I like to think that the Warlord system came to be (I could be getting the timeline wrong) solely to get Mihawk to stop killing marines.
I was thinking the same thing, I wonder who came up with the idea?
it is kind of interesting if that is true... then that would make both Mihawk and Crocodile the longest serving of the warlords and now they are again working together in a loose alliance. No surprise with how casual they talk to each other if they had to deal with this shit for 15-20-ish years.
maybe not because of Mihawk only, but Mihawk probably was one of the reasons to create the warlord system.
They formed the warlords to stop the Yonko.

I think it would be paradoxical if Mihawk didn't have Conqueror's Haki. He literally has reached the peak of a swordsman's ambition.

But just imagine becoming that strong not having conquerors the entire time and then in the middle of his fight with Zorro he gets a new power up
@@DellizarSlit that would never happen. oda always sets the fights up in such a way that the opponent cant get stronger but the main cast can . if mihawk somehow gets stronger mid fight then zoro will need 2 more powerups which wont happen during the fight

You know, this analysis makes me think that Mihawk and Luffy both have some similar ideals as far as freedom goes. Both just want to be able to do what they want and value strength--and like good fights--its just that what Luffy wants to do involves adventure and chaos and Mihawk just basically wants to relax at home, quietly honing his skills and occasionally taking mini vacations in his coffin boat.

I like to think that assuming neither Shanks or Mihawk die at the end of the story that Zoro ends up cutting off Mihawk’s arm in there final battle and refuses to kill him because that was never what their fight was about. Then that would let Shanks and Mihawk continue their rivalry with them back on a “even footing”.
I would love this soooooo much! We need more Mihawk and Shanks interaction.

@@titekubo1997 Jinbe is a hard counter to Crocodile. And the only one that the SH don't have a hard counter for is Mihawk. But even Mihawk would have issues with most of the SHs. Usop is a pretty good counter because of the range, so is Robin. But let's be real, Zoro would beat him if it came to that. Buggy is a cartoon character so even though I think the power imbalance is too much Luffy is the natural pair there.

@@rpgtimefire No, I didn't actually. Pretty sure the distance between Usop and Sugar was further though. And if not that Enies Lobby is also further. If I'm wrong then cool, I can be wrong and am working from memory. But I still say Usop outranges just about anyone.
If Mihawk started his journey as a swordsman before or around Roger’s execution, when the great pirate age just began, there probably would have been far more marine swordsmen than pirate swordsmen at the time for him to clash with, hence marine hunter instead of Zoro’s pirate hunter.
Also, to add to strange historical animal facts, people in medieval Europe didn’t get to see rhinos in person, but they heard descriptions from travellers of an animal in the south with one single horn on its head, hence the basis for the unicorn. And people would sell narval teeth as unicorn horns. I saw one of those in the Musée de Cluny in Paris a few years ago, they are beautiful and majestic.

Mihawk is unique. Like you know when you play MMO games and you can only enter a dungeon with a party and at a certain lvl requirement. Mihawk never really had a party to match up against yonkos. And yonkos only fight other yonkos. Him and Buggy really go well together. It doesn't get mentioned. But I think the reason that Mihawk has a higher bounty is because the government doesn't recognize Buggys fighting abilities. Buggys the only yonko. Says in the last chapter, it's because of his history, organizations, and his *authority* to recruit Mihawk and Croc that he became a yonko. Buggy was never mistaken as a strong fighter, and it never counted into his bounty.

16:30 honestly I question why people don’t think Mihawk is more bloodthirsty. I think his “rule of cool” overshadows the fact that we’ve never really seen him as a person to show mercy. And this recent appearance in the buggy chapter sorta solidified this opinion for me that he’s actually way more ruthless than we give credit for.
What do you mean he literally save buggy from dying by crocodile hand.
I was thinking about it during the chapter. Like wow Mihawk is really vibrant and blood thirsty in this chapter and then I realize all of his past appearances was just him essentially being bored with no real challenge. Then we get him with Zoro and it’s seems like he has more omfp to him. Is with him being hunted again he’s starting to go back to the more Bloodthirsty side of him. He probably going to have more challenges from Marines, Pirates and Bounty Hunters alike who might have more skill then most like Vista. Yes he wants a peaceful existence but he also needs a challenge.
Something I found interesting was there’s a possibility that Mihawk was once betrayed. He’s the only pirate he goes around solo. Also after Buggy said that Mr. 3 betrayed him, Mihawk looked towards them and had the flashback of Crocodile asking him to join up. Crocodile then says “You and I are the same, we don’t trust anyone”. Perhaps Mihawk doesn’t trust anyone because he was once betrayed? Really hope we get a Mihawk backstory he seems so interesting to me.

I personally like the idea way more that Mihawk learned to swordfight from someone who maybe wasn't a pirate and who has no connections to Rayleigh and by extension Roger's crew.
I think he’s just a savant who trained before going out in the world. Cause he is never seen with any visible scars

i still feel like the idea that there is more powerful parties around the world that arent pirates or marines should've been explored more in the story, like bounty hunters for example, but maybe that would take too much away from the main story and thats why Oda decided to not explore too much that facet of the world

Tekking says mihawk wouldn't just cut someone he wanted to fight. Remember when he cut down kriegs fleet just cause he wanted some exercise. Mihawk looks classy but he can be just as hot blooded as Zoro.

find it funny that Mihawk is getting targeted while living a peaceful life alone on a island but Rayleigh is left alone while doing the same thing
Rayleighs bounty is still active and I think is less of "leaving him alone" but more "no one has the guts to attack him". Who do you think would be an easier target, Rayleigh or Mihawk.
Rayleigh is too dangerous and is not doing anything to threat the WG, so might as well leave him alone, also the WG already said that they killed all of Roger's pirates, so if they went after him, it would raise awareness to the lie the WG told everyone.
@@Warmaster00 don't think he's more dangerous than mihawk at this point we know that reyliegh is not in his prime and we have a guy who is at least near a yonko level on his own I think at this point if not for the world government wanting to keep the down low on Roger pirates they would have gone after him sooner

To be fair to Mihawk and Buggy, they also aren't a pirate crew. They're a Pirate Alliance. So Buggy being the boss is unexpected in their eyes, but its also an alliance and they assume that Buggy is a criminal mastermind. So if this was so, sure Buggy would be weaker and less dangerous than Mihawk, but he is also making Mihawk and himself more dangerous because of the alliance.

I would really like to hear him talk about the escaped prisoners from level 6 of impeldown. After the war at marineford it was stated during a dialog between Sengoku and a marine that several prisoners escaped level 6 but it was never touched upon again.
Also I am calling it now the existence of amazon lili and the love course that kills their queens is connected to Joyboy.

I believe that although Shanks lost his arm, and thus turning weaker in terms of swordsmanship, I believe that the commitment Shanks did by saving Luffy and the determination he showed us eventually powering up his Haki to extreme levels, it should be like how a blind person's hearing gets sharper to compensate for the lack of vision or something.

Do people forget Nekomamushi added a weapon on his left arm, or even Crocodile? I am sure Shanks would do the same if it actually weakened him, but I don't think it weakened Shanks.
They didn't lose the entire limb, there's no arm to put a hook on for Shanks.
Shanks lost the *entire limb* not just the hand or even at the elbow so the prosthesis would be a lot more complicated.
If only they had a df power that could give them another limb lol
I’m sure he also wouldn’t want to get a prosthetic, since he believes in Luffy who he bet that arm on. Maybe he feels that getting a prosthetic would be like backing out of that bet.
It weakened him……. It’s just that shanks continued to get stronger after losing the arm just not as strong as he would have gotten if he still had both arms . Imagine how much more powerful a two handed sword swing is compared to one handed

I always took it as somewhat of an swordsman code or honor thing.
Even if Shanks is a real challenge with only one arm (maybe he even got stronger since their final duel?) and Mihawk would struggle to beat him,
if Mihawk did so, it wouldn't be a victory he can be proud of because.. you know... his opponent was not as strong as he could have been because he was missing an arm.
Does that make sense?
There is no swordsman's glory in defeating a crippled opponent.

I love the kenpachi comparison, literally makes a swordsman way stronger if they can use two arms. And I think Mihawk doesn't want to fight shanks anymore, because just his swordsmanship or prowess wielding the sword will not be as strong, eventhough in general shanks is probably still strong enough to keep up, just not with swordsmanship alone.

the events surrounding Roger's execution is one of the highest things I want to know about. I want the deets. So many characters were there, how many of them first met each other during that event? or did any of them have any ulterior motives for being there? (like: if Mihawk went looking for Rayleigh and ended up running into Shanks for the first time.)

I'm curious about the fate of cross guild. Will they team up with the strawhats during the final conflict? What I would love is if they do a modified Davy back fight to determine who commands the other, bringing cross guild into the strawhat grand fleet. That would be an insane power up right before the end conflict vs marines

Agree with Tekking, in terms of swordsmanship Mihawk is 100% stronger then Shanks. We just have to see what else Shanks can do. Oda did hint to Shanks having a different power by referring to Shanks saying "But how does he actually fight?" So it will be interesting to see what Oda comes up with
On the flipside, perhaps there's more to swordsmanship than we know. Assuming Shanks has the superior haki, how does Mihawk distinguish himself in swordplay? There must be more to it.

We need a Video on an Unhinged Mihawk. Like if he were to really have a Kenpachi , Unohana moment. Like he is in fight that he enjoys so much, that for a moment he drops the pretenses and poise and shows off just WHAT it means to be WGS. It would be interesting if Shiryu permanently disabled Zoro, (like cutting off his arm while invisible) when Mihawk veiws Zoro as the one that he could pass the torch to, hos expression would be almost as valuable as knowing what the one Piece is.

One part of Mihawk's character that is confusing is when we first met him. He chased Don Kreig's fleet out of the grandline into the east blue and hunted him down till he slaughtered everyone. That doesn't seem very peaceful. Its actually kinda sadistic. He said he did it because he was bored. So this whole idea that he is neutral and just wants to live a quiet life doesn't add up.
It is a thing that has happened to various animals and even animal parts in which in various places in the world, animals like frogs, fish, and whatnot fell from the sky, having been swept up by storms and spat out elsewhere in the world. I once came across a story where animal giblets fell from the sky somewhere in the USA that I forget off the top of my head but yeah.

In terms of strength I don't think Shanks got weaker after he lost an arm, but in terms of sword skills losing an arm would definitely affect that. With two arms you can take more stances and can use more techniques than with one hand.
I don't think the loss of his arm means he's been severely weakened, not at all but I think the point is that the loss of his dominant arm is and will always be a significant loss.
At the end of One Piece I’d like it for Buggy and Mihawk to make a toast with shanks in a table or at his grave either one would be nice.

well there is a problem with your theory about Mihawk searching for Rayleigh after Roger's execution, the Marines have spread that they have captured ALL of the Roger's pirates and executed them. So, unless Mihawk already knew a Roger pirate before, i don't think he had reason to seek them out.

I love how Oda has weaved Mihawk throughout the story. He's done this with many villains - Doflamingo, Blackbeard, Akainu - and it just adds to the worldbuilding and hype so much.

I would love if Mihawk and Crocodile actually help Buggy reach his full potential. He served on the Roger Pirates, fought against Whitebeard's crew at least once, and has escaped the inescapable. Maybe these two, in order to make him a better scape goat, help him build his confidence and his ability, and just help him become the best pirate businessman he can through their actions.

Considering Dracule could be based off Romania's national hero Vlad the Impaler given that in this real world figures backstory that Vlad's brother and dad where killed by local warlords it would be really cool if Oda used this historical fact for Mihawk's backstory have Mihawk's brother and father whom are royals Celestial Dragons or high ranked guards at Castle Pangea killed by Luffy's foster family the Dadan Family which explains Garp's throwaway comment about the Dadan Family having bounties as high as the stars.
