The Harsh Reality of Car Shows in 2023
Вставка
- Опубліковано 8 чер 2024
- I had the opportunity to host my very own car show and drift event. It was an amazing journey, and I learned a lot. However if you aren't ready for its challenges you will find your car in a car event nightmare rather than a dream. Thankfully with good people behind you - your ideas can really thrive. However my Coyote swapped Nissan 240sx was still causing a ton of problems, and we try to fix the issues as well from previous shops.

Never give up man, we're all here for you. Speaking of not giving up, this is year 3 of me trying to get my 1996 Mystic cobra in your hands. Who knows, maybe this comment will get enough thumbs up and you'll see it!
David I have been a viewer since 2013. I have always appreciated how you keep it real with not only car struggles and issues but life and its challenges. Thank you for being a person I can watch and both learn valuable information about cars but also relate to on mental health and life’s constant trials and tribulations. I wish you a lot of success in 2024 and beyond. Always here as a viewer.
I've been watching you since early 2014, and I can honestly say that the way I view the car scene as a whole wouldn't be the same without you. I've always loved the way you keep it real and are so open minded towards cars as a whole. I don't know if I ever would have started making automotive videos if I hadn't found your channel. Keep up the great work as always, David. 🙌
I spent my 46th birthday driving at the Cosmic Drift event in my LS powered blue S14. I had a great time both days and got to meet some awesome people. Thank you David for putting it together!!!
Cosmic drift was a blast! Can’t wait to come back this year!! LETS GOOO
Lighting gets real expensive real quick. Extremely difficult to pull off on any sort of a budget. I work as a grip in the film industry and understand how much of a challenge putting together an event like this is. Simply supplying ample power to run the lights and do it safely is expensive and takes an experienced crew to run power distribution and place them all properly. Having a gaffer on your side would have been a game changer for your event.
I already have so many ideas for improvement on the lighting side of things and if you ever decide to do another one of these “lighting heavy” events I’d be honored to donate my time and help out.
That being said keep up the good work David!
Being someone who attends all of your events in Georgia, I must say watching the growth in your events at Lanier is an honor. I had so much fun at the cosmic drift event doing a bunch of ride alongs, seeing all the lights, and the whole set up was amazing and made for a great vlog on my channel. I can't wait for the next event and this time I will be sure to bring my own helmet lol Also for you to be going through all the hiccups in the background and still pulling everything off is a true testament of what guts and determination can get you and for you showing that I am thankful. You are definitely a big inspiration to me and why I continue to push through with youtube. Hopefully one day I will be able to collab with you not only on a video but also an event as well. Stay awesome David!! You are a treasure really!!
Cosmic Drift was pretty awesome. It's the only event he's been involved in that I have attended.
David! I was all smiles watching this! Seeing all my friends in this helping out and seeing you bring your dreams to reality! Super stoked to see you guys again after getting back from this LAST DEPLOYMENT for me 🫡 miss you guys!!!
You may stumble you may fall. But the biggest thing I’ve learned is you never give up. Learn from your mistakes and make it better. And then learn from those mistakes and make it better. It goes on and on just gotta make a mistake and learn from it. You got this
Yes!!!!! Been waiting forever to see when this would play out in video form. Can't wait. I just know it's gonna be good.
Been hosting and coordinating car shows for the past 8 years of my life both big and small.
Very nice to see you posting content about all the logistical nightmares and headaches that come with doing such things.
Hope it makes people realize how much hard work and effort the people behind these events put in.
For what is worth man, me and my kid both had an absolute blast at the event!
Mountain Man Fab.. Legit good fab work. Cole is a rockstar.
Man, I can't wait to get out of the out military next year! I got a 2013 Boss 302 waiting for me at home that I would love to take it to events like yours!
Cosmic Drift was awesome, me and several friends had a great time. Love your content, great video!
12:37 I LOVE ME SOME SCOTT 🫡
I went to lanier FND 3/4 times a month this past year, and a couple other events at Lanier and lemme say this …. Cosmic drift was the BEST event I had went to all year. And I went to a lot. I can tell so much went into cosmic and I really respect the hustle and hard work. It def paid off and was so damn fun. A night that I didn’t want to end. I’m so excited for cosmic drift this year and excited for everything you got planned !!!
Love the honesty and the work you put in for all of your vids and builds, much love my man
You're kiling it papi, cosmic drift was a blast, thank you for letting me be a part of it
Friday night drift at Lanier is one of the best driver events there is for just putting in laps
Having run a few SCCA national level pro solo events... On an active airport with an active USAF nat guard unit... i feel your pain. Mentally taxing is an understatement 😑
Favorite car youtuber...don't let it get you down man! Doing great
I dig the pace and style of your content. And the subject matter. Great blend of educational and entertaining. ❤❤❤
maaan thank you for sharing the journey of setting up something big like this. it’s so cool to see the work, time, and issues that go into a huge event. keep up the good work and keep the videos coming 😄😄
the game where you pull a short drift followed by instantly flicking the car around while trying to stop as close to (in this case) a table as possible, Looks really fun.
Those little innocent games are often the most fun, in my experience at least.
It kinda reminded me this game i used to play during the annual Honda CX motorcycle club i used to be part of, We'd spend a weekend together on a farming field or camping location, Having little games and such. One of them was a simple competition of who could ride the slowest.
We'd set a distance and we had to ride that distance as slow as possibly, On a grass field, With heavy old motorcycles mainly from the 80's. The only rules there were was you're not allowed to put your foot down, And you're only allowed to go as straight as you can.
It was a challenge. But it was a simple concept. Honestly, Most fun game of everything we did.
I’m hooked to this series… and now I want cosmic drift here in cali
Dude, that's awesome man. It always amazes me when I see someone have a vision in their mind and turn it into reality. I know there were more hurdles than what you mentioned and it's sweet seeing you accomplish it
Yo David, much respect to you sir! I ENJOYED myself at Cosmic Drift and can only see it getting bigger and better! I'm so glad you're local now and look forward to supporting anything you do! Happy New Year!
I don't have a working keyboard atm, so I type on the "on screen keyboard". But I just had to comment and say; The promo for the Cosmic Drift event gave me goosebumps when I first saw it, and now that I saw how you made it happen, it gave me goosebumps and the chills! It's that epic!!
I’m so excited for the next video. This project has been nothing but the absolute best I can’t wait to see what you do next.
I remember when I started watching you, I was a little boy I don’t believe I was even in high school yet (don’t remember the exact year) but shortly before the mustang got rear ended. And to see how much you have grown is honestly such a heartwarming sight. I hope to attend an event of yours some time I’m close to finishing my very first build (well mechanically at least) and can’t wait to take it out to some events (it’s nothing crazy just a fully built gen coupe 2.0 big turbo aiming to hit 500whp.
“Thats why he is the GOAT” you the really are the GOAT david. I wish i can be at your next event truly wish to.
My guy! Love how you put all the pieces together!!!
How cool is it that you went from a video student, to a professional UA-camr, to a bad ass race car driver, and now an event coordinator for YOUR OWN events!!
It’s just the beginning David!! Super proud of you and how far you’ve come.
PS. I met you and Alejandra at In n Out on EDC weekend some years back. Still brag to my buddies about that haha
Bro what you’re doing is building a car guy legacy. Keep this content coming!
I'm loving this series! I can't wait to see stuff from the event. I love the concept of the night drifting with all of the neon lights!
Bro you really motivated & taught me a lot on what to and not to do because I wanna do stuff just like this when my channel and community gets bigger
Just wanna say big thanks and a big fan bro❤
Your growth as a person and as a car enthusiast and drifter is encouraging and amazing
What an awesome story and this series has been great keep it up David!
All the hardwork and dedication is worth it for what you're able to do!! You definitely deserve all the good things coming to you man!! Hope to meet you at ICC this year if you go! If you do, you can take my car for a spin 😎 congratulations on all your success man!! Been a follower since about the 2012-2013 range.
Ive enjoyed this series. Great behind the scenes on your adventure.
As one of the drivers I have to say…Cosmic drift was an awesome event I really hope you do it again this year!! Me and my buddy have talked about having an event just like it for years and you did it. The only thing I would like to see more of is EVEN MORE leds on the track itself. I know us at Quietboiz and I’m sure many others would be happy to help fund these kind of awesome events for the community!
Let's Go David!!! 💯💪🏽💯
Just keep being you brother things will go easier with time and experience
Mad props for coming as far as you did and giving us amazing content. 😊
thats awesome, i love the brz/86 it was my first car and made me want to drift and loved the aesthetics. I hope you do more events in the future and just get better at it while having fun. i also think it would be a good idea to have a sponsor at those events that would have handy parts for repairs as im sure cars break down sometimes. but yeah.
Loved the video! Can’t wait to see what’s next.
Great series and glad it all worked out in the end.
Seeing the white sc300... i want mine back soooooo bad
Really enjoyed this series
Love your content brother keep up the hard work
Love how the car looks
Thanks for the aluminum wrench tip. I didn't know that was a thing. Luckily, I haven't messed with AN fittings yet.
That new coyote intake is siiiiiick!
I would love it if you filmedthe next event you do. I can't make it to events but I really enjoy your channel ❤
Do It With Dan is how I found your channel back in the day
Seeing Chris from SSR on the channel again reminds me of painting Smurf and makes me want a tuxedo black mustang with extra crushed glass. Maybe one day all these hopes and dreams I’ll have money for haha
so cool, great ideas man!
I think its dope that Allen works out of a US General roll cart. Everyone always wants to talk crap about Harbor Freight stuff but theyve come a mighty long ways
Wow brother, that is bad azz!!!!!
David I've been watching your UA-cam videos ever since you first started building your . Nissan 240sx and have been watching it ever since . Although I didn't like your reviews on the Ford Probe I still watch anyway
I got mega goosebumps watching this
My new fav drift car. It’s so siiiick
I like the new video format it feels more one on one
AN fittings are very happy with a little painters tape applied to the wrench itself . Not like they need to be super tight.
Ive been thinking about starting my own drift event these last few weeks, so this timing is 👌
I think it'd be awesome to see you end up immortalized in a video game like the guys from donut!
Looks like the CobraJet manifold ford used to sell. Nice!
Cosmic drift was my first car event. It was a lot of fun. Honestly i can't wait for the next one.
Well David, speaking of electronic dance music, who are your favourite artists? I'm from Toronto, went to EDC in 2019 and 2021. Gong showwwwwww, the production at that festival is God damn unbelievable.
Awsome!!!!!!
It would be awesome to see you at an LZ event in the future!
Man idk about anyone else but the Cosmic Drift event gave me some Forza Horizon vibes and I’m all for it!
Man I hate I was working in Huntsville at the time It would have been my first event ever lol but I'm glad you got it done bro
I really respect the harbor freight tool box shoved full of good tools.
The box makes 0 difference in the quality of outcome.
Heck i know plenty of people with 15,000$ snap on box, that have 0 idea what to do with it.
I am so sorry to miss the Cosmic Drifting event. I had it on my calendar for so long, but by the time it came up, I realized that my wife probably does not care.
Please do it again. She seemed somewhat receptive when I brought it back up.
Acworth, GA resident.
Seeing this kind of stuff always makes me feel good about my 2017 Mustang GT and the Coyote that's in her.. PPL are Coyote swapping everything it will fit into.. And cars they don't fit into even.. There's a guy not to far from me that put a Dog in his 88 GT.. The thing looks great and fly's..
Keep pushing my man, we got your back! (Anyone seeing this, leave a comment, any comment, to help the algo, also like the vid)
Is what an insane story
Goodness golly David. You need a vacation
Killed it
I went to the cosmic drift event, was a really good time.
Great series, where is Allen now? I see that Excel Motorworks as closed. Looking for a shop close by with actually knowledgeable people.
Love edclv, woulda been cool to bump into you
Most annoying intake manifold is prelude SH. Not the regular preludes but the ones with the atts. The bottom bolts are very hard to reach.
Car culture for the most part is a complete joke currently. Too many posers and People just buying cars just to create clout. At least Dudeinblue is a real automotive enthusiast and doesn't sugarcoat anything.
6:36 A wise man passes on wisdom
If factory cars were made with the pride and care that these guys show, Ford wouldn't be in the mess its in now...
As someone whos doing a VERY uncommon coyote swap, what would your advice be to stay on a budget?
Coyote swapping a 93 sonoma and going to snag a stage 2 calimer mt82.
Motor is being rebuilt from a gen 1 f150 but getting holley control pack and gen 2 mustang cams paired to an explorer 8.8 rear end.... Frankenstein asf
I don’t even know half of what I just read but good luck because this sounds so rad!
@fa1keino25 thanks! 😂 itll be a little monster for sure. Im doing youtube on it as well, just having to save up right now so im stalled out
Does the ford performance manifold also work on the F150
❤
Hey I know where Buford is…. Don’t know that shop was there!
I love your Buddy. Fuckin Class Act
Did Allan’s shop go out of business? His google page says permanently closed and the website is no longer active?
yooooooooooooooo🔵🔥🔵🔥🔵🔥🔵🔥
I was there
Would have been great if David didn't keep taking his shirt off and driving without a seatbelt like he was some kind of badass
Cosmic Drift 2?
I don't know why no one ever gets really creative with drift events . Tricks on a blank canvas track is the norm . No one uses props or abnormal drifts.
Been following your channel since way back, this updated lighting scheme makes it rough to watch.
Way too aggressive on the LED’s, at least consider changing the positioning 🤷♂️.
It’s only for this series. Only one more to go.
Take the intake manifold off a Chevy 3500 or 4200. I’d say that’s one of the worst ;)
to be honest i would of never threw a v8 under a 240sx, there's more than enough power from either a inline six or v6. I do know that this 240 is a drift rocket but the amount of work that need to be done you can literally build an entirely new car hell you an start a car company with all of the mettle fabricating that needed to be done
I have a 2JZ 240sx as well and it’s also a massive pain to maintain. Just 240 things
@@ThatDudeinBlue when i became a subscriber you were already drifting 2jz 240 and the fact that the 2jz keeps breaking. and I do know when People are planning to race they're cars they tend to be come nightmare's at some point and being the 240 is a Nissan i probably would of stuck with a Nissan motor. but that's just me.
I am a fan of your work and I am hoping that this year brings a much needed change in your life, I hope things will be a little bit easier for you, your family and team this year
