With the NEW Hyprland Starter script it's easy to install a Hyprland base installation on Manjaro Linux.

The script will execute the following command and will copy related configuration files into the ~/.config/ folder.
sudo pacman -S hyprland waybar rofi wofi kitty alacritty dunst dolphin xdg-desktop-portal-hyprland qt5-wayland qt6-wayland hyprpaper chromium ttf-font-awesome
With this installation, you will get a perfect Hyprland starting point for your experiments.

Hey please could you please make a video on how to install cava visualizer on hyprland and how to config to work with pipewire sound. I been dealing with headache because of that 😢
Everyone says you can Install with command
sudo pacman -Sy cava
But it says target not found including on git hub
Please try yay -S cava

with virtualbox you have to enable 3d acceleration . after that it worked for me. good job dude !

one questions tough no matter what i seem to do i cant change the hyprpaper.conf file
to load a different wallpaper
Thanks. You need to run the reload-wallpaper.sh script in the same folder.

Just took a second look at these updates. The rofi wallpaper select on right click, the new transition effects, the title changing upon which window is active are all things I’m looking forward to when get your update. Also I noticed that htop doesn’t apply the pywall color unless you change wallpaper while htop is still open happened to you also, I thought I had broken something. Must just be a dependency somewhere or something that has changed. Anyways, I’ll be checking back for the videos thanks.

almost perfect desktop, what I don't like it the top bar fixed in place. I think ideally it would have to be an overlay so it looks like the clock and other elements are just a part of the image in the backgrop.

I have arch Linux with kde plasma both x11 and Wayland sessions, can i add hyprland? It will not break my system?
I can never promise that something is going wrong. But the installation should work. Start with a basic installation of Hyprland. You can easily remove it again if required.
Would you consider an installment of videos on configuring hyperland offline? Because I'm in an environment with no internet。Thanks Stephan!

I noticed that you left out FULLSCREEN in the keybindings? Did you intend that? No reason your previous scripts won't work with Manjaro? I appreciate all the custom work you did on that for Hyprland
Good point. Will add this to the starter in V 1.1. The dotfiles from previuvideos works also on Manjaro. Have fun with it.
@@mylinuxforwork I did haha I put it in a V'M to try it out. I use Proxmox not Virt-Manager and using VirtGL as the display adapter works really well. You need virt-viewer of course. The performance is pretty good. I am on GbE so 2.5GbE or 10GbE would likely be better.

Question maybe you had an answer my laptop i run hyprland and swaylock-effects. When i unlock my pc the screen will blank like its asleep then come back on will repeat until reboot

I’m using this on an old 4540s probook with two external monitors attached in addition to the laptop screen. I haven’t figured out how to set up the hyprland.conf display to all 3 monitors dimensions and positions. That being said, I’ve been just keeping the lid closed after rebooting until the login screen appears. If I don’t do that, my external monitors will be set to same dimensions as my laptops screen. Are you running your laptop with monitors connected?
Is it possible to log into the machine remotely? For example, login to work pc from laptop at home.

Is there a way to get back to the lock screen from hyprland session to switch back to Gnome?

Also want to ask you a thing,if it doesn't bother you: what do you think about installing aur packages on Manjaro and I mean hyprland setting assumes installing lots of stuff. If there a danger that gnome will have bugs caused by having hypr, or just versions conflict based on point that pamac uses older packages that we can actually install from aur to set up hypr/ for another purposes

Yes. Should work. I have tested it on Manjaro, EndeavourOS, Arco Linux and Arch Linux. Give it a try. And please comment if it’s working or not.

Thank you. Yes, I thought about making a video to install Hyprland on Ubuntu. But Ubuntu is not officially supported. With compiling the packages it should work. Let’s see.

It doesn't show on my login screen either, I can only switch between gnome and gnome classic.

Hi! How do I enable title bar with minimize, maximize and close button on hyprland?
Hi. Hyprland is a tiling window manager and doesn’t have typical title bars. You can put apps from tiling into floating mode that is similar to windows but without a title bar.
I don't believe this is possible with Hyprland. It's not a 'traditional' Window mgr like GNOME or KDE. As a tiling window manager there's no taskbar or other dock to minimize something to. You have workspaces to launch, or move applications to. Launching multiple applications in the same workspace will cause them to be tiled by default. You can fullscreen any application in a workspace, and even swap between them in the same workspace. You can change to another workspace, or move an app there. Once you learn the basic keyboard shortcuts (which you can change on the fly) it will become very easy to use and less overhead. To close a window you use the kill shortcut. i use SUPER+K for that. FULLSCREEN is SUPER+F etc. It's more closely related to OPENBOX or DWM.
@@donaldwilliams6821 Thank you for the replay. Then how can minimize a window? As an instant, When using virtualbox with firefox, cannot see full screen and want to scroll to view full screen on virtualbox. So how I handle this situation?
@@aronlinesl With the app selected that you want fullscreen use the fullscreen key combo ( SUPER + F) is his default. That application virtualbox should go fullscreen. If I am understanding what you are trying to do. You can toggle apps in the same workspace using SUPER + (right or left arrow) Try starting two applications on the same workspace and try it. There are some other videos on how to navigate Hyprland as well.

You can try sudo pacman -Rns hyprland
Where's the part of your script that adds hyprland to the display manager?
If a display manager is installed, Hyprland should be added automatically.

when i logout and select hyprland session and when i type my admin password its not login to hyprland session but its login to plasma, any clue whats happening ?
That sounds crazy. Please open a tty with CMD+ALT+F3 and start Hyprland with the command Hyprland and check the error messages.

Username und Passwort kommen nur wenn man einen Typo in der Url hat. Versuch es nochmal mit gitlab.com/stephan-raabe/hyprland-starter.git Wichtig is das .git am Ende. Das Repository ist public.
why no one use software gui store
isnt it much easier than terminal
You can add your software gui store whenever you like and open it with rofi or create your own waybar theme by copying one of mine and select yours with thevwaybar theme switcher.
