Studio Series 86 Perceptor looks awesome. Very G1 accurate from head to toe. His microscope mode is cool. Kind of wish it was a fully functioning microscope, but I'll live. His third mode on the other hand, as a tank.... sure, it's what the G1 toy did, but it's not interesting enough to promote. Remember for Siege Soundwave, his cybertronian lamppost mode was an easter egg under his figure packaging box flap closure. That's what Hasbro should have been. Have the Perceptor tank mode be an easter egg. Could have been just in the instruction sheet only. Anyways, it's good to see the Autobot scientist again. After his time being a headmaster and Reveal the Shield.
As someone who loved titans return prerceptor, this figure looks unique in my opinion, the robot mod looks great especially the color scheme and the microscope mod looks good not gonna lie,i dont really Care about the tank mod
I'm guessing upgrade kit for back is inevitable, using similar engineering to the Grimlock hand to add a cover that is intstalled into the screwhole below the gap. Also, Inflation SUCKS. That Little Bumblebee is nearly what they were charging for Voyagers last year...
I got this guy on Monday. I was a little underwhelmed at first - especially as it cost me £30 - I think it's more like a £20 figure really. I Hate hollow forearms and the hollow for his head is definitely a let down, but he's grown on me as the week has gone on and he looks great with other SS86 or CHUG figures. This was the first of your reviews I've watched, by the way! Really enjoyed your quick and concise style. Nicely done. Subbed!
He's a pretty fun guy, not amazing, just Nice. In the US he was like 23 or 24 dollars when he came out, so yeah he's a little more than he should be for you. And thank you. Being quick and concise is all I ever wanted to be. I don't want to be one of those guys who sits there and bangs on for an hour, when you need to know NOW weather or not you want this thing.
1:43 not only were you mostly correct, the only thing you got slightly off was one of the repaints was artificially inflated to cost even more than a deluxe thanks to line exclusivity in Shattered Glass. So greed was worse than you imagined. As for Preceptor, too happy with my Tamara Legends one. Passed on this figures. Ended up grabbing Magnificus though. That’s brilliant. As I imagine this to be.
I actually slightly disagree with my self there now. If you stretch the sculpt a bit, and remount her hips higher in her pelvis she looks right. I think they just couldn't figure out how to get her correct proportions into a properly sized motorcycle.
I mean there aren't other problems than that. It could be perfect with a flap there. When I say perfect, I don't mean couldn't be better, I mean doesn't have baked in flaws.
the only reason i dont mind the tank treds is to give the worst and dumbest exsplanation as to why g1 perceptor could drive around while he was in his microscope mode
Just got this figure. Saw it in a Walmart a town away the only things I don't like about him are how his thighs don't lock in, the ball joints in the shoulder, and the hole in his back. I'm just glad to have a good perceptor
Before I saw photos of him with Blaster I was fine mot getting him as I love my Takara Legends Perceptor so much and the SS86 face really didn't do it for me. But when I got him, I ate my words. He's perfect and I love the feel of his plastic. Brilliant figure, especially when put with Blaster
(I characterize my Magnificus as a scientist that used to work at/for the (shady) Cybertronian Institute until he got kicked out/arrested/fired for illegal experimentation regarding mind control, and he also went to the gladiatorial pits to develop his fighting skills. Is also a member of the Mercenary faction, and has a superiority complex.)
(Side note, Soundblaster won't be a Mercenary in THAT timeline/universe, since he's a rebuilt Soundwave who's been reprogrammed to be more obedient after Megatron/Galvatron found out.)
That might happen, he'd be so easy to do, but so far the 86 Figures have only been retooled into their SG counterparts at best. I like your characterization for him.
I'm assuming turn into a robot and walk away. It would also explain why other Cybertronians have cockpits if not every Cybertronian has a mobility enhancement in altmode.
The head sculpt is what puts me off the most; I got burned by SS86-3 Blurr and his fugly mug. I refused to get SS86-2 Kup outright and will continue to hunt down Takara's LG46 Targetmaster Kup. Most others are fine, I guess. But SS86-11 Perceptor...that noggin is off-putting compared to the Titans Return one, despite almost everything else curbstomping the TR into oblivion. Like, I don't wanna get it and end up regretting it like I did with Blurr...except SS86-3 Blurr wasn't really much better than the Titans Return one in the first place; SS86-11 Perceptor is a few steps shy of completely incinerating the Titans Return one... As for the scope? Nope. The scope of SS86-11 doesn't work, neither do the dials. TR had a little bit more function in that the dial on the scope worked and could zoom in and out, but the lenses weren't any better.
Most figures don't have those, even the excessively cheap ones like Kingdom Pipes, where there's no paint, no plastic, and the plastic that is there is cheap as hell. I think it's just that hasbro doesn't see it as a priority.
When I first got this figure I didn't much care for it, I just found it to be pretty bland... But as I fiddled with it more it grew on me and now I really like it! Sometimes it's nice to have a Transformer that takes no effort to transform lol

He looks great, personally I prefer the Titans Return figure in terms of its colors, I just prefer the teal/cyan rather that the sand blue, otherwise he looks like the best Perceptor Hasbro has ever released. Also I wish I could have that Autobot City backdrop as a desktop wallpaper.
Besides the gap in the back, the only thing missing for me is having the arms connect to the microscope assembly in alt mode, but then this is based on the cartoon model where they just plain didn't.
@@PerspectiveEnd I mean the way the arms attach to the base of the lens barrel or not; for the G1 and the Titans Return figures the teal parts of the arms that the dials are mounted/sculpted into attach to the base, while for the cartoon model the arms [seem to] stick up and have the bracket of the lens barrel floating between them, as seems to be the case with the turnaround of the microscope in the video. Definitely not a deal breaker but having the TR Perceptor, I'll have to see if it's worth any markups in shipping or resale...
I finally found Perceptor in the wild today. I always wanted him when I was a kid. Now that I have him...I'm not really that impressed. Also, an hour out of the box, and his face fell off. HIS FACE, FELL OFF!
Wow, I was shocked at how much better the head looks in person, the pictures made it look kinda squashed down, almost like brawn's head with different colors

I don’t remember if you’ve talked about this but apparently the new Target exclusive Perceptor with Ramhorn and Ratbat will be at a voyager price. Would you say that is lazy or fair?
ah man I've had mine sitting in box for a few weeks now and just hadn't had a chance to bust him open and check it out. I think this vid may have bought him up a lil higher in my review schedule
@@PerspectiveEnd it’s a bit of a mixed bag. I do like the first impressions hot take. I got Percy in the same shipment as laser prime and the wave 1 legacy deluxes so there’s a bit of a back log. Or sometimes if I open a fig I never end up gettin round to the review. Like I’ve opened kick back already and havnt shot him but opened laser and immediately started shooting.
As someone who collected as a kid I only got chug figures because the kid lines were stupid simple for me so I always bought chug so the tank mode would have been greatly appreciated
I'm hoping UPS doesn't botch delivery a second time for my copy of Perceptor. "Out for delivery" then suddenly it can't be delivered. if it does happen it'll be a 3:3 on botched deliveries from UPS.
I do think the TR figure had some cool colors, but I feel these ones too my self.
As much as I love SS86 Wreck-Gar, Gnaw, Slag and Grimlock, this has probably become my favorite of the lot.
It's definitely not my favorite Grimlock still holds that title, but this is definitely one of the best ones.
I love this Perceptor.
It's a really really good one.
Besides the gap in the back, the only thing missing for me is having the arms connect to the microscope assembly in alt mode, but then this is based on the cartoon model where they just plain didn't.
What do you mean the arms to connect the microscope assembly? It is connected?
@@PerspectiveEnd I mean the way the arms attach to the base of the lens barrel or not; for the G1 and the Titans Return figures the teal parts of the arms that the dials are mounted/sculpted into attach to the base, while for the cartoon model the arms [seem to] stick up and have the bracket of the lens barrel floating between them, as seems to be the case with the turnaround of the microscope in the video. Definitely not a deal breaker but having the TR Perceptor, I'll have to see if it's worth any markups in shipping or resale...
I didn’t even know he had a tank mode was that ever shown in the show or g1 toy it was a little before my time
It was never in the show but it was on the original toy.
I finally found Perceptor in the wild today. I always wanted him when I was a kid. Now that I have him...I'm not really that impressed. Also, an hour out of the box, and his face fell off. HIS FACE, FELL OFF!
The FUCK? Ho the hell did that happen, I didn't even realize the face was a separate piece? Will it glue back on?
What?
When you said dick a ad popped up so it was like di-WHOPPER WHOPPER
Man I have NEVER seen one of those Whopper commercials, but they are apparently on everyone's feed.
Wow, I was shocked at how much better the head looks in person, the pictures made it look kinda squashed down, almost like brawn's head with different colors
Yeah, it's still a bit off but it's so much better IRL.
Perceptor looks cool
Indeed he do.
My Legacy Bulkhead is a pain in the butt.
Really, why is that?
My local store is so shit at stocking figures they just put out 86 wreck-gar I will probably see this in stores months from now
This is on Hasbro pulse right now.
@@PerspectiveEnd Hasbro pulse is not available where I live
the obvious retool would be someone like Magnificus or Quark. hell even Proxima.
but personally i wanna see him retooled into Xaaron because Xaaron is gold. and i love watching others suffer
So far the 86 Stuff has only been retooled into shattered glass figs, so we will see.
@@PerspectiveEnd indeed.
I believe rumors are circulating of Ss86 hotrod being done up into Override? Overdrive? I can never remember her name
I saw a perceptor in person but didn’t care about him and left him on the shelf and now I regret it BUT I fucking LOVE magnificuis his decepticon version I got at GameStop PLEASE GET MAGNIFICUIS
I mean I have a Perceptor, I'm pretty happy with that arrangement.
I probably enjoy a Magnificus too, but I also like having my money.
@@PerspectiveEnd yes it’s up to you but I highly recommend it thanks for the review though
Great video as always! Seeing that we are getting a override again got me hyped
Wait, when was that confirmed?
@@PerspectiveEnd it was in a leaked velocitron leak listing
I got this guy along with SS Wheeljack in that Walmart 2 pack, and dang this figure is good
Edit: also sticking the gun in the back of the figure helps a lot in covering it up
I didn't know there was a twopack for this guy.
@@PerspectiveEnd apparently there was
Perspective End? More like Preceptor End.
Hah! Goteem.
do you know when's the next devastator toy world review
Hopefully by the end of the month, I got like 6 things to get through and then I want to get at that figure.
I'm super into using his scope as his head. Perscopetor?
Sounds like a generic Drone.
1:21 Ah, another Cliffjumper and Sideswipe I see.
I agree, fantastic figure. Besides of the nothing tank mode, this figure is fantastic in both modes. His robot and microscope mode is fantastic. Anyway, great review.
Hopefully they aren't just the ER versions again.
I was so worried about the clear plastic that they made the chest wnidow, but man I feel much relieved after that experiment of yours.
It's a pretty stout chunk so I think it's fine.
I have a question for you, what toys do you collect other than transformers?
Also what do you play games on, your pc or on a console?
I don't really COLLECT anything other than transformers, I've grabbed some stuff from a few lines that arent TF but I don't collect them.
As for what I play, I play both Console and PC.
3:24 how did you read my mind?
Cause you are that predictable.
I heard it's good but I skipped it twice at the store not attached to the character. And I have limited shelfing
I understand the limited shelfing problem.
Do you only open the things you are about to review? I try to get a sense of everything so the notions about them can mature, and ferment in my mind.
I'm saying like modern kids wouldn't care about the 86 line because it's based on the old show, when they are attached to the movies way more.
Hope you get more subs from ppl soon. If I could subscribe twice, I would. I personally couldn’t care lass about Perceptor, but the figure looks neat
Thank you, and this seems to have worked VERY well.
I kinda what to black out one of his eyes so he looks like his idw appearance
Answer for the question of the video: no, no I don’t
I KNEW IT!
What a great looking figur. Really hoping for a Magnificus version - and a figure of his boyfriend Ga'Mede. It'd fit with his Narcissiwrists.
I'm hoping UPS doesn't botch delivery a second time for my copy of Perceptor. "Out for delivery" then suddenly it can't be delivered. if it does happen it'll be a 3:3 on botched deliveries from UPS. But regardless I'm excited for this, it seems to be exactly what i hoped for and then some. I just want to finally retire my RTS one, its not a bad figure its just doesn't fit in with the 86 shelf super well. that and my copys shoulders like to fall when i look at them wrong.
I've had that happen for weeks before. Where they kept saying they were trying and didn't. I think the driver just couldn't be bothered.
