I got a little cutting board with a little spikey area for grating wasabi. My Japanese friend gave it to me. Your garlic grate comes close to it!

Thanks, no it doesn't have any minty spice, it's more of an instant heat on the tongue.
I feel sorry for horse radish, being called "fake wasabi" :( lol I say someone claim that the professional chefs would grate from the top, appearantly that's the best part of the stem (I wouldn't know, but maybe something for you to try and see)
