This song changed the game forever. January 1st, 1990, everyone fell in love with it. I was ten at the time. And to this day, whenever you hear that drum beat, you already know what song it is, and head to the dance floor lol. Bobby Brown, Johnny Gill, and Ralph Tresvant were all out there having success with their solo hits, and these three just rounded it out. No other group has had all six members have a great solo career other than New Edition

I would suggest "WORD TO THE MUTHA from New Edition". It was their first song with ALL the members after they broke up to do their own thing. The other popular song after they got back together again after another breakup is "HIT ME OFF - "New Edition" that was from a whole album they did.

Perfect Combination is not a solo album. It is a collaboration album with Johnny Gill and Stacy Lattisaw. J. Gill recorded only one solo album ('Chemistry' released in 1985) BEFORE he joined New Edition in 1987. His only solo album, before joining New Edition, did alright and showed potentials. But your claim that he had a "great" solo career (with only one album) is simply not true.

JG was well known in the R&B community as a great singer the very reason why Mike Bivins recruited him to join NE in the first place. I was in the navy 1990,stationed at Phila Naval Shipyards-assigned to the USS KittyHawk-it was in the yards for a total over-haul.I remember seeing this video in our dayroom( had a big screen tv with cable) after duty=hours,everyone would congregate there to watch tv.Poison was a UNIVERSAL hit-EVERYWHERE !!! BBD's debut album was FIRE !!! LOL. Hope you check out their other tunes too,you won't be disappointed.

The interesting factoid about Bell Biv Devoe is they were actually the connection from New Edition to Boyz 2 Men. First you had New Edition then three members of that group became Bell Biv Devoe. Then one of the members of BBD actually discovered Boyz 2 Men and produced their first album. Of course, Boyz 2 Men becomes the biggest singing group of the decade and spawns the whole boy band thing. The boy bands of the 90s were really just white singing groups trying to duplicate the Boyz 2 Men sound… which was basically created by Michael Bivens of Bell Biv Devoe. True story
