Amazing this video popped up on UA-cam Thursday 10/24/24 from 2 years ago. Tomorrow 10/24/25, I have a service call with the same symptoms. I appreciate all the time you take to help us with your videos.
This video just saved me massive hours of running around with my fluke… for the life of me I couldn’t get the disconnect to disconnect or connect. Bad shore power cord, killed batteries.. everything opened and stayed open… errrr.
I am trying to fix the link for the merch that is in the description of my videos. You have to copy and paste this link in your address bar, not search engine. Put it in the address bar at the top of your computer screen. ://hillbilly-rv.creator-spring.com/listing/new-hillbilly-rv
Looks like to me the battery wiring was not right from the beginning. It was only using the front two batteries as power. Thanks Don. Ps you should be getting a postcard soon. Thanks again
I went back and looked at the pic I took before we started. I think it is wired right. I am being serious. If you have a minute sometime, draw a diagram of how you think they should be wired and email it to me. hillbillyrvwv@gmail.com
I just ordered a new battery disconnect switch. However this video explains why sometimes it seems to work and sometimes not. Not n batteries are dead. Wonder if I can cancel my order. I
Right on you guys I’m thinking the batteries were overcharged maybe when I park my trailer for the winter I disconnect my batteries and run a auto detect battery charger and maintainer I’m not sure if the converter will shut of when the batteries are charged so I just don’t trust it 👍
Question, on a motorhome when you are driving it, can you run the a/c or the water heater on electric ? If you can what is the power source since you are not plug in because your driving ?
@@hillbillyrv my RV lost all power do the driving section no headlights no gauges turn key and nothing like I don't even have a battery in it I messed around and found ignition proof coach solenoid and believed it to be bad I took off the wires running from it to the starter in the other wires that went to it and ran it all to the positive and everything came back on and work so can I bypass that solenoid and just run the wires to the battery to get it to drive because from what I've read and seen so far the ignition proof coach solenoid is mainly for the house batteries which I currently have none in it and won't have any in it for a while so could I bypass that by running the wires do the positive terminal like I did to get everything to come on so that I can start it up and drive it
I went out yesterday the positive terminal runs from the battery to this ignition proof coach selonoid and off the bottom another terminal that runs to the starter and a few other small wires going to it...I took all the wires and put them straight to the positive terminal and all power came back

Big brother is watching and listening.
Great job of making a diagram and taking pics. 👏

Glad the video helped.
Great Video guys. good info. Take Care
Thanks buddy.
It's OK Cameron a little spark won't hurt a thing 😆
Oh by the way I want one of them shirts 👕

Nice job Cameron !! You’re now an influencer 👍.

Yes, it has to have good battery voltage to work.
To avoid any sparks, the right way is to connect the positive + terminal first, and then the negative - .To disconnect ,- first and + last.
Gotcha

You are right, but not everybody does that.
@@hillbillyrv thanks Kenny I did that one year and the batteries were pretty dry so now I check them a few times a year
Time for a lithium upgrade. Those lead acids are heavy.
I installed what he bought.

Generator, if the motorhome is equipped with one.
Again, Cameron didn't work up a sweat.....hahaha!
😆
Easy peasy.
if the house batteries are improperly installed, can that blow up the solenoid?
I wouldn’t think so, but it is NEVER good to hook batteries up backwards.
so with it plugged in all the time in storage, what protects the batteries from over charging and boiling out?
Nothing. Some people find it easier to hire someone to replace the batteries every couple of years, rather than maintain the batteries.
What of the batter disconnect is clicking when pushed? My daughter accidentally pushed disconnect button and it won't come back on
I don't know. You would have to get somebody locally to diagnose that.
Ok thanks
I need help with my RV and have some questions if you don't mind
I can try, but it is really hard to fix stuff remotely.

@@ancientrelicboy8426 You can bypass a solenoid. It is just an on-off switch. If you don't want or need to turn it off, bypass it.

check inverter charger
Ok
Name the video, dead battery replacement. :)
That would work too.
oops Tomorrow 10/15/24
