      In stock form, it's a completely different experience. This is mostly due to the weight. The VCP97D has so much plow through and stability from pure mass than you just can't get from a 305g frame. Compared to my customized Extreme Tour with a swingweight of 338, the Extreme gives a lot more power and "zip" out of the stringbed. The launch angle isn't as controllable, but spin is significantly higher.

      Thanks for watching! I will try to get access to the new Prestiges, but as a new channel, it can be tough to get racquets. I used the SV95 as well until I had a warranty issue and Yonex replaced them with 2018 VCORE 95s. The prev gen Prestige Pro played somewhere in between the 2018 VC95 and SV95. It had the stiffness of thee SV95, meaning good access to power and spin, but ball pocketing more in line with the VC95.

    This is the first review of yours I’ve seen and am totally impressed. Definitely the best review on all of UA-cam independent of the actual racquet being tested. Subscribed.
    I really like your point about some people needing a racquet that forces you to play your game. I’ve played a pure aero for a while and for the first set I’m hitting aggressively, playing well but then nerves set in, playing not to lose, etc and I do begin to just freeload off that easy power and like your friend, just moonball topspin after a while.
    With the Vcore 95 I’m forced to actually keep playing my game because of how demanding it is. I’m leaving for the courts shortly and will bring this 97d with me that I haven’t hit before but acquired in a trade.

    Coming from weighted Vcore 95 2018, I found this racquet more stable and more forgiving, which is what I was looking for.. still prefer the feel of Vcore 95 so I have this as my second choice for now and maybe soon could be my main one... play more flat and one handed backhand and prefer to play aggresive on hard court, so it suits this very well, and much better than HD version which was not as effective with big hitters and defence

    As a long time Wilson Six.One 18x20 user, I'm looking to upgrade to a more modern racket. I've found the hard way over the years that this racket is extremely unforgiving if I'm having an off day and I'm simply not good enough and just don't play enough tennis anymore to make it work for me. The 95 sq. inch head size doesn't help either I just feel like I get pushed around by modern power rackets and I have a peashooter instead of a bazooka.
    I'm currently looking to make the switch to a more modern racket and this Vcore pro 97D is one of my current choices.
    Could you possibly suggest some racket recommendations for someone like me who grew up using an 18x20 stringbed and is used to more control oriented rackets?
    I'm also strongly considering the Pro Staff v13 and the Pure strike 18x20 but I'm a bit overwhelmed by the choices available on the tennis market.
    Thank you.

    • @TennCom

      I really like the Gravity Pro. I know it's a 100 square inch racquet, but it's got a nice weight and great ratio of control to power. Rublev is an ex-6.1 user who now uses the Gravity. I think the VCP 97D is a great racquet, but I'm not sure it will just you much extra forgiveness over the 6.1. The Prostaff 97 is worth a try, but it feels a bit light and low powered for me. Some lead really helps if that's your thing. The Extreme Tour is another great choice if you are willing to customize. It's got a nice raw feel that reminds me of older racquets, but good control and forgiveness. You can probably skip the Pure Strike 18x20, as the feel is incredibly muted, and the control isn't that great tbh. Last up, I would try both versions of the Blade 98, 16x19 and 18x20.

    • @Ignozi
      @Ignozi 2 роки тому

      @@TennCom I definitely have slept on the Gravity line, I remember it coming out a few years ago and I completely dismissed it. Looking at the Gravity Pro it looks like the perfect transition racket from the 6.1.
      In regards to the Pure Strike, I'm surprised that wouldn't be the first recommendation it seems like a more user friendly racket with extra spin and a bigger headsize.
      I honestly can't be bothered with extensive modifications so the Extreme Tour is off the table, I prefer a racket that is pretty good in stock form, I could add a few grams of lead if needed but that's about it.

    Really good review, how would you compare it to the vcore 95 and the gravity pro in terms of power(when you can manage the weight with full swings obviously) and stability?

    • @TennCom
      @TennCom  Рік тому +1

      Thanks! VC95 offers more for free i think but the 97D is more stable and solid feeling. I think for flatter hitters, the 97 is better, especially if you are playing the racquets stock. The 95 is surprisingly accessible for lower level players, so if you are playing high level tennis, i think you are more like to get pushed around. That said, i think it has more potential if you are willing to take a few weeks to customize the frame to fit your game.

I feel like need more weight for putaway power, because I have a modern forehand like Djoco or Wawrinka hitting through the ball and not the wristy next gen one. Thanks for the review, Beckett! I’m on my journey to find a new racquet and seriously considering the VCORE Pro 97D. In my opinion, the key factor in a racquet is the size of the sweet spot and how stable it is when you hit outside of that sweet spot. I have noticed that with my current racquet (Pure Aero 2016 probably strung too tightly with rpm blast at 52lbs). I’ve noticed that most of the points I lose come from not hitting the sweet spot, therefore missing in the net or delivering a soft ball that my opponent can attack. Do you think the VCORE Pro 97D has a big sweet spot? If not, do you know of any controlled oriented racquet (other than the gravity pro) that has a big sweet spot and is stable when not hit in the center. I am a 4.5-5.0 player with good serve and volley but who struggles when forced to rally from the back of the court. Thanks

    Dude … at 3:01 did you just headbutt the ball in disgust? If so, I approve wholeheartedly!
    I appreciate your honesty, especially the part about “I am the smartest person that I know” … I feel the same way.😂
    I also appreciate that your honesty spills over into the subjectivity of your evaluation, we are only human after all.
    However, I feel that you (and your are far from being alone on this) are thinking “singles” - whereas I play only doubles.
    Your assessment was not unfair. The racquets that you included when comparing the 97D … many were actually racquets that I own and love to play with.
    Doubles is all about teamwork, control and touch - which invites sub-100 headsize and tighter string patterns. I was born in 1970 and as a junior I started with timber frames (340+ grams & 70-80 sq.in. headsize) … in the pursuit of speed, we have traded control.
    You don’t have to be especially talented to use a “player’s racquet” - they are enormous and lighter compared to what I was given as an eleven year old. My observations should not detract from your efforts and evaluations, which I thought were great.
    My point is that there is still a place in the 21st century from sub-100 sq.in. racquets with tighter patterns. The tennis industry, vanilla, norm is 100 sq.in. a 16x19 pattern and in a 285-305 gram … I say, be not afraid of the 90s headsize; don’t rely solely on a top-spin game; and I would let your personal physique guide your weight of racquet.
    All things considered, as a doubles player, I am always thinking team not me; my spatial opportunities are less; and touch is often my friend over brute force.
    Your video was really well considered. I don’t comment on 95% of the UA-cams I watch and should consider my comments as friendly and constructive.
    I subscribed as soon as I was at the 3:01 mark - props. 😎🥳👍🏻

One friend told me Vcore 95 could be good for my game as I hit forehand with lots of topspin, however I am used to really lowpowered head light rackets and I find out a bit complicated to play with the vcore95, I lack of control I hit like Rafa's forehand but I only 4 or 5 of each 10 are in, so does not help.
      I am considering to switch back to 315 prostaff version or find out another control frame as vcore95 is not in the same league, good racket but too much power for me.

      The v14 PS97 has a firmer feel and higher swingweight (more plow through) than the v13. All together it’s more powerful for me, but the power is very natural and controllable been it’s mostly comes from more mass in the head. This might get you closer to the RF feel without so much extra weight.

      @@MotoNoir86 The speed is definitely more forgiving. The thicker beam gives you a lot more power on off centre shots. Topspin is a lot better on the Speed as well, you can hit a pretty heavy ball with it. The main deal breaker for me with thee Speed Pro is that it feels really flexy near the top of the hoop. This was noticeable enough that I found the launch angle to be inconsistent up there as well as some mild discomfort. All-in-all, I just didn't feel confident with the Speed Pro because I couldn't trust the frame if I contacted the ball too high up.

I just love the feel when hitting the ball, i m more relaxed hitting hard cause it offers so much control so i dont overthink. This is going to be my new racket, everything clicked. Only downside as you said is on defense, just harder to swing due to weight, loose those extra milisecond to be well positioned to hit back, also small detaik but size of my 4 3/8 fell a lot thicker that other rackets of other brands. I ll need to either go a size down and put extra grip or using a super thin grip cause it just fell too chunky at that size. But overall the buttery pop/ feeling is beyond sensational
