To get the best light out of the wicks on your oil lamps, soak the new and unused wicks in white vinegar for a day or so, then dry them out completely. They will burn white and bright after that.
Those single wall pipes will be fine as long as you clean it out regularly, there will be a a lot of creosote build up due to the temperature change as it heads outside. Those insulated chimneys are designed to reduce the temperature change between the cold steel and the exhaust gases. Nice dry hardwood will help reduce your issues as well. You should have a cleanout at the 90 elbow outside to make it easier on yourself. The product served its purpose well and provided excellent fires throughout the evening. Additionally, I wish they had replaced some of the standard nuts with lock nuts in some places. We lost the door handle after just a couple of days of usage. Not a deal breaker, just a recommendation. I still give it 5 stars.
Look into those soapstone heat blocks for the cabin. A block you can set on the woodstove for a few hours to prewarm the bed and give you extra heat after the fire has gone out will be useful in the small cabin and unlike a hot water bottle they can't freeze up if left in the cabin when away. If you have some of that old roof tin leftover you can make a quick and dirty heat shield for the cabin using sections of pipe as spacers to keep the tin an inch or so off the wall for a good airflow behind the shield. A plow truck is a temporary solution to a lifetime issue as the act of plowing damages the truck. A long term solution is a front mounted snowblower on something that can do 2-3 trips up and down the road in a good time with the driver/operator in comfort. Find yourself a rear mounted snowblower and a motor you can use to power it to make a self contained blower unit you can front mount on a tractor or on that backhoe removing the need for a front PTO output or a strong enough hydraulic system to run a blower.

Installed very many wood burning heaters/ stoves. Been surprised at what I found when I come past in a few weeks. Do not rely on flue kits, as they are made to a price, minimum safety. Add more, ALWAYS, through walls and ceilings. 3 , maybe 4 tubes in there, and a bit of aluminium, foil or reflectors wrapped or loosely screwed around close timbers.

Something to consider is getting a fire arrester for the fire place so if any embers escape it would catch them before it leaves the pipe. Love the work you do.
Cabin looks really good Heath . Ya did a fine job on it
Heath I'll stay at the little cabin on the hill.the stove looks great. Plus it now has a kinda old time charm. But maybe on towards the top I would put a twin rods supports to hold the pipe just under the roof line. Wife just made some homemade apple pie but I'm sure Cedar has already made one or two. Be careful and stay safe my friends keep pushing forward love you guys
Lovely, place that you have there. Beautiful, fall colors. 🍂🍁😊
Build a side or back porch on the little cabin for Cedar to cook on. Screen it in for summer. That would be nice.
Always feel inspired watching you. Another great video. Much love from Jamaica. 🇯🇲🇯🇲🇯🇲
Hey partner, your should pick up a (Cocoon Fan) for anywhere your using a fireplace to heat. There a pretty amazing thing. Just a thought friend.
