Got my 702's a couple of years ago. After that, even though I heard how they sound, I fell for the "internet misleading stories" and I started to look for something else. I eventually came to the conclusion that they're up to par to many other headphones out there that are considered "better". Now I'm mixing songs with them and the mixes are translating really well on other systems.

Bro i am getting the K702 delivered tomorrow because of YOUR video! Not this one, no, but the past one when you had long hair and compared it to HD560s. The irony is that, after I get them, I may not ever need to watch your channel. But thank you! You excel at what you do.
I bought them because of one of your videos years ago and they are still my go to headphones at my desk. Only thing I had to figure out myself: Adding Yaxi pads and a Beyerdynamic cable (really, it fits!) make the sound and comfort even a bit better
Thank you man! Really glad you're enjoying them. It makes me feel pretty good that I've gotten a lot of these types of comments on the video basically saying they bought one per my rec and are happy.
Have you listened to Ananda Nano? If so, what are your thoughts? And while talking about Ananda line, how would you compare their soundstage and imaging to K702? Thanks
Hey man! Yeah, check out this article: homestudiobasics.com/hifiman-ananda-nano-review/ Hit me with questions on the blog because I see those comments immediately. :) For your question, Soundstage isn't as wide or immersive but still very above average (like most HFM)
@@HomeStudioBasics Thanks, recently got them and they really gave me much needed insight in audio, especially since we live in a world full of crap reviews of audio gear. They replaced my HD 600s as daily drivers and i'm happy with them.
Yeah like toby said the sound is still phenomenal, build for me has been good only that one small issue with the plastic piece but it's almost inconsequential and doesn't negatively affect anything.
I remember owning a K702 and a K712. Both were fun to use. I gave away my K712 and used the K702 for a good while. I also think it's still a worthy headphone of recommendation along side HD600/6XX. It's a bit of a shame you don't hear as much of it these days. It's still good and takes to EQ really well. And it's lightweight and comfy as all hell. I think the centre imaging argument is sorta whatever. It's not like you're really looking for that specific thing in every piece of music or game you're listening to or playing. Also, I somewhat recently purchased a Hifiman Ananda Stealth due to some seriously good sales. Ananda stealth is addicting. I brought it up because I remember your Hifiman edition XS review comparisons and that you still have a soft spot for it. I absolutely love it and I think it's incredibly underrated.
The no center image thing is overblown and entirely depends on the source file. And yeah, I love the Ananda/XS as they are the most logical step up from HD6XX/702 etc. The Ananda/XS imo are much better than anything Focal has come out with besides the Utopia of course. I think their headphones are horribly overpriced, overrated, and not worth it generally speaking. I use this comparison to make the point that HIFIMAN understands price to performance and overall value while Focal either A) clearly doesn't or B) they don't give a shit and will keep swindling people for as long as they're completely ignorant.
Thank you! I got them from Amazon IIRC. They are identical in size and shape to the stock blue ones :) If you do switch pads, check out this video: ua-cam.com/users/shortsFbfRBvjpwm4
hi, what would you say about k702 soundstage depth? im deciding whether to get them or not and soundstage depth is also one of important factors for me
Depth is awesome, width is awesome, height decent. Soundstage overall is exemplary. You're going to find that width will jump out at you most I think. For depth, they give off the illusion that things are happening on the ground level of my apt (I'm on the second floor). I'd say Width > Depth > Height.
Hey, i actually got k702 at your recommendation a couple years ago. I am very happy with them. The accusation about "lack of a center image" holds true - it becomes pretty apparent when gaming. Otherwise they are perfect.
4:02, those random jumpcuts, lmfao. Anyway, one criticism I’ve heard from the k702 that deters me from getting one is the elastic getting looser overtime. Otherwise, they look solid.
I picked them up at GC on black Friday weekend for $99. Awesome so far. For a Benjamin they are a ridiculous buy imho. I'd have been stupid to not pounce.
Mid-Fi is the best-Fi. And about the mid audio range: it is the most important range, and if someone says otherwise - beware, they are not human xD About the "hard to drive" part - HD600 are considered hard to drive too... But guess what - it is not 80's anymore, Class D is great and extremely efficient, and for desktop - there are tons of great relatively cheap Class A amps if you want a space heater with the sound amplification future. Furthermore - with $100-200 amps that can drive virtually anything except electrostats "hard to drive" characteristic should die off. Even portable devices are capable to drive surprisingly hi-Ohm/low-sensetivity headphones now, all praise Class D and balanced outputs.
Exactly. HD600 is incredibly easy to drive and K702, while a bit harder, still isn't that much worse. That's exactly why I typically don't recommend anything above $100-200 because Diminishing returns in dacs set in very quickly.
You're really good at selling me on the k702 or k612, but I have the k712 - I remember your review on those was pretty positive as well... to me it sounds a bit like the 612 might be comparable to the 712 and the 702 might be a bit more "present" and "in your face" . You think it's worth checking out either one of those if I already have a k712 and Sennheiser 560s/ 440 pro?
K612 to me wasn't very good. Lots of grain/haze/fuzz etc. and it's also too flat. Reminds me of a Sennheiser 500 headphone except worse. 712 is decent, a bit too glossy/warm and lacking resolution due to the bass shelf. Don't get me wrong: it's not nearly as bad as most consumer products but still too forward. K702 is snappier and livelier because it understands that the bass need not be front and center. I would say absolutely yes the 702 is worth trying to see if you like that crisper presentation. I certainly prefer it overall and also more than a 560S. 560S is very well-tuned but like all 500 series headphones, it becomes dull and blah after a while. I could never own one of those I'd just end up selling it like I did the 612.
There was that one guy on the headphones subreddits that absolutely loves his k702 and hate hd600 users for no reason. Some user got into an argument with him and dude pulled out all of his alt accounts to come to back up his main one, it's super obvious I couldn't stop laughing reading the comment chain

I use the Arya for gaming and film mostly with EF600. They are good but not worth $1600. Not even close. They came down quite a bit in the last year or so and that's a good thing.
