    I've seen a Loggerhead Shrike only once in Maryland, my home state. Would love to see one again and get a picture. Have also seen a Northern Shrike once. They are awesome birds! Thanks for sharing your birding experiences!

    That seems like a great place! I recently saw Loggerhead shrikes in Florida and Texas. I was really excited to see the first one, and then they just kept popping up everywhere I went on that trip! We have Northern Shrikes where I live, but only in the winter and they're pretty uncommon so I was expecting Loggerheads to be tougher than they really are!

      Haha I know what you mean. I saw this one about 2 weeks ago (the videos are a bit backed up right now) and I've seen like 10 since haha.

    This looks like a great hotspot. I've seen the Loggerhead Shrike before, but not Northern. They do both cross-over here.
    Your videos always make me miss the southwest birds!

      The Southwest is great for birding. I do get jealous of other regions' birds though. Thanks for watching!

    Seems like a great spot for birding ! I’ve seen loggerhead shrikes in Indio, California and cactus wrens in Joshua tree. Both beautiful birds! Still need to check Phainopeplas off my list !

    Similar to Loggerhead. In the UK we get Great Grey Shrike in Winter.Its very scarce though.Had brilliant views of one in Thetford Forest earlier this year.
    I've also had a good few days Birding.
    RSPB Titchwell on Norfolk coast, A great mix of Beach,Reedbed and Woodland habitat.
    Today I was at RSPB Frampton Marsh.
    It's an epic wetland reserve. Large numbers of staying Brent Geese there with a single rare Red Breasted Goose with them. Also a Black Winged Stilt.
    Avocet are making a comeback which is great to see

    How do you identify birds you have never seen before? iPhone photo ID? Merlin Bird photo id?

    • @brighteyedbirding
      @brighteyedbirding  Місяць тому

      That's a good question. I typically use the Merlin ID app. But if I'm still not sure I usually go to a illustrated field guide. As a last resort I will post a photo in the ABA What's This Bird Facebook group.
