NEVER BE ANOTHER CURTIS....GOD BLESS YOU MY BROTHER!!!!!!
He was a f*cking God!
No comparison, Curtis, the king of soul..
We won’t see his equal in our lifetimes..R.I.P.
💞The Incomparable Impressions💞
I was a little girl when I first heard:
“I’ve Found That I’ve Lost.” His voice mesmerized me. He’s one of our most underrated musical geniuses. When he died, I literally cried like a baby. Love him!💞
Greatest one man songwriter in memory, Curtis Mayfield, RIP.
I thought I knew the whole Impressions discography, but I was missing a rare gem!
Lol this is not rare lol
Discography right?
We're in love.
Devil in your soul.
Dedicate my song to you.
Those are a few gems. But loved and lost is as main stream as this must end or man oh man.
what a great group and Curtis was a baddd man one of the most underrated superstars of all time
I agree 100% his voice blows me away
Curtis Mayfield never got his just due as a songwriter. The guy was a hitmaker over and over again!
Oh yes he did...Those who know music knows that he was a musical genius..as a Singer, Songwriter and producer..in my opinion his ONLY peer is the Last living musical Genius/Poet Smokey Robinson!
Yes he DID ! Did you know that Curtis Mayfield is one of the few DOUBLE INDUCTEES into the ROCK and ROLL HALL of FAME? He got inducted as a member of his legendary singing group THE IMPRESSIONS, and also as a SOLO artist…and was a recipient of The Grammy Lifetime Achievement Award…AND The Grammy Legend Award, as well as being inducted into the Songwriters Hall of Fame in 1999.
@@williamg2552he was a genius, truly the backbone of the Chicago sound of the 60s and early 70s. Gene Chandler, Major Lance, Jerry Butler, his brother Billy Butler and the Enchanters, Jan Bradley, Leroy Hutson, the Five Stairsteps, the Staples Singers, Mavis Staples, Linda Clifford, Natural Four, and of course the music scores for Superfly and Sparkle. Again, he was a genius!
@@ricktoye1539 You Know It! 💯 He Was The Soul Preacher Of Chicago. 💯
I love Oldies, grew up listening to
Rock and Roll, it's only now that I've explored some Motown Greatest Hits. This being one by the Impressions.
I love Motown as well but The Impressions aren't a Motown act. They're from the Cabrini Green Projects of Chicago and were produced by one of record companies on the lower end of the Southside of Chicago just outside the downtown area.
I just love that Chicago sound, strings and all
You ain't never lied!!!!
I want to hop in the Delorean to go back to 1965 and make all those kids stop from clapping on each quarter note.
I heard this song years ago and it was ok. After listening to it today I realize what a true jewel this is. The lyrics, the vocals, the emotion put into this song is truly amazing...
Wow! Is this ever a find! What a treasure!!!!!!
Respect to that Chi- Town Soul Symphonic!!!!!
He surely was a superstar underrated yes not classed as same as rock bands. Far superior in my mind
Absolutely Beautiful!!! Great Footage!!! What a True Gem!!! What a Treasure!!!
2022 I still DJ this one I am 66
that voice that Curtis had!
The king of soul along with the ice man, touching the heart.
2021 I still DJ this one
Pure Gold!!
R.I.P. Curtis Mayfield.
Back when music was music and it came alive and captured your attention and took you away from it all...
THE GREAT IMPRESSIONS AND THE ARE GREAT
WOW, THE GREATEST. DAMN GOOD PERFORMANCE,
Thank u for the video
I really miss this sound it was soooo innocent and pure words soooo loving and kind men were so into women and vice versa..LORD HAVE MERCY
Those horns make this song very emotional like it should be. The violins let you know this is serious music with Curtis voice and the great harmonies. I also give credit to"song arranger "Johnny Pate" a great Jazz music icon. You can see all three of them on ''Moving On Up" on the Impressions Documentary.
Curtis Mayfield RIP
I Like It!
Among the Very Best TV Appearances By A Rythym & Blues Group,
the Original Curtis Blo
I love that Chicago sound
Many thanks to YOU, VENUS!!-Bill.
This is great, thanks...
Great vocal group with a special sound,
Check out the version by The Blackstones
I SAY whatever beat you feel -- leave em alone, at least they're digging the same music -- whatever beat you feel, it's a personal thing ... some like two and four, some like one and three -- it's all about the four beats anyway, you dig yours, and i'll dig mine. We always so critical about people's handclaps and beats .. PEACE BE STILL!
my favorite song
Ah yes, love The Impressions! Great footage, thanks for sharing.
Hi..your welcome...Thankyou.
great wee post-- cheers
Dear Lord what's with the clapping, those folks really didn't have a clue! LOL
the off beat clapping distracts from the performance a little....but otherwise.. classic stuff!
They can't help it.. don't charge it to their hearts😊
I didn't even notice them...my eyes are GLUED to The Impressions! lol
I thought that also!
"A little?" Lol...ya think!!??
A hellava allot!!
@@andrekilpatrick7704 My eyes were on The Impressions but, my ears where not.
needed this
If this is heaven, well i'll be happy.
I know I already commented, but I had to do it again. Damn Curtis do your thing!
Oh man! thank you thank you for posting this one!
Dean garretson your welcome....Thankyou.
The audience clapping off beat 😨, they sounded great though
I’m sure they appreciated the crowd clapping totally and incredibly out of time.
Audience rhythm says "Look for me" 'cause it ain't there. Director says "cut that off beat crap out!!
Damn listen to them damn girls lol
I think most of the noise was "canned", like the applause on most tv shows. On "Shivaree", you could hear cheering for singers no one had ever heard of.
Why didn't someone tell them people they were clapping out of time.😮
The Impressions were incredible, but the audience? Rhythmless...that is all.
Brilliant (except for the clapping)
Not one of the greater songs that Curtis Mayfield and the Impressions sang or wrote, however, this clip is fantastic!
It's a pity that most of the comments were negative remarks about the white people in this video, and very few good things about The Impressions performance. ☹
Po folks, ruined such a beautiful song with their lack of rhythm. Smdh
Why are they clapping offbeat? STOP DA CLAPPING
🤣🤣🤣 RIGHT
lotta my white brothers and sisters not able to clap on beat haha
🤣🤣🤣😂😂
I bet Curtis was thinking, get those silly women off from behind us their movements do not relate to our kind of music they look so ungainly ha ha ha
As you can clearly see...these were "pure" caucasians, no rhythm whatsoever! Nowadays.....they have "borrowed" a little soul from us! We're still waiting for them to return it!
