Hello, You are correct its a very different experience between a full blown DE and a WM. It does take time to get used to and honestly its not for everyone. I appreciate your comment and thank you for watching!
I prefer to have UI icon with keybinds shown, often what happens is there is keybinds for os then for apps i use , there are lot of keybinds on both sides then there are commands , so it's quit a lot of learning curve but always end up efficient if you remember all or have a manual to go back in case you forgot but it's hindrance if we keep forgetting or using it while doing critical stuff and lagging behind cuz we spent time catching up to the binds then whatever we were using the system to solve the problem we had in first place😅
My mind was blown when I figured out WMs existed. Like… for me they’re the best thing in the universe. To each their own though, it could be because I really love change, so anything different would feel better than what I have.

Great video, sorry if I messed with the algorithm by watching in 1.5x speed, I'm in a bit of a time crunch. Just wanted to advise that the boot menu isn't always accessed by holding esc key when powering on. This point could cause some confusion for some users without some kind of disclaimer in the video or someplace easily visible to them. I for one have 3 machines, my main uses esc, my secondary uses f12 and my third (which i barely use) takes f2 for the boot menu.

Grub was good with MBR partitioned disks by overriding boot record with its own when you needed a dual-boot setup with another OS. Now it's a useless layer between UEFI boot and GPT partitioned disks. Systemd-boot is more flexible, it creates a new EFI partition and doesn't touch anything already installed by another OS.

Could that be something you explain how to do in a part two?
Hello thank you for the comment, I appreciate it very much :) I am working on a "V2" for this setup with a bit more functionality and a graphical login manager which would make this whole thing a bit more complete. if you dont want to wait you can look into sddm specifically the sddm-git version on Arch you will need to do the following: yay -S sddm-git sudo systemctl enable sddm On your next login you would have a graphical login screen but please note that you may have tty switching login issues and possible logout issues so you may have to hit the ctrl+alt+F2 through F6 keys to get out of black screen. on my V2 version I hope to solve most of these issues with the install script. Thank you again and thanks for watching!

would this script be suitable to test out alongside a current install of arch? Im running gnome and would like to try out Hyprland...if I run this script, will that cause any issues? Wonderful tutorial btw🤗🤗
Hello and thank you for the comment. This V1 script would most likely be the safest to run along side a gnome install as it doesn't force instal SDDM, the only issue with V1 is that it doesn't have any Nvidia support so Hyprland may fail to launch if you are using an Nvidia GPU. The other versions of my script do a bit more an do have Nvidia support but they do force SDDM which could conflict with your current login manager if you are on GDM which most gnome installs are. Hope that provides some info to help you make a decision :) Thank you for the kind words and thanks for watching!
Great job on this one. But i have a question for you all...maybe someone can help me. I instaled hyprland on my desktop and for some reason when i first launch hyprland i don't see my bluetooth option in the top bar....Do i need to download anything extra? Thanks

Hello, yes its possible but make sure to backup your system just in case :) after you install SDDM should have an entry for hyprland. If that entry doesnt launch hyprland then you may need to install sddm-git to replace the standard sddm

The zephyrus g14 is no where near a mini version of the strix g15, they're from entirely different lines with entirely different design philosophies, one being normal bulky gaming laptop and the other being a thin and light gaming laptop.

Thank you for the question. Lutris is very nice but it all depends on the script that was used to package the game and how well maintained it is. Most of the games I play on linux are through Steam and proton which works fantastic. I tried the same games through lutris and I was having similar issues to what you described, when I examined the lutris launch script I noticed it was outdated and havent been maintained in a while.

Love this, thank you very much. I have managed a couple of changes to the waybar; changing the clock to my personal preference wasn't too difficult however I am stumped on the weather python script. Being in UK we have for many years used Centigrade, but the weather shows Fahrenheit, which hardly anyone except USA uses anymore. Similarly the CPU temperature, which I actually managed to change to Centigrade.
Very impresive video, pretty well made and explained , easy to follow, but i would really like to see a full step by step video on how to get all these configurations done.
I just loaded this on one of my primary systems. So it will be used daily! Thank you so much. I decided to try BTRFS with compression. I set compression during the install process, but it didn't update the /etc/fstab I will do it manually but you might want to check the build script.

I see that the recommended way to start hyprland is to start it just as you mention at the end of the video. I would really like to have hyprland start automatically with a login/sccm screen. Could that be something you explain how to do in a part two?
Hello thank you for the comment, I appreciate it very much :) I am working on a "V2" for this setup with a bit more functionality and a graphical login manager which would make this whole thing a bit more complete. if you dont want to wait you can look into sddm specifically the sddm-git version on Arch you will need to do the following:
yay -S sddm-git
sudo systemctl enable sddm
On your next login you would have a graphical login screen but please note that you may have tty switching login issues and possible logout issues so you may have to hit the ctrl+alt+F2 through F6 keys to get out of black screen. on my V2 version I hope to solve most of these issues with the install script. Thank you again and thanks for watching!

Most of the games I play on linux are through Steam and proton which works fantastic. I tried the same games through lutris and I was having similar issues to what you described, when I examined the lutris launch script I noticed it was outdated and havent been maintained in a while.
