“I went and traveled to South America for a couple of months after graduation but that gets old very quick... you don’t really find yourself when you’re somewhere else, it sort of just amplifies what you already know”... damn if that isn’t true idk what is. People put too much emphasis on traveling after college or when you’re in your 20’s to “find yourself”, when in reality all you’re doing is delaying what you should and need to be doing. I love traveling but the whole idea of going somewhere abroad in order to find out your true purpose in life is extremely overrated imo. Most of the times I’ve traveled, I’ve come back feeling more depressed and lost than when I left lol
I'm with you! Sometimes I feel like people travel under the guise of self-discovery when they're really just looking for an escape. I haven't travelled as much as I want to, but that's mostly because I've been home building the life I want to live, and my purpose for travelling is more about learning about other cultures than it is about learning about myself. Still, sometimes some people need that distance to really see things clearly, so I guess if it works for them, it works for them!
