The Shoebill bird’s distribution is in Africa. You should also visit Hong Kong 🇭🇰, SAR, in the new Territories to track down the White-collared Crow, the Asian Koel (both MALE and FEMALE look and sound different), the Red-billed Blue Magoie, and the Oriental Magpie, as well as the Swallow-tailed Sunbird.
Oh yes I definitely wanna see those birds as well! They are all so beautiful!
Oh, by the way, another bird in the New Territories of Hong Kong 🇭🇰 SAR for you to discover, if / when you come to Hong Hong, is the Daurian Redstart. You can also try to find out if normal visitors can go to the Mai Po bird Sanctuary to observe birds there.
I’m in Oregon and we go out of our way to see lazuli buntings 😂 The idea of them being abundant is so envy-inspiring
I'm very jealous of all of the Varied Thrushes you have out there! Maybe we can swap birds for a few weeks haha
Laughed out loud at the dog poop part 😂 Hope it wasn’t too terrible to clean.
The shots of the birds are getting better and better! The Lazuli Bunting was my favorite for sure
Haha, it was awful. I was in sandals too! I literally slipped in it.
Thank you! Lazuli Buntings are just umatched in their beauty!
Yesssss to the Tody love! The Jamaican Tody is one of my all time favorite birds, and I'd love to see the other Todys in the Caribbean. Hope you get to see every bird on your list.
Picking a top five is hard and my list would change slightly depending on the day but here is a solid five:
5) Sword billed hummingbird
4) Quetzal
3) Shoebill stork
2) Tufted Coquette hummingbird
1) Greater Bird of Paradise
What an awesome list! Thanks for sharing! I sincerely hope you get to see everything as well!
My top 5.
5. Golden Pheasant.
4. Hoopoe
3. African-crowned Crane.
2. Gouldian Finch
Honorable Mentions.
Dusky Lory
Blue Bird of Paradise
Lilac Breasted Roller
Fiery-throated Hummingbird
Red-necked Tanager
Resplendent Quetzal
Black-backed Dwarf Kingfisher
Aracari
Toucan
1. Mandarin Duck
Way more than anyone wanted to know, but, it is what it is. They are all stunning!
I think you may have meant Gouldian Finch. Seeing Hoopoes is not a problem, they are common in Spain, Greece and Israel.
I would also love to see the yellow-throated toucan if I ever visit Costa Rica. Those were amazing birds you mentioned.
That was really cool getting to hear your top 5 most desired global birds. I would love to hear what your top 5 most sought-after birds of North America that you have yet to get.
I did that video a few weeks ago! Check it out here ------> ua-cam.com/video/rPDALTuckiw/v-deo.htmlsi=agMBa8TKLH2bD9Gi
The shoebill is definitely on my top 5 as well; such an awesome looking bird. Others in that list are the secretary bird, red-legged seriema, smooth-billed ani, and of course the southern cassowary. (I guess the ani technically doesn't count because they do live in southernmost Florida, but that might as well be a different country relative to where I am.)
That's an awesome list! I hope you get to see every single one of those birds!
Great video! I was lucky enough to see and photograph both crested quetzal and yellow-throated toucan in Ecuador a few months ago! I don’t really have a definitive top five birds I want to see but some of the ones that are definitely up there are Eastern Rosella, Keel-billed Toucan, Malachite Sunbird, Himalayan Monal, and the Raggiana bird of Paradise!
Oh wow I'm so jealous! What an amazing experience that must've been. That's an awesome list! I Hope you see every single one of them!
You should come up to the UP of Michigan around peak migration. Whitefish point is a great spot to find migrating raptors, passerines, owls, and water birds. Pretty much everything lol
Another great video! Come to Australia Jordan, it's a great birding destination. I've only seen the female Pink Robin, so the male is also high on my list.
Hi Jordan, My husband and I enjoy your channel! My husband has been birding since middle school (he’s 56 now) and we appreciate your enthusiasm.
You showed a Bobolink in this video. I think you would enjoy this one by Elliot Lang, where at about 1:36 he slows down the Bobolink call and its sounds like R2D2, so robotic!
We went to Equador and highly recommend Mindo (El Quetzal restraint), Angel Paz, Yanacocha, and Bella Vista. ☺️
Thanks for your videos!

Also, my official # for 11 days up and down the Andes 327. Mind blowing!
Hi Angie! Super happy to hear that you enjoy the videos! That means a lot to me!
That's awesome! It sounds just like R2D2 haha. And I'm a Star Wars fan so it makes me like the Boblink even more!
Oh wow! Someday I would LOVE to go there! Thanks for the suggestions! 327 is absolutely amazing as well! I can't even comprehend that haha.
Thanks for watching!
@@brighteyedbirding Yes, it was a bit overwhelming at times. We flew into Quito, went from the top of Papallacta, to the Amazon, and back up to Mindo and Rio Silanche. I know you are used to high altitudes, but remember to super hydrate over 9000 ft.
Hi! I enjoyed this and many of your other videos. A few thoughts on world birds you want to see:
1) Steller's Sea Eagle - most accessible spot is Japan in winter on the island of Hokkaido. (not including the stray in Nova Scotia, who knows how long that will last).
2) Penguins - I believe down at the bottom of Argentina/Chile should be more affordable than the Galapagos. There are day trips, check out UA-cam videos from Ushuaia, Argentina. Plus a Magellanic Woodpecker down there!
3) My family made a trip to Tanzania, where we saw Lilac-breasted Rollers. Tarangire is a good birding spot there, but I am sure other NP's in Tanzania, Kenya, or even South Africa would work.
Hope you take a peek at my videos on P.B. Child Birding sometime. Even if you don't, I hope to continue to enjoy yours!!
Thank you so much for all of these helpful tips! Insider information is key, so I'm super happy for your help!
Also checked out the channel and subscribed! Hope you continue to grow!
@@brighteyedbirding One more thing I forgot to mention - regarding the Tody. Probably the easiest way to see a Tody is to go to Puerto Rico. This is easier because it is part of the US, no passport necessary. The Puerto Rican Today is VERY similar to the Broad-billed Tody. You would need to go to a park there, like El Yunque or Guanica, but it is relatively easy to find in natural areas like that. Good luck on all your adventures!
Th only one of your top 5 I’ve seen is the Yellow-throated Toucan, also saw the Keek-billed Toucan, both in Panama. I live in Eugene OR and Lazuli Buntings are all over right now.
Oh wow, I am so jealous of your toucan sightings! Lazuli Buntings are a great bird to have around!
GOOGLE tells me that the BOBOLINK travels the equivalent of 4 to 5 times around the circumference of the earth . 😳😳
ALSO WHAT!! So jealous of the Wilson’s Warbler
Stroke of luck! It was all alone out there haha
