    I like that the Topeak comes with a cross bar but me not being a parent, it didn’t occur to me that it’s portably for security and I’m thinking about about comfort for putting your arms there to rest 🤣

    Seeing those big kids in the front seats gives me anxiety 😆 They are used in the Netherlands from the age the child can sit on his own (around 5 months I think?), some of the babies in it are tiny. The oldest in it are usually maybe 12-18 months? And then move to the rear seat 😂 Of course children up to 3 fit in the front seat, but it's mostly used for babies. I'm a childminder of a 12 month old, and I'm looking into rear seats. I find the front seat annoying anyway, I have to make quite a bit of speed to get on the seat with enough balance (at least that's what it has felt like for me, but I've only used them on the bikes of the parents I mind, so it's not my own, which also doesn't help probably).

    • @Twowheelingtotsbikes
      @Twowheelingtotsbikes  2 роки тому

      Your option for over 50 pounds would be by Bobike:
      www.bikeinn.com/bike/bobike-junior-classic-plus-rear-child-bike-seat/138345675/p?id_producte=14115784&country=us&gclid=CjwKCAiAprGRBhBgEiwANJEY7KVIijOZkw4_3cYQJc-JRQmevPEexaEna2NRTUs47ubbPCdM6YQDixoCIa8QAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds
      Be aware that this much weight on the back of your bike is difficult to manage.
      You could also try something like the Trail Gator tow bar: www.twowheelingtots.com/trail-gator-review/

    How do you get on and off the bike when the kid is on the back? I’d usually throw my leg over the seat or tilt the bike but that would kick them or possibly cause the bike to fall. Thanks

    • @Twowheelingtotsbikes
      @Twowheelingtotsbikes  2 роки тому +4

      If you have a "men's style" bike with a flat top bar, it honestly can be pretty difficult!
      Getting on or off next to a wall or bench where you can lean the seat against it is what we usually do.
      Another great method is to load up next to a curb so you are several inches higher than normal. That makes it much easier to swing your leg over.

    Great! Thanks for the amazing review. It really helps a lot?
    I'm not sure I will be able to see/touch first hand the seats (I'd probably have to purchase online) so I would like to ask you about the Caress and Ride Along.
    Are the bottom padding removable in both? (In the ridealong it looks like it's a whole piece with the back padding).
    How would you compare the reclining features of the two and the head/helmet recess?
    My main concern with my actual (cheap) baby bike seat is the wobbling head of my daughter when falling asleep and I would like to eliminate the problem (hamax looks easier and smoother to recline looking at your videos but also shorter and less spacious for the head).
    Judging from your reviews the hamax looks super comfortable and easy to use but those tight belts on the neck sure look bad. Plus the fact the adjusting the height "opens" the back of the seat (short child always exposed to air flow while taller one not?!?!).
    My daughter is just turning 2 (she's a little bigger then average, nothing outrageous haha) and I would like to have a seat that does a proper job both immediately then in the next future (I would when she gets to big to just switch to the trailer)...
    Sorry for the huge message but your in depth reviews answer questions that later turn into more questions hahaha

    • @Twowheelingtotsbikes
      @Twowheelingtotsbikes  Рік тому +1

      The seat padding on the RideAlong is removable, the Hamax is not. If you are planning on using the seat longer term, the RideAlong is a better bet given the more narrow placement of the Hamax straps. We have individual video reviews for both of these, as well as full written reviews on our website. Those will both provide significantly more information.

My daugther is 5'0 and she can ride the small just fine. I've used this with both front and rear seats. The rear seat does require a rack if you buy the step-through frame.

    • @Twowheelingtotsbikes
      @Twowheelingtotsbikes  Рік тому +1

      There actually aren’t any US safety standards for any front mounted seats, only rear mounted. We have tested the Kangaroo and didn’t love it compared to other options, despite its popularity. You can read our full review of that seat here: www.twowheelingtots.com/weeride-kangaroo-bike-seat-review/

      @@Twowheelingtotsbikes Thanks for that, and aware that US hasn't got a standard for front seats. But EU, Australia etc do, and just thought safety would be the first thing you would test. And even if not experts, a seat with very little protection or restraints, though great fun, would clearly be compromising safety. Hence why it wont meet standards. There is a definitely a market for the Mac Rides and KRS, but it isnt the same as the other baby / child seats you review and just felt the safety angle should have been a focus. Thanks for reply anyway

    I'd be careful with the statement that Thule is the best company you can invest in. I've bought their most expensive trailer and it started falling apart within 1year, with stuff like brake screws falling off, never glued properly in the factory. It's been 4 weeks of the warranty processing and will take at least 6 more. Absolutely outrageous for a company charging such prices for their products. Also bear in mind the prices of the spare parts are insane,

      @Twowheelingtotsbikes  4 місяці тому +1

      Yeah, that sounds a bit ridiculous. Sounds like they should just replace it so you don't miss more riding time. It's expensive enough that you certainly can't just go out and by another trailer to tide you over until this one is fixed. :-(

      I know some can fit on ebikes. Here some (well known) brands in my country (Netherlands): Bobike, Yepp, Urban Iki, Qibbel Air. Not all of their seats will fit, but most rear seats of these brands seem to? As far as I can tell from their websites. I don't know, I've just bought an ebike, and am now searching the internet which brand I'll choose. I'm going to be buying it second hand probably, they are used so much here, it's quite easy to find a seat that still looks decent (especially with the well known ones bobike and yepp). Good luck!
