You should "credit" the shops who did the original work so everyone can be aware what kind of work they can expect from them. I mean it's just free advertising of the "quality" they offer.
Im like 90% sure youre right. I gave David $100 during a livestream to try and get him to talk about his experience with GNG and he didn't say much about it other than he was one of their victims lol@@thereal2scummy636
If you watched literally any of this video or the last one you'd see they didn't just "forget" something, the entire car was a death trap @@alexher8507
I was excited when you announced this years ago and I’m so glad to see you did it correctly before posting and I really appreciate what you’re doing and I can’t wait to see more
I love you guys. Motivated humans doing awesome stuff together as well as apart. Great job circling back around to rewrite this cars story. I also love that you mentioned the Ford Contour. The SVT was a cool car. My friend owned one and I was jealous.
I honestly think stress and the mental grind is one of the hardest parts about doing stuff like this. I swapped my engine over the holiday break and while everything mechanically was straight forward finding the strength to do those 12 hour days like you said back to back and remaining calm and positive when something isn’t fitting right or when you’re having to do multiple runs to the store for parts was really tough.
One thing ive learned is to not rush for events, theres always next year. Ive been trying to work on my g35 for the last 2 years but life got in the way, so ive just been gathering every part i need. I recently finally had free time to work on the car and ill be happier when its finished. Ill only need to take the motor and trans out this one time and i should be set when it goes back in.
There's definitely balance to be found, I think. Putting life on hold to try and finish a project probably isn't the best idea, but sometimes having a deadline can give you the boost of motivation you need to get stuff done on that project.
I’m so excited to see how this thing performs at your cosmic drift event. As I’ve said before: absolutely loving this series so far. You and Allan have such great chemistry on camera and he’s been a super welcome addition to the channel for this project. Hopefully we can see him in future videos again. I know he makes the periodic appearance but it would be awesome to see him and his shop on the channel for future builds
The car is looking awesome and you're right about rushing a project car. I can't tell you how many times friends and I would spend sleepless nights trying to rush something together to get to an event and then having to do it all over again correctly later.
Considering I had a project Foxbody when I started driving, this series is the best for one thing: it’s REAL. Years can go by but the term PROGRESS IS PROGRESS couldn’t be more true. Amazing series David. Thank you for showing that side of car building.
I remember seeing you post about this car when I was but a young man. Glad to see it's come together before I die. All kidding aside, I've really enjoyed this series so far and can't wait to keep watching! I hope you feel proud- this project is absolutely something to be proud of. Car looks great so far and it'll be rad to see once it's "finished" (or as finished as a project car gets)
I really want one of the retro Thunderbirds we keep seeing in the background. All they need to look amazing is to lower it a little bit and to slap on some better tires and rims.
This is really awesome! I think you will be really happy when you are all done with this build, not just the car being done but even the uploads on the build, seeing it truly done and knowing it's an epic car and not some fire hazard will hopefully give you a great sense of accomplishment! Because that is what it is, an epic finish to a crazy build! Can not wait to see the next video!
Eurofed is one of the worst. Completely screwed me over, to this day they refuse to accept responsibility even though I have before and after and had a top professional with trophies and magazine creditability review eurofed work and he gave me written quote with all the issues eurofed screwed up on. Another shop is Atlanta specialty in Woodstock, crooks! Glad you made this video.
Pro-tip . When riveting over fenders on you don’t need to put them 1 inch on center. Also should have used rivcerts not rivets.. now when you inevitably blow that qp apart on track one day it’s gonna be a lot of fun installing a new one lol. I’m happy I’m too broke to pay anyone else to do work on my cars😂 happy yall got it done definitely a cool build .
I'm really loving this series. TBH I'm not super excited these days for car review content and typically only watch your videos when they show up from the algorithm. This build series however is really bringing me back day to day looking for the next video. I think that is what's been lacking here and why you've seen a drop in viewership over the years. You really need content that continues from video to video to keep people coming back over and over again. Just me two cents. Keep up the awesome work and I look forward to seeing where things go from here!
Such an awesome car building series! Love your buddy Allen! Dude was most certainly an og hot rodder in his past life, what an amazing guy! And also, like someone else already stated, the chemistry you guys have is amazing, the humor is..perfection :)
Not to seem too hostile here, but I've watched all of the episodes and several of the messed up bits being blamed on "nameless other shops" seem like stuff you and your friend messed up in the beginning. Like, in the last episode, you said "they" ruined your firewall but in like episode 2 or 3 we see you and possibly someone else sawzalling the firewall. Also, the crushed fender. The shop owner says you/possibly someone on your team improperly loaded it on a lift but later that's also an uno reversal. I don't want to go on too long here, I like the stuff you produce and will continue to watch. Any thoughts though or am I completely mistaken?
respect you putting out your reality warts and all instead of trying to portray an idealized image of the perfect life. It's inspiring to see people i respect work through hard times. Keep on keeping on brother.
I appreciate your professionalism especially after what those shops put you through mentally and financially but I kinda wish the viewers ESPECIALLY the ones in the Georgia area could be made aware of these specific shops to hopefully prevent the same situation from happening to them.
Can’t wait for the finale, man! Talk about a long-time-comin’… You must be SO excited to finally get to drive the car after all this time 😁😎 Super happy for you! Way to go! 👍🤘🏼🔥
It's a learning process. Project cars are rarely perfect, and a lot of the times, you'll find better ways to do things, even if what you've done came out good already.
Real struggles get resolved by real buddies, real friends and over that, real professionals. Been there, done that, been there and struggle with almost the same things. My Project is running well, is healthy and way better than anyone could have done.
Twice with my car I rushed the work to make it to something in time... Taking my sweet time with current changes and other work as well as reviving another car. Going to do it the right way this time.
I am working on my first swap. Not my first engine tho. Ls3/4L80 in a 03' Crown Vic Police Interceptor. I started making videos for my grand kids so they can maybe do something similar down the road. I was joking around and posted a video of me teaching my grandson how to gap rings and the video exploded. 325k views so far. I know it's not the engine work. I believe it's the interaction with my grandson that touched people. I'm going to keep going. The Vic has always been my favorite car and I am making it my own like you are with the 240. I love the blue.
What i really want to know at the end of this is how much have you spent on this build? Seems like you've had a ton of people work on this car, and labor isn't cheap.
as much as I hate that you lost that FB revenue, I'm glad you're posting on YT more because I hate FB :) hope the views keep on coming!!! Looking forward to what 2024 has to hold for you! Also I bought a GRC because of your review :)
My first thought was the song from The Dead kennedys song "trust your mechanic " sl Sorry you went through so much trouble with this build. I have learned a lot from watching your channel. Stay AWESOME
You woulda been better off with a 302/351 Windsor with a Sniper Stealth (or even a LS). The coyote's are just too bulky - the 302/windsor is six inches narrower but is the same height, and same weight, and would mitigate the "clarence" issues with the steering shaft and headers. You could also get a Tremec Magnum 6-speed to bolt right up to it, or if you need something narrower to fit the trans tunnel, a Tremec TKX 5-speed (designed to fix early muscle cars and support up to too 700 lbft of torque). FWIW, I swapped my 2012 V6/auto Mustang to a stout Windsor stroker (500whp N/A). I can install/remove the headers without having to lift the motor off the k-member (Coyote guys know that pain). Finally, rushing to finish a car for an event is - well - a waste of time. You end up making bad decisions/choices that you know are bad, followed by the idea that you'll come back and fix it later. This also means you're gonna spend even more money on that thing - instead of taking your time and doing it right the first time. I'm old, and have done a lot of project cars in my time. I've made those mistakes, and learned from it.
My LS Miata took 5 years between starting the project and driving it. Too damned long, but it's been trouble free ever since. I'm not ashamed of anything on the car.
The thang I can take away from this is to take my time rebuilding my beloved 96 Ford Probe SE. The guy who painted my car stripped it down of its parts thank goodness I was able to find a good parts car
The whole story, combined with the crap you went through with your other cars is mind blowing. The only thing I'm starting to wonder is how you paid for all of this. Whether they did a crap job or not, I'm sure they billed you like it was a piece of art. And even Allan, being your friend and what not and probably giving you a better rate, his work has to be paid as well. I can't imagine the financial headaches that came along the way.
I remember back in the day my sideskirts came in for my integra and I rattle canned them the night before a meet and the air was humid af. Paint was still sticky and no clear but still went.
Being new to the car scene in my area it's kind of hard to find a good "performance" shop. I tried to do a turbo replacement my self, but there was so many broken studs and bolts I had to take it to a shop. Granted I made the mistake of not even going to the shop b4 I had my car towed there. $1200 later I get the car back, and on my way home 3 out of 5 of the bolts that connect the turbo to the down pipe fell out. I got the shop to put new ones in, but one snaped inside. Now the garage I took it to says " we used the hardware you provided so if you want us to get that bolt out and put everything back together that will be $400"😢😢
Big fan of you bud, I come here and there, all life is about mistakes, take it slow and NEVER let people take you for granted. I don't know what you payed the other "shop" but if you aren't doing it yourself you have to accept you are going to have to pay more for quality. You now know the red flags, learn from it and keep on movin. Also, still very surprised you haven't put that shop on blast, they absolutely deserve it, they put your life and others in danger... Please name this shop and there names regardless of whether or not they went out of business.
I just redid the headliner and A,B,C pillars on my 1997 C Class. It's tempting to just do something without the proper tools and materials just to have it finished. However doing something right is far more worth it in the end.
Love watching you bro, watched basically this whole video. Only thing I don’t get is most of your captions you make for your videos doesn’t acknowledge what your title says. I’ll watch the whole vid and not once you talk about what your title says. I skipped maybe 1 min of the video and again your doing everything but address the title/topic. Just coming across the build gotta say I’m sorry you had to go through the shtty situation but without that the memories wouldn’t have been made so yea I also would suggest tbm brakes if you haven’t bought or thought of different brakes because stopping is just as important as going fast 😂🤝
