Were you able to report the surf scoter to a local wildlife rehab? If it's covered in oil it will need all the help it can get.
I talked to the visitors center and they said they would take care of it!

Thanks! Don't do as I do and go bo birding in the morning haha. The afternoon haze is wild out here.

@@RogerMacKertich For fall migration it's more of a steady trickle starting in Mid-late August and going until early November.

That duck looked like a female surf scoter. I have no idea what kind of flycatcher that was. Empids are tough
