“Am I growing as fast as I’m supposed to be growing?”
Too many new drummers begin to doubt their progress because they feel like they’re not growing as fast as others.
But what are the mile markers? Where are the goal posts? How can you REALLY measure your progress and objectively KNOW if you’re on track?
The secret is… you have to have a METHOD that you’re following.
WITH a method, drumming growth is inevitable, you become unstoppable, and you master the drums.
(Put above sentence on screen, then below sentence separately immediately afterward)
WITHOUT a method, you’re scattered, failing to grow over the long term, and you most likely end up giving up without ever realizing your dream.
But this won’t be you, because you’re going to take action on the method I’m teaching you today, which shows you exactly how to get from Beginner to ready-to-play-with-a-band (and beyond) in 6 steps. YOU CAN DO THIS!
I believe that ANYONE can learn the drums, and I believe you’re far more capable of becoming a great drummer than you think you are. Don’t sell yourself short! SUBSCRIBE for more Non Glamorous videos that get straight to the point of solving drumming frustration. Stay Non Glamorous, Everyone!

Great video! I started playing drums January of this year and your videos have helped me get to that point where I am ready to perform with the group I jam with! Thank you for all the content

Thank you for this!!! I've reached a point in my development where I'm just confused about how to move forward and grow. Confusion = anxiety = being overwhelmed = not wanting to practice. I now have a clear, detailed road map. You're the best!

Exactly my sentiments I want to learn but it's like learning a new language you never feel like your really ever good enough, very discouraged in my lack of growth trying for 2 years now

Hi Stephen, I'm on day 26 of your 30 days Coordination Guide. I started playing mid Feb '24, and I'm practising every day. I start with stick control, then do some new co-ordination grooves, then find some music to play along with for fun, as per your recommendations. This is a great balance. I can't wait to get my kit out every day to practise, even though I've come to this late in life. Thanks for all the detail you share, it suits me really well.

Hey everybody, I am in the membership for a little over half a year. I started between stages 2 and 3 and now am arriving in stage 4, the gigging drummer and I have a whole lot of fun with this.
The method works! I was okay in hand technique, but lacking in the coordination department.
With Stephen pointing out my growth potential and providing things to practice that targeted the areas that needed the most working on, I overcame the roadblock and developed beyond where I was in my teens.
All the people in the non glamorous community helped a lot in my development. Be it by encouraging me to try new things like recording and video editing, by pointing out my strengths and the things I should probably practice more, like hitting the center of the drum even if I am on an E-kit, or just posting their videos to inspire and demonstrate their growth.
Hanging out with Stephen and the troupe every month is great too.
As Stephen released the new success path just recently I revisit the early stages now and polish my foundations. This is gold!
The most important things I learned here are:
Take your time. Everybody develops in different areas in different speed.
Don't compare to others, but to your last week self.
Practice slowly and with intent and attention. Review what you practice, record yourself and be honest with yourself.
Consistency is key. 30, even 15 minutes a day make more progress then two 4 hours sessions a week.
Wish I had this method 7 years ago. Then I'd have my own channel by now. 😉

Great video and great guide, Stephen! I'm still working through a paid online course with DrumAmbition, but I've also started supplementing my practice sessions with your 30 Days to 4 Way Coordination guide. I'm loving the guide and finding that the two work very well side by side for me. I am going to look at this method guide you have given us and plan to start with it after I finish my paid course. Thank you for all of the very valuable free instruction you give us, even if we are not your paying students! You have certainly been a big help to me over the last year as I started my drum journey and I'm sure you will continue to be a great help in my drumming future!

How do you like Drumeo I'm signed up to Drum Beats Online. I like it but I seem to be spending more time on UA-cam. And there is a good selection of songs to play along with but it seems like everything that I want to learn is not on there. I'm guessing drumeo has more songs than drum beats online

I think your content is informative and your body of work is extensive, but the pitch sounds a bit like late night infomercials selling weight loss and get rich products. I'm interested in seeing the guide and maybe this pitch-man thing is a merely a schtick for the sake of entertainment. Still, it makes me uneasy about signing up for something (the site seems to require my email address).
