  • Cameron and I changed the fabric on this A&E 8500 manual awning, but we used the same technique that we have been using to change fabrics on electric awnings. We have determined that we both like this technique for any fabric change.

    I just changed mine with the help of the wife. I attached a tarp clamp and about 10' of Paracord to the top edge of the awning which made it a lot easier for the wife to pull it along the roof channel while I fed it into the end of the channel.

    Ya no! lol I'm still not messing with that awning spring with only one complete hand, plus that hand now has 15 broken tendons from Stiff Person Disease. I've never seen anyone unwind the awning spring so fast. Probably why you wound 10 times going back together instead of the 7 done to unwind.

    Great Job ! Would you believe that I do those , up by myself? Just not that fast. Add about 3 turns and you don’t need to roll it up.

      Same way we been doing them when school is going on. Evenings and Saturday.

    Great Job!. This is basically the same method I have always used to change out a manual awning. The only difference I do is that I fully extend the awning before pinning it. This way once I have the new awning in place and have put the winds back on the one end, I just have to release the lock and let the awning roll itself back up so that I don't have to. Also I am not on a latter trying to fit the awning brackets back into the arms.

    • @hillbillyrv
      @hillbillyrv  2 роки тому +1

      That sounds easier. We will try that next time.

    • @billking1558
      @billking1558 2 роки тому +2

      @@hillbillyrvIf you try it, just remember that because the awning is fully extended you will need to put more winds on the spring. I generally find that you need to add 14 winds.

    Hoping your procedure goes well! You will feel years younger afterward and be pushing Cameron aside so you get to do more afterward!
    Best wishes, Kevin

      @@hillbillyrv Happy to hear that. During my first cath lab experience, they put a stent into a 99% blockage and when they pulled out, my heart stopped. As I was half awake, I can assure you 100% that when they shock you, IT HURTS!
      Be well and enjoy life! Kevin
