Yonex Vcore Pro 97 (330g) Review by Gladiators

  • Are you guys actually watching this video? Well, thank you very much, because I don’t think there could’ve been a worse moment to post it. The new version came out a few days ago ya know but oh well. The Yonex Vcore Pro 97, what a racket! It is endorsed by Stan Wawrinka, so Areg just couldn’t hold himself from hitting one-handed backhands with it. With its really headlight balance, huge weight, and small head, this racket is perfect for those looking for maximum control, and the 16x19 string pattern helps avoid your arm flying out of the court.

    0:19 LOL!! That is a great idea for a video clip. Love the originality and ideas in your videos. Get a GoPro or whatever, put it in a load of bubble wrap or something protective and let it tumble across the court whilst filming, then join the video segments with Areg hitting his 1HB !! Would love to see what that looks like!

    Bought one of these Yonex Vcore Pro 97 330’s recently to replace the Pro Staff 97S rackets I’d been playing with. Wanted something similar but w a more head light balance and a tighter string pattern. You guys are right, this racket plays more like a Pro Staff than the typical Yonex pro models. I was struggling w control a bit due to the garbage cheap demo racket strings it came with so I’ll report back when I pick it up from my local pro shop w fresh Wilson NXT 17.

    @therock you there? Thank you for this review. This is basically a heavier regular vcore when i tried it out. I know a guy who switched from an aero to a vcore pro and he started hitting less shots in the net. There are so many people that i know that use this racket and i can tell why their good. It's a good racket but my swing gives lots of spin and it doesnt really do that with this frame. Still the 97 sq inch was comfortable. Heavier rackets don't really give much of a difference for me, but maybe I generated a bit more power but i rely on swing than anything else. How would you guys compare this to the ezone or a vcore? Or maybe a pro staff.

    • @gladiatorstribe
      @gladiatorstribe  2 роки тому +2

      Seems like he still hasn't seen the video 😂🥴 Compared to the two frames you've mentioned. Less power, especially than the Ezone but way more control. I would definitely prefer the Vcore Pro over the Vcore 98 but the Ezone really got me thinking.

    You guys need to play test the Dunlop CX 200 tour 18x20. If you add 8 grams to 10 and 2 and then counter weight to your preferred balance point it might be the best stick I’ve ever played. Unreal feel with a good launch angle, impressive stability and moderate spin. Beauty for the areg 1 hander that’s developing 😂

    • @gladiatorstribe

      Dunlop rackets are quite rare around here. We do wanna try them out and the CX 200 is going to be one of the first ones on our list!

    I tried this racquet but it was just too heavy for me to play well with it, particularly when serving. I think I'd rather get the 310g version and just weight it up with lead etc. At least that way you have some control over were the weight distributed. This version just felt weirdly heavy and I say that as someone who learned to play using the 350g Six.One 95!

    • @gladiatorstribe
      @gladiatorstribe  2 роки тому +1

    Great video bro! I had a problem.
    my racket is vcore pro 97 now. and my forehand is very flat and i used to strike heavily on the ball, but sometimes a wish i can spin a little bit.(i know it is really hard in this racket ) however my two handed backhand used to spin a lot. my previous racket is head extreme mp. i can’t control where the ball goes. it always fly outside the court. i don’t know actually maybe it’s because my flat forehand? it just not fit me well. I really don’t know which racket fit me??
    wish you guys can give me some suggestions.tks

    • @gladiatorstribe
      @gladiatorstribe  2 роки тому +1

      Thanks a lot! Well you're jumping from one extreme to the other. The Heae extreme mp is really powerful and spin oriented the Vcore 97 is focused on control and feel. I'd recommend you try something in the middle. Maybe the Yonex Ezone 98 or the Head Radical MP.

    With 26kg you kill all the finesse of the racket. If you string it at 22kg main, 20kg cross you have a completely different beast.
    Much more access to spin, much bigger sweet spot. Much longer dwell time of the ball.
    Then the kick or to spin serve is perfectly fine without any arm issues.

    • @gladiatorstribe
      @gladiatorstribe  2 роки тому

      Definitely would be a different beast. I (Grisha) really liked it the way we've tested it and I don't think I'd prefer stringing it lower. Areg though, would definitely take advantage of it.

    • @PrecisionPointTennis
      @PrecisionPointTennis 7 місяців тому

      I just got two of these rackets. I love them. Mine strung with Voikl cyclone tour at 23/22. I wanted to protect my arm. What do you think if I string it at 21/21 full bed of Alu power 1.25? Would the bed be stiffer? Or should I go 22/20 Alu power? Thanks!

    • @LarzB
      @LarzB 7 місяців тому +1

      @@PrecisionPointTennis i don't think that is a huge difference, but i prefer to string my crosses always 2 kg lower as it makes the sweet spot a bit wider and gives the mains more ability to move and snap back. Sweet spot wider i mean that it is less jarring outside the sweet spot between 3 and 9

    • @PrecisionPointTennis
      @PrecisionPointTennis 7 місяців тому

      @@LarzB I’ve never tried 2 kg difference. I really want control as I e been using a 90 square inch I.prestige mid by Head (2003 model) and I love the control but I need to get more modern! I’ll try 2 kgs, thanks

    • @LarzB
      @LarzB 7 місяців тому

      @@PrecisionPointTennis you can also look it this way. You have 16 mains and 19 crosses or 18 mains and 20 crosses. So you have 10% more crosses pulling tension in 1 way compared to the other. So for an even tension in your hoop you should string it 10% lower than the mains.
      It is at least how i fool myself, but i have noticed an improvement on the fore mentioned aspects.
      On top of that i have also started stringing my rackets proportionally lower towards the sides top and bottom and that also increases comfort and power without really sacrificing control.
      So i string mains at 23 and cross at 21:
      The mains from the middle outwards the first 3 mains (in both direction) at 23 kg. Then the next 2 mains at 22,5 kg, and then each next string i lower it 0,5 kg.
      With the crosses i start at 19 kg at the top cross and each cross i go 0,5 kg higher until i reach 21kg (that's the 5th string) and on the bottom i do it reversed.
      This softens the string bed towards the sides without sacrificing the tension in the middle
