"Good evening, Echo."
"ᵍᵒᵒᵈ ᵉᵛᵉⁿᶦⁿᵍ"
João honestly whenever you see Echo you think he sounds like an absolute chad, then you hear that and go “wayment what the fuck” still love the man tho, such badasses.
Real life ninja turtle badass
Mikey, Def Mikey
I love that Echo “echoes” him.
I laughed, but don’t get me wrong I LOVE YOU ECHO. Never change
Words to live by, "One of the bravest men that I ever saw was a fellow on top of a telegraph pole in the midst of a furious fire fight in Tunisia. I stopped and asked what the hell he was doing up there at a time like that. He answered, "Fixing the wire, Sir". I asked, "Isn't that a little unhealthy right about now?" He answered, "Yes Sir, but the Goddamned wire has to be fixed". I asked, "Don't those planes strafing the road bother you?" And he answered, "No, Sir, but you sure as hell do!" Now, there was a real man. A real soldier. There was a man who devoted all he had to his duty, no matter how seemingly insignificant his duty might appear at the time, no matter how great the odds."
I live that part
I'm only 4 minutes in and I am thinking damn, Jocko's going all out on this intro. I've never heard him cuss so much. I think I like it.
"I brought my 6 year old to training exercises to inoculate him to the sound of machine gun fire"
Hardcore.
Powerful shit
A pure unapologetic warrior. A honest brutality that must be respected.
Jocko reading Patton makes me want to run through god damned brick wall
Brian Alleman I had to cut the podcast off last night or I wouldn’t of been able to sleep
Ran through 3 walls already
Here here!
@@desireoverpain its 4.16 am now & i have to be out the door at 9am,im having the same problem cutting this off,America desperately needs a George Patton or Chesty Puller right now .
I still use this as motivation when I’m on my way to a big event.
Jocko. I woke up at 5am today made my bed and crushed my part of a group project for my final class of my senior year of college. One of the best days I have had. Thanks for your podcast
All I can say is wow. This podcast is epic and Jocko being the narrator really pumps you up!!🇺🇸🇺🇸
“Discipline must be so ingrained, that it’s stronger than the want for battle or the fear of death.” Patton
I hope Jonny Kim will get on this pod cast one day. He is a navy seal served in Ramadi under Jocko then graduated from Harvard to become a doctor and now is an astronaut for NASA. One amazing person and cant wait to know more!
Just pretty much repeated what you said lol. Hopefully more people can request this so it can happen
Asian parents' wet dream!!! :) I too would look forward to his story.
He is
Wish granted.
He has been already, here's the link: ua-cam.com/video/yujP3-AxXsI/v-deo.html
Willink 2024- Understands the military, focused with leadership, successful businessman, educated, stoic, understanding, honorable, and truthful when the truth is best.
You have my vote sir.
He will never do it, not because he wouldn't be good, but because he doesn't suffer fools and the people he'd be directly responsible for leading are a PACK of fools...
Up 5 days a week at 4 am. Hit the gym for an hour. Then work a 12 hr. Day on a drill crew. Then come home and help the wife with laundry, kids, dishes etc. all because of seeing you on Rogan. WAKE UP AND GET IT. THE MORE YOU DO THE MORE YOUR CAPABLE OF. Love you guys💪🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥🔥
Shouldnt she have that done by the time you get home?
@@americansteele1174 I'm sure the wife has a job also mate.
Best movie speech of all time. Patton released in 1970. George C. Scott was perfect still to this day one of the greatest performances in movie history.
If they ever make a remake, I think we've found the right guy for the job, obviously Jocko.
The version you saw in the film was censored.
Jocko’s ability to read the text with the precision and emotion he has is dumbfounding
Also he was an English major in college.
He probably memorized this speech as a kid and recited it very often in his career.
I went to broadcasting school, the man is damn gifted in his delivery.
Imagine what his off the cuff speeches during deployment sounded like...
I'd follow this MAN into hell and back.
That intro is so good I had to listen to it twice.
Hey Jocko! I met you at the event you did in Westbury NY. I was second to last in line to get my book signed! Thank you for everything you’ve done for me personally on my journey, for what you’re doing for my generation, and for your previous and ongoing service to our country. The men of my generation in particular need a role model like you! 🇺🇸 🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
General S. Patton is a genius...… All day at work in the back of my head I had the image of Jocko pointing that knife as he's talking casually in the back of my head.... " not all of you will die; only 2% of you will"
I hope Jocko covers a book soon... can’t remember the last time he did. I loved hearing the stories from guys who fought in WW2 or Korea. Lately it’s just been a lot of manuals. I appreciate them but it’s been too long since story time
The Kids Nice by far my favorite episodes are the book, or book+author episodes
The Dick Thompson, and all the other Vietnam SOG episodes are fucking insane, check them out if you haven’t, John Stryker is a good one as well. Men with balls of steel those guys

"we defeated the wrong enemy" General Patton - 1945
dies in a car crash 10 days later after making this statement.
spf_fishing if I remember correctly, he survived the car crash. Though paralyzed but still made it through. But then he mysteriously died in the hospital a few days later and no autopsy
I remember reading his aids direction about who happened to be there with Patton and he said it was no accident. This was a death bed confession. They were waiting on him strategically placed to block him in then ram his car.
Yes...it wasn’t a defense of Nazism, it was an acknowledgement that the Soviets were ultimately the more significant American enemy which of course they were.
@Please no Invade uh patton got sent home after wanting to attack berlin when the soviets got it .-.
Love that you covered this. I’m planning on going to visit Patton’s grave and shoot some content one of these days.
If they ever remake the movie Patton, Jocko has my vote for the lead role. Oratory should always be given with this level of commitment.
This speech is addictive. I listen to this speech several times a day, every day. And I’m British. My just died and and a load of other hell that can happen in life was thrown my way.
This version knocks the the hell out of George C Scott’s version in the film.
07:28 “there was a real man”
Jocko is awesome reading Patton's speech...
I work as a nurse in a hospital. I need to reread this list. All of it can be adapted to and extremely beneficial for our health care industry. Thank you Jocko
11:00 the enemies balls.. That was powerful!!!
Absolutely love Jocko’s passion for delivering these speeches
keep watching this over and over. Truly amazing. Gets my blood pumping.
It's time for Jocko to start his acting career. That was the best reading I've ever heard.
33:30 the gap between digital and physical might be partly due to how humans remember based off of locations; eg. memory palaces.
That was a magnificent read, sir. Patton was such an incredible character. No writer in the history of man could have come up with a better military character. So pure, so unapologetic, with such genuine unabashed bravado that ONLY he could ever pull off, because that kind of spirit was his ENTIRE essence. He was born to lead men into combat.
It surprised me that listening to this Patton speech made me feel all patriotic! I am even more proud my father served in the Army in Europe in WWII.
An intro like that before getting after it for your specific purpose. 💣
Echo how about this for an excerpt?
Patton was right...
This was my favorite Podcast you've done. I'm going to go back and listen to the one on Gen. Patton.
Also, your Coast to Coast Interview was exceptional !
New subscriber. Glad God makes people like you. Very inspiring. You are An American Badass. God Bless Warrior. ☠️
Patton is the type of general I’d die for.
You wouldn't have to worry about dying. With a general like him you'd likely win.
When he started talking about movie soldier. Had me busting up laughing. Love how much he’s into it. Gotta check it out
"You don't have To Be Dead To Be A Hero..."
George Patton
Jocko talking about the movie Soldier was priceless. I laughed so hard! I had to watch that part 3 or 4 times hahahahah
You read with so much passion.
12 year combat medic veteran and conservative. Voted Trump, now supporting Andrew Yang. Only Democrat with positive net favorability and a large independent and republican following. It would be great to have him on your podcast and talk future of national defense, cyber warfare, and AI race with other countries. He's done Joe Rogan and Ben Shapiro and pulled 2 - 5 million views on each. I think you two would have a great conversation.
Jocko should narrate everything. No seriously. I don’t even care if it’s Peppa pig the world needs this intensity more than ever
I love the laconic time stamping in the description. It's basically always something like 00:00 intro guest. 2:05:00 closing words.
That speech is the best damn thing iv heard in my LIFE
Listened to the first 11 min on repeat at the gym. 🇺🇸🔥
Almost fell off my chair.....
"If your not dead or severely injured you have not done your duty....... "
"Watching Soldier tonight......."
Get some !
Thank you gentlemen !
The shovel sharpening likely goes back to Patton's WWI experience. Spades were commonly used in hand to hand fighting.
I showed the opening speech to my little brother, he's now on his way to Iran.
I played this for my son. Now he's my father.
W 😂😂
My goodness Jocko, you have serious acting talent!!! Well done.
Thats why he said he should be in a remake of the movie Soldier
what a incredible intro
Please, someone makes a remake of that movie with Jocko in it. I'd love to watch that!
Aitor Ruiz or a remake of soldier
Boom back on the program.
Beautiful! Too bad we don’t have him now or 20 years ago. But then again we have you Jocko and Task Unit Bruiser!
Absolutely sharpen the shovels! That was what I got my wife for the first Valentine's Day we were together: an E-tool which I then took a silver Sharpie and drew little hearts all over the blade and wrote "I dig you." Be ready and be FEROCIOUS. Also, you know what's even better than sharpening your knife? Making your own from a solid piece of steel and THEN sharpening it. Seeing that edge form from a straight flat line into a scalpel sharp tool in the size and shape that your mind wills it to be is like you said zen like and soul cleansing, and when you're creating one you breathe life into it, making a living spirit frozen into steel.
All these years I didn't realize the George c Scott version was shortened, full version is outstanding. Imagine Patton being in charge of the Afghan and Iraq theaters, would have loved to see his reaction when some mentioned rules of engagement.
Dam jocko that shit was powerful. It sure stuck with me and got me amped up
That speech got me chubbed up for sure.
I'd love to buy one of those sand table kits :)
I listened to this last night at work & had to listen to General Patton's speech again as I found it quiet inspiring in its raw way, I'm British & we to are cut from the same cloth as we have been fighting for 1000 years, what he says is right, mankind is naturally violent, it's who we are, the West tend to be more hand to hand combat (the viking in us) as the east tend to throw spears & arrows (shout & dance to get them self's ready to fight) as the west is always ready without to much encouragement, it sounds mad but it's in our dna. It's probably why it took so long and using all the west might to beat the Germans as they to are a hand to hand fighting nation, the vikings blood line runs deep
That intro read was fucking epic lol just finished leadership strategy and tactics today! Get some!
Ole guts and glory
Of course we watch it.
How else are we going to see how JJAAAAACCCKKEEDDD Echo is looking
Can't imagine Jocko binging on movies :D:D
Jocko for President!!!
Jocko and Echo, Can we get a stand alone clip/video of Jocko reading the speech??? Please and Thanks.
Please make the yellow Jocko magnet. And the sucrets box. Standing by to get some!
It's a point of honor & hallmark of excellence for front of house waitstaff to accurately receive & relay orders via memorization.
Altoid tins are the new Sucrets box.
My 13 yr old son, Whisky Tango Ryan, took extreme ownership this morning. In the kitchen. Six am. Unprompted.
You've been on my morning power rotation maybe a month now?
Good stuff.
I wonder If Jocko will be doing any shows in Canada. Would be GOOD.
I LOVE THIS SPEECH ! And AMERICA !
Bring my kid to training to get him "inoculated to loud noises and machine gun fire"
Says it so casually as if everyone does the same thing and can relate.
Interesting discussion regarding Physical-vs-Electronic comprehension tendencies and observations. Would love to see how it differs in those that accept and embrace their hard wired inherent animal instincts vs those that try to suppress them.
I have a couple of General Patton books, and I love him as a General! His raw and profane language? Not so much. But then, who am I to criticize a man both brilliant and flawed enough to be human while a supremely effective military man?
I like Jockos version better than the movie dialogue. 👍🏻
LOL... I just watched "Soldier" the other day.
War is an old man's game using young man's lives.
Yeah braddah Echo. Aloha from Hanalei..🤙🏽🤙🏽
I love you jocko you’re the man I strive to be
oh why dont you marry it then
lee shihad because it would beat my ass
😂

Cool camera angle
1:11:11 100% “Soldier” starring Jocko Wilink would be so awesome
Jocko and Echo, much respect to your podcast. Any way you could swing getting Jonny Kim on here? SEAL/Medical Doctor/Astronaught would make for an interesting guest...
Jocko, I'd like to see you get into Dick Winters' readings and pontificate on those.. I think he is also a great example of small unit leadership moving up to battalion level movements and leadership.
Thoughts?
Fear & discipline
“skilled through alternative routes”
GOOD
Does anyone else get stoned and watch Jocko and Echo.
your allowed
No factor
1:39:30 "I didn't even grow up"
Then, in a surprising turn of events, Dr. Jordan Peterson burst into the room. "Grow the hell up, man, and clean your room."
Of course, we all know that Jocko's room is spotless. That's why he can give all of us dragon-slaying training.
Fear is not natural. Fear is acquired and learned.
Good god damn! I've never heard Jocko swear so fucking much. That speech stirs the good shit right up to do anything in your life like it's war. Twist their fucking balls!
I call things like your magnet, a "memory momento".
Look up the KEY AND PEELE sketch where they misinterpret the texts and Keegan meeting at the bar with a spiked bat
My understanding is Patton used Farm Boys to drive his tanks. Back then when a tractor or plow broke down in the middle of a field, they were on their own to figure out out to fix it. Which makes them perfect for tank crews. Tank breaks down in the middle of nowhere France, they had the mechanical skills and farm ingenuity to fix it on the fly.
Not sure if this is true or not. Can anyone confirm?
"Compared to war all other forms of human endeavor shrink to insignificance" --- Gen Patton.
Semper Fidelis
What is the name of the book Jocko reading? Thank you
I think his is the most swearing I've heard jocko do in any podcast and I'm only 5 min into it lol
It's not his words, it's Patton's speech/words.
@@karlchilders5420 thanks tips, without you telling me that I would have never have known 👍🙄
@@almightycripple9607 It's not obvious to others dude, that's why I said it. Sometimes, stating the obvious has instructional value for those folks that (a) are intellectually lazy or (b) can't do much more than fog a mirror...
@@karlchilders5420 I'm pretty sure as long as they listen to the whole speech and hear jocko say that was the speech Patton gave, I think and hope they'd realize it wasn't a jocko speech if it's not obvious then they need to get their ears checked.
I trained restaurant personal for many years...those people have good memories but they screw up special orders like you wouldn't believe, so I trained my staff to always take notes...
I swear I can see the colors of the American flag glow brighter hearing these words.
