Front or Rear Bike Seat - As summer approaches, so do family outings. The warmth, sunshine, and long days are perfect for a day of exploring on two wheels. But, when it comes to bringing the little ones along, you may find yourself wondering which is best for the kiddos, front or rear bike seat?

The advantage of rear seat is that it can be a bigger cocoon style of seat that protects the child's left and right. Front seat can't be too big because it will block the rider. But I do agree that having the seat in front makes the rider more able to react to protect the child.

Front bike seat are horrible for sudden and tight turns as it gets in the way of your arms.. and it also gets in the way of the legs for pedaling.. as for sudden breaks, rear seat will not get the child "flown off" because there is a safety belt you strap your child to. And the rear offers more protection from flying debris as you are traveling forward, there will be no time to react to shield the child from flying debris on the road.. rear seat offers better safety for frontal collisions. But the idea of being to see what your child is doing is indeed an advantage for front seats. But being able to catch the child while strapped on a fall is same as catching them together with the entire bike. So best would still be a proper protective gear for the child. Which the rear seat can be bigger and have a better protective cocoon for your child.
