    I remember watching this video over a year ago. And man…to look at how much stuff I’ve memorized after being inspired by this video: I memorized the capitals of all the countries in the world, the location of every country in the world, the entire periodic table (in order as well), the US presidents in chronological order, Morse code, the Greek alphabet, Pi to 200 digits, all the bones in the body, and the names of all 88 constellations. Thank you bro

    Two things to note:
    1) Memorization isn’t always about learning “Cool” facts, or being a “walking encyclopedia”. It’s about putting in the necessary time and effort to improve your decision making skills.
    2) Long term memorization will pay dividends in many practical areas of your life like your career and your relationships. In other words, impressing your friends or acing your test shouldn’t be your only reason to memorize, because the motivation from those things fades very quickly.
    Great video though on encouraging people to try though, Ron! Let’s just hope people are concerned about the practical uses of memorization as well!

    What a great video and a great idea as well. I teach some of your concepts to my students in spite of the fact that much of modern schooling ignores the need for memorization, which used to be an essential part of school. That being said, I did want to point out an oversight. In your video, you promise links to a book and some other things, but there are no such links in the comments. You may want to correct that.

    • @Brainathlete
      @Brainathlete  4 роки тому +2

      To understand the world around you is one reason. You don’t gain understanding by looking it up if you forget it 10 seconds later.
      Another reason would be to learn a memory system you can apply to things you want
      Another reason would be no one wants to listen to a speech someone is reading
      Another reason would be learning another language makes travel easier
      A doctor can’t look up the bones of human body when operating
      Another reason is brain exercise
      Heck I’m going to make a 50 reasons to memorize video haha
