I’ve watched your channel in the past.. but I have to say the content you have been doing lately has been top tier. Finally someone who compares flagship bow brands without biased and gives solid, fair and consistent reviews on all equipment. It’s appreciated Sean. Keep up the great work!
Thanks..I've been doing it for years trying to provide more data for people and depict as accurately as possible how the bows were set up at the time of testing. God bless you
Matthews or Bowtech have been my top choices for years and probably would have been of my top two choices that day. However I was delighted by the hoyt as well and would have given it a consideration. If I was absolutely forced to make a choice, however, I would have gone home with the Matthews.
Great review and comparison Sean. Thanks for all the time I know that took. Great, solid, factual data there. Need more reviews like that 👍🏼👍🏼 I own an RX7 that I've had for a year now, and don't think I'll be replacing it, but I do have an Era on order to compare to it 😎
Thanks Sean! Now in terms of shoulder injuries, I just re-injured my rotator cuff yesterday with one of these speed bows on a let-down. In researching this (and having a medical professional father) I have observed a number of videos where experienced bow hunters are letting-down with the elbow tucked in hard to the rib cage. They are all saying it reduces chances of injury. Also, when drawing, an Olympic archer made a video that the best draw is not elbow high, but where the wrist and elbow come straight back, at about chin level...any thoughts on this? I know you once said you tore something years ago (first compound draw on a heavy bow? I forget exactly)...thoughts? Might be worth an entire video on this topic! My bow season is now over with zero in the freezer (hoping to land one at least with another weapon). I plan to go to a comfort mode and adjust my let off to 80% (rather than 90), also reduce my draw weight, so I will be less likely to re-injure next season. Should not be much of a speed loss but it is better than no speed ;-) Thanks again for all you do, mighty appreciated!
With an injury, you need to draw in a way that's not a long the torn spot if possible, that's what I do. For easing down, it's probably similar. Don't come down along the area of the tear. That's how I manage it. I tore mine 32 years ago and I've managed to be able to keep going without surgery by being conscious of the torn area and working around it. God bless
Makes sense, thanks and glad to hear it has not stopped you! I will keep this in mind, and likely do any let-down in the "elbow tucked hard into ribs" manner. Blessing as well brother, and as I like to say, keep honoring all spilled blood...@@seansoutdoors
Thank you for a very thorough review. I am worried about that Omnia cable / Cam interference. You are not the only reviewer that noticed that. Might be something to investigate further.
This will definitely help me. I'm looking to get a new bow. My 1st bow I got I bought off my nephew. Thanks for taking time out your day to do this. Good bless
With the Elite you don't get both performance and smooth mods included. You have to special order them and pay $90. Bowtech's Flip Disc technology means you get two bows in one.
@@WolfinWolvesClothing713 I'll have to disagree. Both the comfort and performance modes on the 2023 Bowtech CP30 and SS34 are very good. Two bows in one, no extra charge.
I'm still scared of blowtechs limbs I've seen way too many blown up and the plastic limb pockets and I've never seen them hit anywhere close to their ibo speeds I do like how they setup to tune though
Nice job brother! I use the same bow for several seasons, like most guys, don't see much difference, still can kill bucks with my 20 year old Matthews Solo cam.
Hey Sean, as always, nice review. What I would like to see is a carbon bow showdown with hoyt, bowtech, p.s.e, and elite. What are the possibilities of you making that happen?
The only way that would happen is if the shop could get them all in or something like that but I don't know if they could do that. Option B would be if each manufacturer sent em a loaner to test and then send back but I can't imagine they'd ever do that. It's too much of a risk for them if their bow doesn't stand up to the competition.
Have you done a review on the Elite Carbon Era or The Bear Execute?? A few bow shops I tour between Oklahoma and Texas have said that Bear has officially entered the flagship market with a bow that can compete with the other flagships. Curious as to your thoughts on this. Also, I’m an inch away from purchasing the Elite Carbon Era. Lol! God bless you sir!
I've got around 2000 arrows through my omnia. I was concerned about the cable touching the cam, but there's not even a "shiny" spot on the serving and it's an absolute tack driver. I'm shooting 70lbs 30" dl 500 grain arrow at 294fps
Good luck with the efforts. I used to call Obsession every year and ask them to help me get my hands on their bows to review. The first year they said, SURE, but then would not return my calls after the initial call and it never happened. The following few years they would not even return my calls so I stopped trying. Prime once helped me meet up with one of their sales reps at a store, but that was the only time. It ended up being such a hassle for me, and I had to drive over an hour to get to the location they were willing to meet with me, that I just stopped trying to get it to work out. Even still, if they are willing to help me review them I will give them a fair, unbiased look over.
My only complaint about Boyd's draw Force curve is the dump into the valley I just don't like that when you roll over in The Whole Bowl shakes in your hand
I have been shooting my Elite Synergy since 2015, I was so excited about the new Omnia thinking this was the year for an upgrade, now with all these cable / Cam rubbing, issues I'll either keep shooting my Synergy or look at an other Manufacture. SS34 has my attention!!
Good reviews! I’ll take one of each please. That Vital Point guy knows what he’s talking about. The harshness of the 70 pound performance mod caught me by surprise as well. I either had to work out more, or go with the comfort mod.… Comfort mod for the win!
As mentioned in the video, I could only review what they had available. If you'd like me to review APA then contact them and ask them to send me a bow to review. I'll ship it back to them when complete.
Great stuff and great reviews of these flag ship bows. I am pretty much onboard with you and your assessment of the Omnia. I shoot that bow and I love it. I have a 27.5 draw length set at 70lbs and other than the more intense draw cycle with the performance mod (which is exactly how you described) I couldn’t ask for a better shooting bow. Once I got used to the draw cycle using the Performance Mod I don’t feel it as much as I did in the beginning. I also like to be as much of a DIY guy so the S.E.T. Technology make this bow very easy to micro tune. Fortunately for me I don’t have the cam/cable interference that you noted but thankfully you did to make others aware of the possibility. Thank you for all you do for archers out there and God Bless.
If it helps but all comes down to preference I have an Elite Terrain and have no complaints so I can only imagine the Omnia probably would be an upgrade. Nice shooting bows. Great video BTW.
I examined a Bowtech Carbon One and unfortunately, it inherited the flawed 2022 cams which have a severe S-shaped cable attachment that can cause serving separation. Also, no weight savings so I would avoid. The 2023 SS34 and CP30 have updated cams that correct the cable angle and are much more affordable.
I had to watch this video twice and it looks to me that the bows you looked most comfortable holding and shooting was the Matthews and the Bow Tech. And your voice and expressions showed you liked the Bow tech the best. Just my observation
Thanks for watching. They tend to be my two of my favorites. I'm always open to other bows impressing me, but those two are pretty consistent year after year. God bless you.
you can't increase the poundage by untwisting the string - it will only give you a longer DL - to get the Bowtech to 70 lbs you have to twist the cables if the limb bolts are already maxed out (or if you have a new Reckoning gen2 you can use the new time lock system 👍). Twisting the cables will likely give you the missing half inch in DL without having to untwist the string as it will pull the limbs together (letting more string out).
I've gotten higher draw weight by untwisting the string on other bows because it not only increases draw length but also changes the cam rotation. I'd imagine this bow is not an anomaly in that regard, but I have not had the opportunity to try it so if you tried it and say it didn't change then okay.
Specs (fps IBO, brace height, bow weight, etc....) haven't really changed for 10+ years. This is good information for someone buying a first compound bow, however. It's fun to look at new bows, but I see no reason to buy a new one any more. I would feel silly replacing my 10 year compound bow.
Thanks, I thinking asking people to click the like button helped because more people are so UA-cam is pushing it out a little more since the algorithm thinks people are liking it. If it just popped up now it took a day to get to that point.
Bow prices have gone insane. I'll stick with inexpensive bows that I know can be tuned to shoot lights out (i.e.: Diamond Infinite Edge Pro, Diamond Edge 305, and Sanlida Dragon X8).
The Mathews which has draw length specific modules runs almost a half inch too long. And with the way past parallel limbs, I can't use my trusty portable bow press. Isn't that just great!
@@seansoutdoors nope couldn't find it he talks about being in a stand and a doe comes out and does this call to feed and all these deer come out to feed
That was probably in one of my old videos then. When I was in NY. Probably my humble beginnings part two video. I also recount the same thing in my hunting book.
It was only the first bow that the mic wasn't on. Aside from that that's as good as you're going to get for audio. The entire rest of the video, including the commentary in my office, we're with a lapel mic.
