I think the reason Shanks went to Wano is that he has a vivre card of Luffy. I mean it makes sense if you've put all your chips on someone then you'd want a way to monitor their progress and keep an eye on them. And when that card starts to burn, you're gonna rush over to wherever they are. And once it burned away they probably were on their way to retrieve the Nika Nika no Mi. In fact, we've seen Shanks appear just after Luffy was on the verge of death before too. Right after Luffy almost died to Magellan, Shanks appeared at Marineford.

Tekking, it’s totally possible Shanks wanted to sail around the island and look for any marine ships or anyone trying to interfere with Luffy’s success, knowing Luffy is probably still recovering after fighting with two yonkos. If you think about it, Luffy is still recovering, the whole island is still recovering from the battle. Shanks I’m sure realized that if two yonkos went down on unallied territory to the govt., that the government probably wants to secure the fallen yonkos and capture Luffy and Robin while they are still recovering, AND take over Wano while it’s in disarray. It’s the perfect chance for the government to seize so much control all at once. I’m sure Shanks knew this and he’s looking to see that the government can’t take advantage of the situation. I’d put money that if he sees green bull’s ship, then he will make green bull leave before Luffy finds out about shanks or green bull even being there. Then they leave. This is my theory
The last part of your comment fits in perfectly with 1055 spoilers. Spoilers .............. From what I know, in 1055 Shanks' haki is so powerful that it literally causes greenbull to flee from Wano. Which ties in perfectly with what you said about Shanks wanting to make green bull leave to prevent him for interfering with Luffy.
Only Garp knew that Shanks is Luffy's friend. Ain't that odd. Shanks never saved Luffy at Marineford. He just lets the admirals attack Luffy on his way to escape. He's maintaning some sort of "balance" and Luffy just happens to be a HUGE part of it.
I'm thinking the Nika fruit could have gave Shanks the compulsion to attack the ship. Like, he didn't know what was in the ship but was sudden super hyped to attack it. Nika is known for getting folks to follow its lead (with the drums and such).
This is the first time I see this and it sounds good and reasonable. The zoan fruits do evidently have a will of their own - if Shanks can hear the voice of all things, or anything of the sort, this may be an absolute reason for the Raid Haireds to attack the ship. Appreciate it!

Honestly I think this explanation is much better than just saying Shanks knew all along about the Nika Nika fruit. Which imo poses a few issues if Shanks did know beforehand
The biggest thing to consider is that Shanks was probably at Wano in case Luffy needed his help, but left because he saw Luffy succeed in beating Kaido and Big Mom. Probably for the same reason he was at Marineford because (assuming he knew Luffy and Ace were “brothers”) knowing Luffy would go to save Ace is pretty predictable given his character
If true that means shanks can see what luffy sees thru the eyes of the Strawhat, he pulls up when luffy is on the verge of death, then again he didnt show up in alabasta when luffy was near death a few times to crocodile
My personal head-cannon is, Shanks was in the East Blue looking for Roger's child(Ace) to take him as an apprentice, and was going to give him the fruit and hat. Luffy eating it just forced him to adjust.

The two times Luffy was really at death's door shanks was there. In impel down he was still bound in battle with Kaidou, but in Marineford he arrived just in time. And in wano he's also there. Maybe he has a Vivre Card from back in the day.
I really like the idea that the Gomu-Gomu no Mi can communicate with people who can hear the voice of all things, and the only noise it makes is childish laughter. Shanks probably just followed it all the way to the ship
I like the theory that shank was looking for ace to give him the gomu gomu no mi. Ace is the legacy of Roger and Roger alway intended for Ace to be his successor when he talk to whitebeard. Maybe Shank trying to fulfill Roger final wish, making Ace becoming Joyboy. That would explain why Shank come to a island in the middle of nowhere in the east blue after getting the fruit.

Shanks was asked by Roger to get that fruit to Ace (his son who he claimed would get the One Piece) But Luffy happened to eat it and Shanks saw it as fate, and started supporting Luffy

I have been thinking about Sanji’s desire to get the clear clear fruit. He had to have read the encyclopedia as a kid. Back when he was with Judge and back then he didn’t have his “Fixations”. What if Sanji wanted the clear clear fruit to hide from his family without having to leave. Kid Sanji was basically tortured on sight whenever anyone in his family besides his mother spotted him. If he could turn invisible he’d be able to stay home, close to his mother, and not be caught by us father or sibling.
I LOVE the theory of Shanks going to eat the fruit as a victory celebration and the fact that he knew about the fruits power BECAUSE it would put a lot of context behind the reason why Shanks even HAS the Strawhat as well as follow up to pass it along to Luffy. Because apparently the Stawhat represents JoyBoy and I think he knew all of this because of Roger and Luffy just threw a wrench in the plan. I love it!
14:27 I had a theory about that. What if, the whole dieing because you eat 2 Devilfruits is only canon if, you eat 2 of the same types. Meaning you can eat 1 Paramecia, 1 Logia and 1 Zoan and be fine. But you can't eat 2 Zoan, or 2 Paramecia, or 2 Logia .
It actually only makes sense it's an ability of blackbeards fruit otherwise he could have had another df all along and just switched to the Yami Yami when he found it
Considering throughout the story we hear so much about the Voice of All Things, and also because Oda went out of his way to have Kaido question who Luffy was in G5 and Luffy responded that it's still him, it's not like he was hearing the voice of Joyboy or anything. I really don't think the fruit on Who's Who's ship actually spoke words to Shanks, it probably moreso compelled him or otherwise reached out to him as more of a feeling, and he being Shanks understood the feeling and decided to go after it. In fact, it's possible that since it was such a unique fruit, labeled as mythical person Sun God, it could have sent out that feeling in all directions, like a radius, and it wanted any pirate with strong enough Conqueror's Haki to come rescue it. Or like you said, the nearest "D" who was strong enough to notice. We don't know for sure that it reached out to Shanks just because it was Shanks.
I'm just wondering what Shanks did when he visited the Gorosei, and how it plays into all this. Did we ever get a follow up to that? Because I imagine if the World Government knew that it was Shanks who stole the fruit, then wouldn't the Gorosei have their sights set on Shanks before they found out that it was Luffy who ate it all along?
What if shanks going after the gomu gomu no mi was because of the voice of all things. Maybe because the fruit is a mythical Zoan it is somehow connected to the real Sun god Nika and was crying for help because it didn’t want to get eaten by a marine and have their powers given to one. Shanks heard this cry for help and went to go take it from them.
As for why Shanks was going to Wano if he wasn't planning to meet Luffy, Pluton is part of the One Piece and it's in Wano. Shanks was just going to Wano in case the raid failed, he would've tried to stop Big Mom and Kaido from getting Pluton. When the raid succeeded there was no longer any reason to go to Wano and they turned around.
Side Note: I would like to think that Shanks has a plan and it requires kaido to be out of commission, or dead, right now and he was there as insurance.
On paper (manga) Shanks is on the light side, or Sun side. From the very start in Chapter 1 before Luffy had eatin the D. Fruit, we witness his layed back nature with his crew in the bar. Getting disrespected and dirtied by the Higuma mountain bandits. Unconcerned, Not wasting any energy and Haki on them, but as soon as they touch his friend Luffy, He goes out for blood. We see Luffy do the very same thing in Mock town with Bellamy's crew. Rayleigh always has Shanks In high regard, and hints at being Luffy's final teacher with Haki. Shanks ship has a Sun symbol at its Head. He also was willing to throw down with Akainu and the rest of them no questions asked, for what??. Shanks is def surrounded with a cloud of mystery but so far up to CH 1054 their is no evidence, no clarity of Him betraying Luffy, Roger, or his ultimate direction. ODA will def throw a curve ball but it won't be Shanks being evil or whatever. Film Red ultimately puts Red Hair on the Sunny side of things. 👋🏿👋🏾👋🏼
I feel like the fruits will’s are more so like an exuding influence, rather than literally speaking to you. So like the hito hito no mi is the sun god fruit, nika is all about freedom, so the fruit exudes freedom. and i assume it can like feel what is happening around it, like how fujitora can “see” the true natures of people while being blind. so when it senses that it is captured or is around oppressive people, it send out “freedom vibes,” if you will, hahaha, which are absorbed by those with high senses of freedom, and they are unknowingly attracted to it. which is why Shanks, for seemingly no real reason, was just like “Yeah! let’s go attack them! just cuz!” and then it could be the same reason why Luffy ate the fruit. because the freedom vibes exuding from the fruit reached him, and we all know he has a very high sense of freedom (which i also believe has been enhanced now after having the fruit for so long), and he was attracted to it, influenced by it, and not knowing any better he just ate it
Its interesting to see how shanks crew works, for me it seems that no one know really what shanks is planning but they all just blindly trust on him and got his back, but it appeared to me that no one really knows what hes thinking. Except for Beckman, he seems to be the closer to shanks and even thought he possibly not know what shanks is thinking, i think he know him pretty well and knows his intentions with 100%. It seems like some of shanks orders can surprise or wont be understand by even the commanders (Yassop, Lucky, etc) except for beckmand that was probably expecting that. Also i think shanks knew that the government ship had the nika fruit and he intentionally attack it. Like he is not the guy that would cause caos if its not necesarry and thats probably why everyone was confused by that order. So shanks seems to be the guy thats acts calmly and seems to be peaceful, but its slowly controlling the situation, setting everything as he would like and you wont expect that from the "weakest yonko" that doesnt cause trouble.
I like to interpret the “zoans have a will of their own” as the sudo telepathic way you describe, but it makes more sense to me if it’s less exposition and more of an urge or pull, kinda like how conquerors haki effects people, effecting them directly as opposed to telling someone what to do
Wanna know what'd be funny? It just turns out Shanks stole the fruit not because he knew what it really was but because CP9 of ALL the possible guards they could have had! They went with CP9! Which Shanks being an absolute madlad! just decided to test his might against the world governments secret agents and won! Only reason Luffy was able to eat the fruit was cause Shanks genuinely let his guard down and ate the fruit, biggest plot twist of all! The only reason Shanks attacked and stole the "rubber" was cause he wanted to fight some strong World government agents and it just so happened there was a devil fruit with em... Well I think it'd be pretty funny...
In 1054, the way the conversation played out between shanks and his crew indicates that they didn't know cp9 would be on onboard. They seemed ready to board the navy ship and it's then that they realise cp9 was onboard. And one of them makes a remark along the lines of "sucks that cp9 would be here" i think.

The god valley incident involved the celestial dragons so cypher pole would have been involved there as well. And we know that shanks knows the gorosei so cypher pole would be the ones guarding the gorosei. Although were not sure if shanks knew them from when he was with roger or after he stole the df. Shanks has had his fair share of events with the WG and whenever the WG is involved, cypher pole will be involved as well.

My problem with Shanks knowing that it was the nika fruit is that I find it weird that if he knew how important it was, that he'd just leave Luffy unattended in the east. You'd think he'd bring him on his ship and train/ protect him right
Shanks wants to spur Luffy by providing him competition to the One piece / Laughtale. Among the top pirates or emperors, Blackbeard doesn't seem interested in going to laughtale and I don't think he has more than 1 road poneglyphs (if at all). Buggy doesn't have any. Xebec situation is unknown if he is actually alive or dead or just way too old. This only leaves Shanks who possibly knows the way to laughtale. So to conclude, the only competition Luffy faces amongst pirates is Shanks crew. So Shanks role would be to spur Luffy by providing competition, some obstacles n so on.
The previous members of the (newly dismembered) alliance to take down kaido also have road (load) poneglyphs, so that makes them not completely out of the picture.
I feel like Shanks is going to secure the One Piece, not outright "claim" it. There will be a Davy Back Fight between Strawhat Pirates and Red Haired Pirates. I'm predicting, Elbaf --> Davy Back Fight vs Shank's crew (at Laugh Tale) --> then an all-out war against the World Government after Luffy claims the One Piece that Blackbeard will make his move during. If I had to guess 5-10 more chapters of post-Wano/getting to Elbaf. Elbaf will be like 50ish chapters, then like a 10-20 chapter Davy Back Fight vs Shanks and his crew, then the world war will be like 100-150+ chapters. I suppose there would also be an epilogue of sorts tying up shit like Brooke meeting Laboon at Reverse Mountain (assuming the Red Line isn't just destroyed by then), Sanji returning to visit the Baratie after the All Blue is created (Red Line falling), Usopp going back to Syrup Village and telling everyone about his adventures as a brave warrior of the sea, etc. Though I imagine this would just be one final chapter that is like twice as long as a regular chapter. So roughly 200ish chapters remaining across like 5 years, which would bring One Piece to a close after THIRTY YEARS.
I seen a theory by sawyer7mage. Saying Blackbeard’s third fruit was actually his first and it was the human fruit model Davey Jones. With the ability being able to store anything in his “locker” even the soul of a devil fruit
I think the safest place for the Gomu-Gomu fruit is right near Shanks. Taking the fruit from Shanks is like taking a drink out of Kaido's hand... Not something your average person will do. Luffy was never a threat. Especially when it comes to stealing the fruit. And maybe the fruit chose Luffy and Shanks thought so too. It can escape governments yet let itself get eaten by a kid? Just my guess.
I still don’t think Shanks knew the true nature of the gomu-gomu at the time. Even Who’s-Who thought it was just some random, mediocre Devil fruit. Shanks just having it laying on the counter would make sense if he didn’t know how important it is.
Shanks is challenging Luffy to beat him to the one piece. That’s how Luffy can prove he is a great pirate and finally live up to the Hat. Shanks’ mentor was the greatest pirate so the only way Luffy can live up to what a great pirate is in Shanks’ mind is do what only Roger did before him. Shanks is the only real challenge left to find Laughtale. No one besides Roger’s remnants and The Strawhats have the means to find Laughtale so Shanks is putting that race into gear.
Maybe Shanks is now going for the one piece because he has the pieces in place that he needs to get the one piece. Remember that Roger said he was there too early. Maybe the Sun God is needed for the one piece. But there also could be a reason why nobody has a devil fruit in Shank's crew...
For me it seems almost obvious that Roger told Shanks about the fruit and how important it is. Maybe even that it's someone from the next generation that needs to get it in the end, which is why he didn't eat it himself. From that on he protected Luffy.
Maybe the power to draw others to you that luffy has, and the reason why shanks found the fruit are connected to the voice of all things. If the voice of all things allows your will, spirit and intentions to be conveyed to people without talking, and also subconsciously draws people affected by it closer to whoever used it; that could explain shanks finding the fruit. The mythical spirit inside the devil fruit could use the voice of all things to get shanks attention. Nothing crazy like the fruit manipulates fate and forced shanks to find it but if the fruit uses the voice of all things, shanks might not recognize it or even be able to understand it; but it could draw him closer to where it came from. Causing him to find the fruit
Maybe the mythical zoan fruits have a connection to the voice of all things. Like how Zunesha felt the return of JoyBoy when Luffy achieved Gear 5. I dunno, just one of those late night thoughts.
I think it was smarter for Shanks to keep the DF in the bar with him and his entire crew rather than leave it unguarded or lightly guarded on the ship.
My theory is that it was more of the fruit emitting a wave of energy that that draws or repels certain types of people. •If the zoan fruits truly do have some sort of sentience, for lack of a better term, it could have sensed Shanks will and natural character, and sent out its own energy to draw shanks to it for the purpose of getting it away from the would government. •As for why Shanks didn't eat it and didn't leave it locked up in a safe on the ship, that same theory could be used to explain it. ~The fruit urged Shanks to take it and keep it safe, but to not eat it because it sensed Luffy's will and chose him to inherit the power it possessed. ~We also never actually see the chest the fruit was stored in or how Luffy got hold of the fruit in the manga. That is entirely an anime adaptation. In the manga it is literally a single panel of Luffy munching on some random fruit while watching the bandit/Shanks exchange and it isn't until after the bandits leave and Luffy is fixing to leave, when Shanks grabs his arm and it stretches out a full seven pages after the panel where he is eating it and the one who has the empty chest and drawing of the fruit is Lucky Roux who is halfway across the entire bar from Luffy by the time the bandits show up and when they leave. •These then draws the questions of where was the chest in the first place? •Who was supposed to be guarding/watching over it? •And how did Luffy get it with NOBODY IN THE ENTIRE BAR noticing? ~Going with the energy theory, the fruit itself willed no one to notice it EXCEPT for Luffy and for Luffy to eat it. •Luffy's reaction to the fruit when he ate it was also different than the few other reactions we have seen from people eating devil fruits. ~Most all other examples we have seen when a fruit is eaten is complete disgust at the taste, but Luffy's reaction is just passively saying that it tasted kind of bad after he has already entirely eaten it. ~Maybe it's a, "side effect" of the natural comparability between the will of the fruit and whoever eats it. Like the less compatible someone's will is with the will of the fruit, the more disgusting the fruit will taste when you eat it. ~~Some examples are when Sabo ate Ace's fruit in chapter 744, he simply comments that it's disgusting, goes bleh, and then goes to save Rebecca. ~~Where as oppositely, when Kaku and Kalifa eat their devil fruits in chapter 385, they legitimately look like they are about to puke. ~~Four different devil fruits eaten with very different reactions. And even if we just limit it to zoans, Luffy and Kaku's reactions are both extremely different. Even if we chalk it up to all three scenes being drawn at very different times of the story and how fleshed out it was at those points, I still wouldn't put it past Oda sensei to pull an excuse like that for the differences of reactions as well as the plot loopholes it has created. 🤣🤣🤣
You mentioned communicating through Haki. We saw shanks possibly doing that to green bull via conquerers Haki, AND we still don't know how Luffy contacted everyone on Law's submarine when he was about to drown. Maybe Luffy subconsciously used his haki to call Laws crew the same way Shanks used his haki to threaten Green Bull.

It might be known to pirates that the WG and therefore CP aswell have easy access to DF, so plundering a CP ship might be a jackpot sometimes, if you have a strong team to succeed. Maybe that's what happened with Shanks attacking the CP ship
Was considering this with my brother the other day and thought about how what if Shanks wasn't at Wano because of Luffy exactly. He was there to bring down Big mom and Kaido because if they'd won, they would be in the way of whatever his plan is for finding the One piece. This is assuming they kill Luffy and everyone else in that time-line. Found out about Luffy winning when he finally got there because of the News Coo being late.

Shanks I’m sure realized that if two yonkos went down on unallied territory to the govt., that the government probably wants to secure the fallen yonkos and capture Luffy and Robin while they are still recovering, AND take over Wano while it’s in disarray. It’s the perfect chance for the government to seize so much control all at once. I’m sure Shanks knew this and he’s looking to see that the government can’t take advantage of the situation. I’d put money that if he sees green bull’s ship, then he will make green bull leave before Luffy finds out about shanks or green bull even being there. Then they leave. This is my theory

From what I know, in 1055 Shanks' haki is so powerful that it literally causes greenbull to flee from Wano. Which ties in perfectly with what you said about Shanks wanting to make green bull leave to prevent him for interfering with Luffy.
Only Garp knew that Shanks is Luffy's friend. Ain't that odd. Shanks never saved Luffy at Marineford. He just lets the admirals attack Luffy on his way to escape. He's maintaning some sort of "balance" and Luffy just happens to be a HUGE part of it.

I'm thinking the Nika fruit could have gave Shanks the compulsion to attack the ship. Like, he didn't know what was in the ship but was sudden super hyped to attack it. Nika is known for getting folks to follow its lead (with the drums and such).
This is the first time I see this and it sounds good and reasonable. The zoan fruits do evidently have a will of their own - if Shanks can hear the voice of all things, or anything of the sort, this may be an absolute reason for the Raid Haireds to attack the ship. Appreciate it!

The biggest thing to consider is that Shanks was probably at Wano in case Luffy needed his help, but left because he saw Luffy succeed in beating Kaido and Big Mom. Probably for the same reason he was at Marineford because (assuming he knew Luffy and Ace were “brothers”) knowing Luffy would go to save Ace is pretty predictable given his character

The two times Luffy was really at death's door shanks was there. In impel down he was still bound in battle with Kaidou, but in Marineford he arrived just in time. And in wano he's also there. Maybe he has a Vivre Card from back in the day.

I have been thinking about Sanji’s desire to get the clear clear fruit. He had to have read the encyclopedia as a kid. Back when he was with Judge and back then he didn’t have his “Fixations”.
What if Sanji wanted the clear clear fruit to hide from his family without having to leave. Kid Sanji was basically tortured on sight whenever anyone in his family besides his mother spotted him. If he could turn invisible he’d be able to stay home, close to his mother, and not be caught by us father or sibling.
I LOVE the theory of Shanks going to eat the fruit as a victory celebration and the fact that he knew about the fruits power BECAUSE it would put a lot of context behind the reason why Shanks even HAS the Strawhat as well as follow up to pass it along to Luffy. Because apparently the Stawhat represents JoyBoy and I think he knew all of this because of Roger and Luffy just threw a wrench in the plan. I love it!

Considering throughout the story we hear so much about the Voice of All Things, and also because Oda went out of his way to have Kaido question who Luffy was in G5 and Luffy responded that it's still him, it's not like he was hearing the voice of Joyboy or anything.
I really don't think the fruit on Who's Who's ship actually spoke words to Shanks, it probably moreso compelled him or otherwise reached out to him as more of a feeling, and he being Shanks understood the feeling and decided to go after it.
In fact, it's possible that since it was such a unique fruit, labeled as mythical person Sun God, it could have sent out that feeling in all directions, like a radius, and it wanted any pirate with strong enough Conqueror's Haki to come rescue it. Or like you said, the nearest "D" who was strong enough to notice. We don't know for sure that it reached out to Shanks just because it was Shanks.

What if shanks going after the gomu gomu no mi was because of the voice of all things. Maybe because the fruit is a mythical Zoan it is somehow connected to the real Sun god Nika and was crying for help because it didn’t want to get eaten by a marine and have their powers given to one. Shanks heard this cry for help and went to go take it from them.
Shanks heard the story from Roger, found the fruit by chance, and then probably wanted to fulfill Roger’s prophecy by giving it to Ace…

As for why Shanks was going to Wano if he wasn't planning to meet Luffy, Pluton is part of the One Piece and it's in Wano. Shanks was just going to Wano in case the raid failed, he would've tried to stop Big Mom and Kaido from getting Pluton. When the raid succeeded there was no longer any reason to go to Wano and they turned around.

On paper (manga) Shanks is on the light side, or Sun side. From the very start in Chapter 1 before Luffy had eatin the D. Fruit, we witness his layed back nature with his crew in the bar. Getting disrespected and dirtied by the Higuma mountain bandits. Unconcerned, Not wasting any energy and Haki on them, but as soon as they touch his friend Luffy, He goes out for blood.
We see Luffy do the very same thing in Mock town with Bellamy's crew. Rayleigh always has Shanks In high regard, and hints at being Luffy's final teacher with Haki. Shanks ship has a Sun symbol at its Head. He also was willing to throw down with Akainu and the rest of them no questions asked, for what??. Shanks is def surrounded with a cloud of mystery but so far up to CH 1054 their is no evidence, no clarity of Him betraying Luffy, Roger, or his ultimate direction. ODA will def throw a curve ball but it won't be Shanks being evil or whatever. Film Red ultimately puts Red Hair on the Sunny side of things. 👋🏿👋🏾👋🏼
I feel like the fruits will’s are more so like an exuding influence, rather than literally speaking to you. So like the hito hito no mi is the sun god fruit, nika is all about freedom, so the fruit exudes freedom. and i assume it can like feel what is happening around it, like how fujitora can “see” the true natures of people while being blind. so when it senses that it is captured or is around oppressive people, it send out “freedom vibes,” if you will, hahaha, which are absorbed by those with high senses of freedom, and they are unknowingly attracted to it. which is why Shanks, for seemingly no real reason, was just like “Yeah! let’s go attack them! just cuz!” and then it could be the same reason why Luffy ate the fruit. because the freedom vibes exuding from the fruit reached him, and we all know he has a very high sense of freedom (which i also believe has been enhanced now after having the fruit for so long), and he was attracted to it, influenced by it, and not knowing any better he just ate it

Its interesting to see how shanks crew works, for me it seems that no one know really what shanks is planning but they all just blindly trust on him and got his back, but it appeared to me that no one really knows what hes thinking. Except for Beckman, he seems to be the closer to shanks and even thought he possibly not know what shanks is thinking, i think he know him pretty well and knows his intentions with 100%. It seems like some of shanks orders can surprise or wont be understand by even the commanders (Yassop, Lucky, etc) except for beckmand that was probably expecting that.
Also i think shanks knew that the government ship had the nika fruit and he intentionally attack it. Like he is not the guy that would cause caos if its not necesarry and thats probably why everyone was confused by that order.
So shanks seems to be the guy thats acts calmly and seems to be peaceful, but its slowly controlling the situation, setting everything as he would like and you wont expect that from the "weakest yonko" that doesnt cause trouble.
I like to interpret the “zoans have a will of their own” as the sudo telepathic way you describe, but it makes more sense to me if it’s less exposition and more of an urge or pull, kinda like how conquerors haki effects people, effecting them directly as opposed to telling someone what to do

In 1054, the way the conversation played out between shanks and his crew indicates that they didn't know cp9 would be on onboard. They seemed ready to board the navy ship and it's then that they realise cp9 was onboard. And one of them makes a remark along the lines of "sucks that cp9 would be here" i think.

The god valley incident involved the celestial dragons so cypher pole would have been involved there as well. And we know that shanks knows the gorosei so cypher pole would be the ones guarding the gorosei. Although were not sure if shanks knew them from when he was with roger or after he stole the df.
Shanks has had his fair share of events with the WG and whenever the WG is involved, cypher pole will be involved as well.
Definitely an interesting theory, but the way the story is going seems to heavily imply that he knew exactly what the fruit was.

Shanks wants to spur Luffy by providing him competition to the One piece / Laughtale.
Among the top pirates or emperors, Blackbeard doesn't seem interested in going to laughtale and I don't think he has more than 1 road poneglyphs (if at all).
Buggy doesn't have any. Xebec situation is unknown if he is actually alive or dead or just way too old.
This only leaves Shanks who possibly knows the way to laughtale.
So to conclude, the only competition Luffy faces amongst pirates is Shanks crew. So Shanks role would be to spur Luffy by providing competition, some obstacles n so on.
The previous members of the (newly dismembered) alliance to take down kaido also have road (load) poneglyphs, so that makes them not completely out of the picture.

I feel like Shanks is going to secure the One Piece, not outright "claim" it. There will be a Davy Back Fight between Strawhat Pirates and Red Haired Pirates. I'm predicting, Elbaf --> Davy Back Fight vs Shank's crew (at Laugh Tale) --> then an all-out war against the World Government after Luffy claims the One Piece that Blackbeard will make his move during.
If I had to guess 5-10 more chapters of post-Wano/getting to Elbaf. Elbaf will be like 50ish chapters, then like a 10-20 chapter Davy Back Fight vs Shanks and his crew, then the world war will be like 100-150+ chapters. I suppose there would also be an epilogue of sorts tying up shit like Brooke meeting Laboon at Reverse Mountain (assuming the Red Line isn't just destroyed by then), Sanji returning to visit the Baratie after the All Blue is created (Red Line falling), Usopp going back to Syrup Village and telling everyone about his adventures as a brave warrior of the sea, etc. Though I imagine this would just be one final chapter that is like twice as long as a regular chapter. So roughly 200ish chapters remaining across like 5 years, which would bring One Piece to a close after THIRTY YEARS.

I think the safest place for the Gomu-Gomu fruit is right near Shanks. Taking the fruit from Shanks is like taking a drink out of Kaido's hand... Not something your average person will do. Luffy was never a threat. Especially when it comes to stealing the fruit. And maybe the fruit chose Luffy and Shanks thought so too. It can escape governments yet let itself get eaten by a kid? Just my guess.

Shanks is challenging Luffy to beat him to the one piece. That’s how Luffy can prove he is a great pirate and finally live up to the Hat. Shanks’ mentor was the greatest pirate so the only way Luffy can live up to what a great pirate is in Shanks’ mind is do what only Roger did before him. Shanks is the only real challenge left to find Laughtale. No one besides Roger’s remnants and The Strawhats have the means to find Laughtale so Shanks is putting that race into gear.
Maybe Shanks is now going for the one piece because he has the pieces in place that he needs to get the one piece. Remember that Roger said he was there too early. Maybe the Sun God is needed for the one piece. But there also could be a reason why nobody has a devil fruit in Shank's crew...

Maybe the power to draw others to you that luffy has, and the reason why shanks found the fruit are connected to the voice of all things. If the voice of all things allows your will, spirit and intentions to be conveyed to people without talking, and also subconsciously draws people affected by it closer to whoever used it; that could explain shanks finding the fruit. The mythical spirit inside the devil fruit could use the voice of all things to get shanks attention. Nothing crazy like the fruit manipulates fate and forced shanks to find it but if the fruit uses the voice of all things, shanks might not recognize it or even be able to understand it; but it could draw him closer to where it came from. I think it was smarter for Shanks to keep the DF in the bar with him and his entire crew rather than leave it unguarded or lightly guarded on the ship.

My theory is that it was more of the fruit emitting a wave of energy that that draws or repels certain types of people.
•If the zoan fruits truly do have some sort of sentience, for lack of a better term, it could have sensed Shanks will and natural character, and sent out its own energy to draw shanks to it for the purpose of getting it away from the would government.
•As for why Shanks didn't eat it and didn't leave it locked up in a safe on the ship, that same theory could be used to explain it.
~The fruit urged Shanks to take it and keep it safe, but to not eat it because it sensed Luffy's will and chose him to inherit the power it possessed.
~We also never actually see the chest the fruit was stored in or how Luffy got hold of the fruit in the manga. That is entirely an anime adaptation. In the manga it is literally a single panel of Luffy munching on some random fruit while watching the bandit/Shanks exchange and it isn't until after the bandits leave and Luffy is fixing to leave, when Shanks grabs his arm and it stretches out a full seven pages after the panel where he is eating it and the one who has the empty chest and drawing of the fruit is Lucky Roux who is halfway across the entire bar from Luffy by the time the bandits show up and when they leave.
•These then draws the questions of where was the chest in the first place?
•Who was supposed to be guarding/watching over it?
•And how did Luffy get it with NOBODY IN THE ENTIRE BAR noticing?
~Going with the energy theory, the fruit itself willed no one to notice it EXCEPT for Luffy and for Luffy to eat it.
•Luffy's reaction to the fruit when he ate it was also different than the few other reactions we have seen from people eating devil fruits.
~Most all other examples we have seen when a fruit is eaten is complete disgust at the taste, but Luffy's reaction is just passively saying that it tasted kind of bad after he has already entirely eaten it.
~Maybe it's a, "side effect" of the natural comparability between the will of the fruit and whoever eats it. Like the less compatible someone's will is with the will of the fruit, the more disgusting the fruit will taste when you eat it.
~~Some examples are when Sabo ate Ace's fruit in chapter 744, he simply comments that it's disgusting, goes bleh, and then goes to save Rebecca.
~~Where as oppositely, when Kaku and Kalifa eat their devil fruits in chapter 385, they legitimately look like they are about to puke.
~~Four different devil fruits eaten with very different reactions. And even if we just limit it to zoans, Luffy and Kaku's reactions are both extremely different. Even if we chalk it up to all three scenes being drawn at very different times of the story and how fleshed out it was at those points, I still wouldn't put it past Oda sensei to pull an excuse like that for the differences of reactions as well as the plot loopholes it has created. 🤣🤣🤣

We saw shanks possibly doing that to green bull via conquerers Haki, AND we still don't know how Luffy contacted everyone on Law's submarine when he was about to drown.
Maybe Luffy subconsciously used his haki to call Laws crew the same way Shanks used his haki to threaten Green Bull.

It might be known to pirates that the WG and therefore CP aswell have easy access to DF, so plundering a CP ship might be a jackpot sometimes, if you have a strong team to succeed. Maybe that's what happened with Shanks attacking the CP ship

Was considering this with my brother the other day and thought about how what if Shanks wasn't at Wano because of Luffy exactly. He was there to bring down Big mom and Kaido because if they'd won, they would be in the way of whatever his plan is for finding the One piece. This is assuming they kill Luffy and everyone else in that time-line. Found out about Luffy winning when he finally got there because of the News Coo being late.
