Man I wish we had more single track out here in Maine! Side note I LOVE my 250xc as well. Though I don't have the budget for such a fresh new one I got a killer deal on it. 2011 with real low hours and all the goodies where it matter. Love the content man. You were honestly the inspiration that got me into riding KTM and not only that but riding more trail oriented stuff. I hardly ever ride track anymore.
I had a 250 xc-w and put a 300 sx kit on it. With this kit, you have it all. It'll lug down to nothing, but scream on top at will. A single track dream machine. By far the finest bike I have owned. Never ever left me walking. I miss her. It was truly a beautiful relationship.🥰
I have been saying the same thing for the last 13 years about how great the KTM 250XC's are. Now I hear it said more and more. I've done desert and GP races, motocross, and lots of trail riding, and this KTM can handle it all really well. I'm on my 3rd one, a 2019 (I wanted the last of the carb version). I put over 350 hours on my 2010, and loved every hour of it. To me, being 65 years young, I love how easy it is to ride the 250XC, with the smooth, strong power and torque, especially on highly technical trails. I tried the KTM 300 conversion kit several years ago (cylinder, etc) but quickly went back to 250 cc (feels lighter and more nimble, and has a wider powerband that I like). The 250 has more than enough power and torque for my weight (165 lbs without gear). I installed the MXTech Lucky fork spring conversion kit recently, and now the bike feels more planted, and I have gained speed and confidence on tricky downhills, rocky creek beds, etc.
Would really like to hear your review of the spring conversion kit. Have had a 2020 revalved twice and although much better, still not there... initial hit is perfect, but continous rocks it deflects too much. Not sure if it's the inherent stiction, but it just doesn't have that planted feel like a spring fork so you have to slow down a bit (anoying). The new xact 6500 kit is for the newer 21 on bikes, so was looking at the lucky option since I don't want to switch the lugs. As for the 250... agree with you guys on the versatility. And if you need a 300... just throw a 12 on up front and it will do just fine on the questionable if you can make it vert with rowdy stuff along the way.
@@Brian-xplor278 For me the MX Tech Lucky conversion kit has been a big improvement over stock. The stock KTM air forks are pretty good but seem to ramp up too quickly in the stroke, causing deflection and also less front end traction in turns. The Lucky system feels more linear through the stroke, making for a more planted and stable feel. I had the valving set up by MX Tech, but you can also buy the kit from Slaven's already set up with his preferred settings. A side benefit is no more checking fork air pressure, and no fluctuation in pressure from temperature changes and/or during a long ride.
Hey Kyle, you crack me up. I've watched a ton of your vids where you're test riding, reviewing and talking about other bikes. (All great information, by the way) There's just lots of great bikes out there. HOWEVER, it seems you always come back to the KTM 250's and you're totally stoked about it too! I was four stroke Honda born and raised......... until I rode a KTM 300 XC. I've never looked back. I NEVER would have believed there could be that much difference between dirt bikes, and it a 2011, I can't imagine what the new ones ride like. Thanks for what you do. See you out there.
I have a 2020 KTM 250 XC TPI with the following mods : Silber Turbos head and ECU remap, Coppersmith Hybrid AER fork/single spring mod, Race Tech shock revalve, Tokyo OffRoad ECU tray and CCPS brass fitting. Bike had multiple CCPS issues after 125 hrs that now seem cured with Tokyo OffRoad parts. Now at 225 hrs. Silber mods made more power with better mapping. Coppersmith Hybrid AER fork is unbelievably plush and versatile. Have ridden back to back with both carb and TPI 300s and my 250 runs best. Just cannot imagine how any bike could pull cleaner from bottom to top or be able to switch from slow cross root enduro to fast XC or jumpy moto so well.
I'm glad to see you got your tpi bike all figured out. I gave up on my 22 after it literally spent more time in the dealership during the 9 months I owned it then in my possession. It only ran properly for 17 hours, Then it started displaying bad CCP symptoms. Everything was checked, double checked, replaced, inspected again and still the bike ran horribly. Out of pocket a small fortune, eventually the dealers started telling me this is how all tpi bikes run, but I know that's not the case, the bike ran perfectly before this happened all of a sudden. When I had a trade in evaluation done at the same 2 dealers, a significant value deduction was due to how poorly the bike was running.. KTM brands needs to get their crap together at the dealers. I see KTM, gas gas and husky as criminals at this point. I never would have bought an $11000 otd 150 CC dirt bike if I knew I was going to have to change out the computer, ccp sensor, 3 40.00 plugs and pay for custom tuning after 17hrs of use just to keep it running half assed. Imo, it was light and fun while it lasted. But ultimately the made in china parts used in the ktm brands do what made in china parts do best.
@@Dat_Sun Wow, that sounds horrible. Sorry you had such a lousy experience. I do agree that the TPI system is not entirely figured out. I have the 2021 250xc. No failures at all after 118 hours. The shock bottomed and would kick. After a revalve by NV2 it’s just as plush without the bottoming. The motor could use more torque off the very bottom but from mid-top it’s the fastest 250 I have ever ridden.
Kyle it's been confirmed they xc will be a 6 speed, KTM finally updated their website. As for TPI issues I ride with 6 different guys that have them and none of them have had oil pump issues or piston seizures but they have all had issues with sensors and a couple with fuel pump relays.

250 is great, but I buy the 300 for resale. Way easier to sell when the time comes.
What pressure are you running for this trail? I plan to go tubliss when I replace my current tires.
cant you get mousses in usa?
Nice bike!
I would keep that 22 xc just in case until you're sure what ktm is going to do.
Where is this trail?
dang what an amazing trail! Where is this at?
I feel like he hasn’t liked many bikes that way he likes this one. Which is saying something.
Had a 83 XR 500 that I bought new, couldn't wait for that divorce.
I,m married to my 2007 ktm 200 exc till death do us part . Best bike ever ..
Lay off the pre workout/coffee combo.. lol
What is your job?
Sucks here in California any red sticker bike 2022 or new can only be ridden on race track or private property.
You sound like a liberal complaining about what they voted for.
pretty sure you CAN marry it in California.
I had a suggestion/question why not review any of the TM brand bikes? I've been seeing them in the Enduro GP circuits and motocross more recently and would love too see a review
I bet they’re going away from tpi this cycle because of the chip shortages ☹️
I have a 2019 ktm xcw 250 and it’s by far the worst bike I’ve ever owned. Good to know the new ones are better
Question at what point do you consider having a riding buddy incase of an emergency? I tend to ride alone and I don’t push my limits. My last ride seen a guy walking because he crashed his dirt bike, he got airlifted but man it was a wake up call. Any suggestions anyone tips advice.
Much appreciated
At what point? Always, if possible.
@@gzahnd I see he’s riding alone. Will he ride alone on a new trail that’s more challenging i wonder
Oh, my gosh this guy talks a lot! 😄
Are you going to buy a 2023 250
Kyle, what 2 stroke oil do you use in your TPI bikes? Motorex? Or Amsoil? Do you think you could use Amsoil Saber?
Man where the fuck is this? You need to make a review of best riding spots. Not like any of can actually get ro those spots often. So no fear of over crowding lol
Sounds like you and that dirt bike need to get a room. Jokes.
Hit the power band to match your enthusiasm
Nothing against a Honda or a four-stroke I have both but those Honda videos were putting me to sleep. And I could tell they weren't exciting you very much either.
when was the last time you danced with your wife and gave her those comments 🙂?
300xc is better imo
