The Huawei P9 was the first smartphone to truly pioneer the dual camera setup on smartphones and now two years later, we have the P20 Pro bringing us the world’s first triple camera system. However, simply having more cameras doesn't make a smartphone better at its camera game. Like the P9, the implementation and optimization is what counts. The P20 Pro is the next big thing in mobile photography. Man, the low light shots specially with night mode on was simply breathtaking! Had Huawei managed to put a better front camera and video stabilization this would have been the perfect camera smartphone

Your photography and cinamatography is actually mind blowing! Everyone says MKBHD has the best cinematography but nope! The only thing is ask is to make things as close as full screen as possible. I have to squint in order to see some details in images.... Etc.

If you want the best image quality in general you'll want to get a Google pixel 2. If you want the most versatile shooting tool on a smartphone with good image quality you'll want the p20 pro. The quality can be improved if Huawei release a software update improving image processing. Really hope they do. As I own both I thought this comment could help somebody thinking of getting one or the other.

At first P20 PRO was my choice for best camera in a Smartphone, but after seeing camera reviews, Saw that my expectations were seems to be much higher than it should be, but then saw your video and it changed everything !💜!

I must say that you guys make the best content when it comes to phone reviews! Unbelievable cinematography. Just one question, is it possible to check out the full size camera samples somewhere? Because in the video, it appears a bit smaller. I get it that for a side by side comparison, you need to fit everything in one frame. But it would have been great if you can share some of the full size photos!

As for the samples, we're trying to find a way where we can host all the files in their full resolution for a long time. We don't want it to go away in a month or so nor do we want to resize them. But the issue is each camera review has so many images and videos attached that it becomes tough to host them all online. For now, you can probably follow revatlas on other social media platforms where some images at least can be previewed better

Nice review but for sure you were using a gimbal while recording the 4k video as I have the p20 pro phone with latest firmware update and it doesn't have OIS neither EIS while recording a 4k video so I think the info you have given in the review is misleading when it comes to video recording . can u share how does it perform when there is person as a subject in night mode? does it capture with same sharpness, clear and noise free as it captures the cityscape or is there ghosting effect as it takes several photos and combines together. thanks.

OP6 camera is far form best. That much I can tell. They haven't sent us a review unit. Hence why no videos so far. Trying to see if any friends or family gets it then we'll borrow and review. But what I've tried at the event, it isn't that much better than the 5T which itself was decent only

Haha thanks. Still not ideal for samples and worst part is no end screen credits on 21:9 videos. But in this case since we had the cashify snippet, we couldn't add one anyway. So it worked well.

The dual camera setup has been out way before Huawei made it, with the HTC One M8 (for bokeh information, otherwise there were some 3D capable phones earlier with 3D capable cameras).
This phone is good as long as you don't use the full 40MP resolution and more importantly, when AI is off. It just destroys the picture according to what it recognizes in my opinion. Night Mode is good too, but there's not a lot of details in these shots.
Moreover, what Huawei calls "AI" is just scene recognition (and the modification it applies to the picture depending on what it recognizes), something that has been out since 2013 with the Xperia Z form Sony.
The Huawei P9 was the first smartphone to truly pioneer the dual camera setup on smartphones.
I didn't say it's the first. I said it's the first to use it well. There were phones even before the One M8 such as the LG Optimus 3D and even HTC Evo 3D. But they all weren't really giant leaps in terms of photographical abilities. AI does tend to butcher certain scenes I agree but I've found it helpful in several situations as well.
I was just referring to the fact that Huawei in general does not create new things, it just takes what has been made before and changes some things about it as the dual camera setup, the way it uses the big pixel count, the scene recognition feature, etc.
The One M8 was ahead of its time though, a lot of phones use the same layout to produce their bokeh/portrait shots.
