
@@StevenHe i think we can all agree that getting a degree…well doesn‘t do anything really. Especially if you are American and have huge student debts (I‘m studying vocals - popular music - in Berlin so at least I don’t experience that but what comes after my bachelor? Welp, no idea🤣)
But at least I can say: i got a bachelor degree in Music💪🏻🤣
@@StevenHe well just be glad I regard you with the highest degree
I’m sorry I’ll see myself out.
Yesss
Can we appreciate the actual actor who repeats every scene so accurately and not break character out of laughter 😂😂
@Austrian Painter then keep it to yourself
Yeah definitely appreciate the extra actor 😆
He’s a professional actor
@@StevenHe Not even a smile. He is good...
he deserves an oscar
I've been an extra, and it is soooo hard to walk normally! You try to keep an insanely good posture and move perfectly smooth, not too fast and not too slow, force your eyes to not look at the actors or the camera while still being super aware of where they are in the scene. Trying to blend in well with the background and still be dazzling enough to get noticed by the director. Oh lord, glad to be done with it
If you're trying to get noticed by the director, there's your problem.
I've directed. We HATE people who try to get noticed as extras.
Get noticed before casting. That's what AUDITIONS are for.
My uncles been a extra before in the dark knight magic trick scene he’s one of the gangsters sat behind the Russian guy and sal maroni
i wanna be an extra 😭 i dont even want recognition from directors or anything, i just wanna be able to say im in the back of a movie. i also think it would be fun to have imaginary conversations when the time calls for it 🙈
I knew an old guy that was an extra, who is so distinct looking as 'the old guy 01' that he would get flown out often to productions on the coasts. Super interesting to talk to, he said the worst part was indeed that they would tell the younger background actors to act natural and they didn't know how to do that really because all of them were people looking for their next big shot so they wanted to also be noticed. Coolest guy with some great tips for getting started in the industry if you *didn't* want to be a huge deal :). He's smiling in his grave right now at this one!
I would honestly love a movie with extras doing weird random things in the background xD
dude sometimes they're more interesting than the plot
Then watch every Despicable Me movies
The minions be doing some weird stuff in the background
@@StevenHe lmao
@@StevenHe Indeed xD
what makes this amazingly funny is that Steven He is a trained actor, acting like an untrained actor, acting like an over-actor.
Act-ception
@@StevenHe one of the good things about being a failure is that you can stand out the most sometimes. 🙃
@@StevenHe truly an exception
Actor/Actoria
@@StevenHe Act-ceptable
Back when I was an extra I remember talking in extra’s holding about doing a “reality” show about extras where everything goes wrong. You could make this a reality. More please.
“Rosencrantz and Gildenstern are dead”
WHEN YOU'RE HIGH BUT NEED TO *ACT NATURAL*😂
This needs to be a series now, like the “main” actors are trying to do a very serious scene, but the extras are stealing the scene by doing the stuff and more in this video
nah the main character is just trying to block the extras the best they can
A movie based entirely on the background characters doing stuff in the background, derailing the plot or moving it along, which ever. 😂
You'd still have "main characters" but their needs and actions would only pale in comparison as the "background/secondary characters" who are actually moving the plot forward. 😆
Minions did that
r/fuckxavier
.
When I heard him starting to cry, I immediately thought: "Who gave the extra a mic?", and then I was pleasantly surprised when that was actually addressed; because he brought his own-- Now that, right there, is professionalism... That guy's hired!
Hahahaha I’m glad I wrote that in
I thought it was the main actor doing that at first lol
It’s also funny because it implies he just walked over to the audio crew, handed them a lav receiver, and made them plug it in to the recorder.
E
I yelled EMOTIONAL DAMAGE!!!
“InTo ThE uNkOwN!” Made me laugh every time I rewatched this! 😂
2:23 was the best part
Honestly walking "normally" as a background extra is one of the hardest things I've ever had to do. The feeling of not wanting to screw up the shot is *crippling*
did you at least refrain from shaking hands with the imaginary people behind your shoulder?
Especially because you know that they could so easily just have you not be in the scene or replace you
For me, the hardest part would be to not look anywhere where the action is happening. Blending in and pretending to have a conversation is easy enough, but to not look where all the movement and noise is coming from is counterintuitive for me. It goes against natural instinct.
@@TemperedMedia which tbf, isn't something they should expect extras to not do, it always feels unnatural when you have something big happen but only the main characters react and the extras just keep doing what they were doing. It's make sense if someone say shouted in a restaurant and you have a few glances in the direction, it would seem more realistic I'd find.
Just do cartwheels. No one would notice
Director: "Act normal!"
Steven: "starts acting even weirder"
Stevens father watching: My son is a failure
So true man 😂
I raised a donut.
😜
This is exactly what I was thinking!
"Can't even do normal right!"
2:05 ngl can’t tell if he’s laughing or crying
1:49 Joma is holding back so hard
I love when Steven's character gets overly upset and starts flailing his arms around 😂
I'd be like that too just for the overdramatisism
that always happens
😂😂😂 best part lol
damn you really are a bot magnet
@Don't Read My Profile Photo You can't tell me what to do! I won't sell out to THE MAN!
The fact that this is based on a true story just screams EMOTIONAL DAMAGE 😂
What the HEEEEL you say? I paid $1000 for this camera and you can't even WALK normally? *throws slipper*

We need a film were we follow the background characters more than the main characters
As a person who wasn't an extra in a movie, I can confirm that is totally relatable
Thank you sir
After watching this I should definitely be a movie extra
@@StevenHe I ate a building
He wasn’t an extra, *_he was the main character_*
@@vhs360 he wasn’t the main character, *he was the one who knocks*
Hilarious! I remember being an extra on House of Cards . I thought it was so cool to be there unlike other extras who were aspiring actors and actresses. I had never been an extra before so I was very attentive and followed directions. The other extras came off the exact same way as in this video. The Director and casting crew got so annoyed that they gave me the most screen time and the opportunity to be with the main actors in scenes. Senior extras couldn’t believe it. 😅😂
HAHAAAAAA that is so ironic, I know exactly what you’re describing now that I’ve been on both sides of the camera
"senior extra" 😭
yah i just cant believe steven he was actually there makes me wanna see it lmao
For some reason I read senõr extra, and that cracks me up.
Sometimes, less is more
2:38 first,I thought he was singing 'in ton ne hun NOOOOOOOOOOO,hin ton ne hun nOOoOooOOOOoOOOoo!' But then I watched the shorts and he sang 'into the unKNOWNNNNNN,into the unKNOWWWWWW.'
Steven as director is like me every day. JUST WHAT ARE YOU DOING?!
"I sat the hell out of that chair, sir"
This made me laugh harder than anything else.
I also think that was the funniest line. That and the ending bit where you learn Steven looks awkward as a mob character.
Background: u mean just walk normally? Ok i can do that
Also background: *performs Laban's movement*
I have officially imploded with laughter. The exasperated director part perfectly complements the inept background extra's part. Kudos to the supposed star's cool, calm demeanor during this madness❣️❣️
As a backround extra actor, i can confirm that everything he did was accurate.

@koolkid706 we know
Because I actually did that😂
I love how the director does it himself, but winds up being just as unnatural. XD
That was the most perfect part
Shook hands with an imaginary person. 🤣
🤣🤣🤣🤣 was thinking the same thing!
It tied the whole thing together so well!
The fact that he continued to watch the performance while being background shows he's dedicated as a director
the next deadpool movie with extras doing weird random things in the background should have deadpool being the director with Steven He getting roasted
I'm new to Steven's channel and this one killed me! Please continue this series of hilarious movie mishaps. Joma Tech is the perfect long-suffering foil. May they not have suffered emotional damage in the making of this vid.
Little fact: it's not the director's job to direct the extras (it's usually the AD who does that). If the director starts talking to you, I can guarantee you're doing something wrong haha.
Never in my life have I heard singing so beautiful. The tone quality and radiance he emits from his voice is just from none other than a master of the craft. My deepest respect goes to Steven.

That scene the Director says "get out" looks like animes when the character from one scene to the other appears in different plans on the same take. Such a brillant subtle comical touch. I love this channel.

That’s the joy of being background
