This version of the impressions had 5 top 10 hits in the 70"s so they were a success after adding these other 2 cats an reinventing themselves. God bless the impressions amen.

Groups breakup and move on. There is no way to keep a group together, there is no formula. You just enjoy the ride and hope they left some great work behind to be enjoyed once they have left this place.

White boy didn't know what a god Curtis was---even WHO he was---'til now---just knew his music. Wondering if Spinners' lead modeled his voice after Curtis's...
richard cohen The lead singer here is not Curtis Mayfield, He's great though. You have to listen to the 1960s Impressions, when Curtis Mayfield reigned supreme, both vocally, and lyrically.

@@jimmiesmith5811 I know all about what you've stated, somebody above commented that a Spinners lead vocalist was modelling his voice off Curtis's so I asked the ? Which lead.
Impressions in name only. Not close to the early 1960s sound that great group had. Major Lance sounds more like the Impressions than these men. They sound more like the 1970s Philly groups. Next to the Harptones, the Impressions are my all-time favorites.
Different styles because of different songwriters & producers,if you really expected them to sound just as their originally melodies you don't understand the music backroom work.

The commenter said Impressions in name only. Then said they are his favorite group. Can't have it both ways. They changed with the times. What were they expected to do? This line up was excellent. Ralph and Reggie were fantastic additions. Saw them at the Apollo in NY.
