I've never heard this one - great recording and showed his versatility. I met the band who played with him on this tour - they were called The Wild Angels. He had a unique breathless style - you thought he was going to miss the beat, but he never did. He was the real thing.
We have to thank the arrival of You Tube A Gene Vincent fan from way back Never realised he sang such great ballads as are appearing on You Tube His range from My Favourite Dance in the Street to these Ballads is incredible But the strangest thing of All is he never had a No.1 Not even in Top Ten in UK Highest he ever achieved was No.15 Why ??? I dont know or care. He Was Unique As was Elvis ; Roy Orbison Long Live Rock n Roll / Rockabilly The First & Forever TeddyBoy
Although Gene Vincent had a unique voice. He always said he wasn't in the singing business to make money just to make great music... He's a definite Rock n Roll Legend. Sweet Gene Vincent Was one of the best & could sing ballads like no other... x
This is an old post I know. But gotta say I love Mr. Craddock. Always have. There is a recording from the 70s...a beautiful ballad...and I can't remember the title or lyrics... just the melody. It brought me to tears every time I heard it. I lost that 45rpm record and have never found that song again. 😢 Oh, well... sorry for the OT rant.
I wish I had a nickel for every comment that I've read that said this one was so "Underrated" or that one was "Way ahead of his time". In the case of Gene Vincent, he was seriously underrated and pigeon holed too. I never heard any of this music ever. Gene was loaded with talent that never was heard by the public in the states, anyways. It's a real shame that he came and went with so little fanfare. This is just my own opinion.
Gene Vincent Was. not underrated at all. He was a difficult messed up character & he had problems endearing himself to the paying public & the listening audience. There was nothing wrong with his singing or style of music. He just wasn't quite as popular or as well liked as his other Rock n Roll counter parts. He only had one Major hit with Be bop - a - lula. But when Gene Vincent passed away he left us with tons of great music as his legacy. R. I. P. Sweet Gene Vincent... 🙏
He was know as king of the Ted's in England. He was loved here. He had several hits in the early 60s in the UK and Europe when he'd been forgotten in Europe. Remember elvis's mum was convinced he was singing be bop a lula, not gene. He probably produced the best rock and roll music ever by any artist between 1956 and 1960, but capitol for some reason couldn't promote him. Eddie Cochran was the same just a few hits...if either had a Tom parker...
True Rock n Roll legend 👏 a first class singer appreciated so much in the UK but not in the USA his home land . I am a Teddy Boy and one of my All time favourite Rock n Roll singers.Gene and the Blue Cap's one of the best band's ever RIP Gene gone never forgotten 📻 your music 🎶 lives on forever 👏👊✊😍💥

One of Gene Vincent's own written songs.. He was clearly moving with the times with his music. But if you listen to this song it's about drug addiction.. Gene also battled with drug addiction... He had a great voice... He always liked the music box sound on a lot of his songs...
i have to admit i dont know this one im mostly familiar with his early stuff. i like it, it has a bit of a "Velvet Underground - Sunday Morning" vibe with that little melody playing in the background.
Love is like a window pane The sun shines in, but it stops the rain They say that love is blind To me this is so true The day the world turned blue A pill I thought everything was funny A pill and I thought our walks were sunny Look what they've done to you I swear I never knew The day the world turned blue The day the world turned blue...
What a fantastic video ! Gene and many of his contemporary performers are my artistic heroes and inspiration. Thanks for posting this historical footage. I love the accompanying song too.........
It's a very beautiful song! Anyone knows what did he mean when he says "A pill, I thought everything was funny/A pill, and I thought our walks were sunny"? Thank you very much!
Incredible footage; he looks not only wrecked, but appears to me to be walking around in a time and a place he didn't belong, just pursuing, defiantly, the only life he knew. What a startling, disturbing example of the gargantuan changes that finding yourself about fifteen years older, and in another place, (another time, another place), can make to you.
Love is like a window pane The sun shines in, but it stops the rain They say that love is blind To me this is true The day the world turned blue The day the world turned blue A pill, i thought everything was funny A pill, and i thought our walks were sunny Look what they've done to you I swear i never knew The day the world turned blue The day the world turned blue...
Do you have had to had hurt in your life to sing like this .. no but it sure helps His rockers are fantastic but his slow ones are unbelieveable ..try his supreme version of "over the rainbow" lovely voice
Looking at the lyrics, to me , he’s singing about a girlfriend with whom he experimented with hallucinogens like LSD, and the girl took a trip and never returned.
I love Gene Vincent but the words to this song are very strange. How can love be like a window pane? I found it difficult to understand. He certainly had his unusual way of expressing himself musically...
