How to make a Wedding Table Garland using rosemary, olive, bay and gum

- Today I'll show you my simple method for creating wedding table garlands of rosemary, olive, bay and gum.
Just recently my friend got married and asked if I could make her table garlands container just rosemary, olive, bay & gum. “No flowers please, just foliage”. I thought great not a problem until she explained she was having 3 long table 10 meters in length, plus she wanted a garland made to go around the door frame where they were to say ‘I do’. Panic immediately set in when I calculated over 40 meters, including around the cake and the easel holding the seating plan.
As you will see, the completed tables looked fantastic and as for the fragrance emitted from the foliage combinations, it was a botanical heady mix of loveliness!
You will need
- Rope (I used ½ rope which I got from the garden shop)
- Twine or jute
- If making meters as I did, you will need buckets and buckets each of Gum, rosemary, olive, and bay.
TIP: the garlands can be made the day before, but must be sprayed with fresh water often and completely covered with moist paper kitchen towels or similar.

I noticed when you said dear Astar, that the lady wanted all candles different, what a beautiful idea that is, well I m more of a perfectionist, where all has to be to a perfection buuut when I saw how beautiful it can look with different dandles, I love that idea. Who would have thought that my style would change, well it wont change I found out that different styles work for me as as well, the perfection and the slight imperfection, Thank you dear Astar for charing :)

I was just wondering where you ordered the greenery to be able to make the table runners?
Hi Suzanne, we have both ecualptyus & olive at www.prestigebotanicals.com. kind regards Astar
What are some tips to keep this green and fresh looking as long as possible? How many days in advance can I make this and it still look fresh? Thanks!
Hi Katherine, you can make this several days in advance. Spray well with water frequently. Place on damp newspaper and top again with paper ➕ store out of sun in a cool location kind regards Astar
@@AstarsPlace Thank you! This was such a greedy video! I'm going to practice this so i get a great looking one for my wedding💜
If I wanted to make something like this, say a week before the wedding, would you recommend that? How long will it stay looking "fresh"?
Hi Sara, the only issue is - fresh doesn't last longer than a few days. However this will depend on the season & time of the season when picked. For instance, Ivy at the start of the growth season has amazing bright greeny lime leaves. I call it spring green. Beautiful, but oh so tender and once picked and placed in water it droops FAST. However as it hardens or gains strengths it will last ages. My suggestion with anything fresh is to do a wee test. Pick, slant cut, remove any foliage that will be below the water level - the leaves/foliage create bacteria and this in turn reduces the life and quality of that being used. If it lasts without drooping dropping or wilting you'll know whether it's going to last the distance of time. I would suggest, if you can, doing the designs a couple of days ahead of the wedding AND continuously missing with fresh water. I so hope that I've been of assistance?
Warm regards Astar
if you have an 8 foot table how much would you get of each garland. I have no clue as to where to begin figuring the out!!!
Hi Julie, when I was questimating, I worked out what foliage I'd be using and then how long each posies or gatherings would be tied to the rope. So, if each gathering is 6" , 2 gatherings per foot is a rough estimate and if you have an 8' table, 8 gathered posies and to drop down the sides that's possibly and extra 2 or 4 each end. Hope this helps. Kind regards Astar
Can I ask if this is real leaves and fake flowers?
EOWWWWWWWWWWW
