    This has been a really nice motor for me on my g3 welded Aluminium Jon boat. It is a good kicker backup outboard boat motor. Maybe even use it for trolling while fishing. The Honda 2 hp outboard boat motor is a four stroke engine and it is air cooled, so no water pump impeller problems,and I really like this boat motor I have actually put it on a mattress I have driven the mattress in the water with this motor, I have put it on a kiddie pool boat (I think I did these videos after this video), this boat motor is a really nice kicker engine maybe for a jonboat maybe a fiberglass boat, sailboat, mattress, pink plastic kiddie pool, this is a really great outboard boat motor. I like to put non-ethanol fuel in this

    I bought the Honda 2hp for my 17' canoes back in 2000 and it has been one of the most dependable little motors I have ever had. I have had to replace the pull cord a couple times and that's about it except 10 months ago I had to clean the carb and gas tank but only because I failed to run it dry of gas the last time I used it about a year before, easy job and it didn't even need new gaskets and the gas lines were still supple and in good shape!
    I always use Seafoam in the gas and try to run it dry if I'm not going to use it for a few months. I run full synth in the oil and gear grease and change it every 2 or 3 years.
    One point I would like to mention about the clutch, I thought about getting it when I bought the motor but didn't for fear of more things to break down and I am so glad I didn't get it - on my canoe 90% of the time I am running the motor at the lowest speed, around 2.2 mph for cruising and trolling (about a fast paddle), I couldn't do that with a clutch, I would be constantly be going in and out of gear trying to maintain the low speed and it would still be faster and louder. Not having a clutch has never been a problem as I alway paddle out from the dock or shore before starting it. Top speed on my 17' Alumicraft canoe w/ an outrigger is a little over 7mph, and a bit noisy at the top speeds.
    Of interest, I recently did a tour around a large lake here in central Florida and got 25 miles on one tank of gas at low speed - that's 25mpg! I love this little motor!

    I have one of these.. I start it every year, even when I don't use it. But it starts every year after 1 or 2 pulls. It's a great motor, and yes, it's a strong 2hp. Loud, yes, but a great motor for it's little weight.. Mine is probably a 2007 but I have never had an issue. Super lightweight portable, probably the best ever. I don't have a use for mine right now, but have no intent to sell because it's basically perfect and I will need it in a few years I am sure.

    Good thing about these is as long as it has oil in it, you seriously cannot kill them. Card may get dirty but that's it.

    Holy flip that’s loud.

    • @ricmid
      @ricmid 4 роки тому

      Its "loud" because its air cooled, which means the cylinder has cooling fins which ring and resonate and amplify the engine noise, unlike a watercooled engine which has a smooth water jacket which has the opposite effect ie it tends to dampen and silence engine noises.

      Bull. Its because it exhausts to air. Quieter engines the exhaust is underwater.

    How slow does it go at idle speed ? I want to troll slow for Kokanee fishing . Just boat a 2 hp and I am hoping it will go slow enough

    • @KendallTodd
      @KendallTodd  5 років тому

      Some may run at idle speed and some may not, this particular one the propeller is not supposed to turn until I twist the throttle. But there may be some models that can run at idle speed

      I just got one for a backup to my outboard,I have a 14.5 foot Klamath V hull fishing boat and it pushes mine at just under 5 mph according to my GPS fishfinder,not fast but enough to get me in if something happens and good to troll with.

    It's cool but kinda surprised it's so noisy being that it's a Honda.

    I think its a 2 stroke, my Suzuki has oil tank on motor also, check into it, it just mixes the oil and gas...2 stroke oil.
