It's hard to notice since it's obnoxiously tight (if only that tightness was saved for the chest tabs). This is a late comment, but I gotta say I think I came out with one of the far better copies of Legacy Sandstorm. The leg joints are firm, but not difficult to move in any way, and the chest on my copy actually stays on. It doesn’t take too much effort to unplug it, but it doesn’t come unplugged when I’m moving the arms for posing (it might be that the chest pegs on mine are a bit longer, thus allowing for more friction in the plug in ports, I can’t say for certain). Though in regard to the video, the clear winner is definitely the Thrilling 30 one. I still have some pretty good fun with the Legacy copy but, outside of me preferring the faceplate look on the Legacy, the Thrilling 30 is miles better.
Thrilling 30 Sandstorm got me back into collecting. T30 Sandstorm mops the floor with Legacy Sandstorm . A Mad Max dune buggy vs a lame mess. As a g1-er I really like t30 Sandstorm. I like legacys helicopter mode, so I might pick it up if it goes on clearance. Really enjoyed your collab with Dr Lockdown. Thanks.
I can see why it would bring you back too. And you aren't the first person in the comments section of this video to say that was what got you back into the fandom.
Triple changers should take their inspiration from M.A.S.K. That toyline had vehicles transform into secondary battle forms. The second mode was just a reconfigured vehicle mode so they didn't have to compromise the original.

crazy that we never saw an upgrade set for the generations springstorm mold that gave it ankle tilts. its literally the 1 bad thing on that otherwise excellent figure, and 3rdP guys love making sets for everything.
@@PerspectiveEnd Funny enough I was looking for a Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus and by chance I found this seller that had a lot of figures for less then half the normal asking rate. Ended up buying 11 figures from them. They still got a few I want, so might buy them before they're gone.
I have to agree but then again I consider the T30 to be one of the best triple changers ever made so i wasn't expecting the Legacy one to beat it. I did get the Legacy one for about $25 and its pretty good for the price and i do like the helicopter mode a lot. I picked up the T30 around 2020 for $40 so I'm sad it so hard to get for a reasonable price. That said the T30 didnt have the best transformation either. Getting the wheel covers out from dune buggy mode is a pain and i always have trouble with the tail end of the VTOL. As for accessories, i love the T30's Anubis gun. For the Legacy I have issues with the cage in buggy mode but i like having the pistol (I believe its supposed to be a welding gun) as the exhaust in buggy mode and the gun kind of holds in on the other side. I wish the cage had better storage in robot mode but you can kind of put it on the back. Also forgot to mention, the Legacy version stands so much better than the T30 which tends to be top heavy. Overall, I'd say the Legacy on isnt worth the price but for $25-35 its a pretty good figure (I got Tigerhawk for the same price and it was also a good $25 figure but id be upset paying full price).
I have always loved the alt-modes on the T30 sandstorm, and the colors look better in my opinion. While the legacy one will be easier to find, I will with try to hunt down a T30 instead.
@@PerspectiveEnd that is true. But at least there is a fix. I think the fact that the hinge is the fix and not the port means they probably intended for the hinge to be tighter.
1:49- dam. in all my 8 years of living, i’ve never seen a box THAT DAMAGED BEFORE. I understand that the packaging with the window is not good for the environment, but at this point why even make figures of there not going to be handled well.
I always thought Generations Sandstorm looked really cool but I never got around to picking him up as I wasn’t collecting Transformers when he came out. I’m really happy to have a G1 take on the character through the Legacy version since I always loved the Starscream’s Ghost episode as a kid (where’s Octane, Hasbro?) but honestly I kinda wish they had gone full toy-accurate with the head rather than a weird amalgam of toy and cartoon. The designers hinted that we’ll be seeing a fully cartoon accurate head at some point, so I’m especially annoyed that they only went halfway with this first one. It was probably done for the sake of the transformation, but it’s not like the current transformation is so great that it couldn’t have been reworked (they couldn’t have made it that much worse.) And yeah, the chest thing SUCKS.
It is possible to make the chest piece stay in place. I don't fully understand it, but literally lining up the front and the backpack, and a little bit of luck in pressing the chest in for a few minutes should do the trick.
@@PerspectiveEnd well I can at least coinfirm it's true because it at least worked on my copy. There's a TFW2005 thread that covers it more closely. lots of fiddling and stuff so that's totally fair.
i'm planning to grab legacy on a OUTSTANDING DEAL, where you buy this and laser optimus, for the price of one leader this Wheel at the end is making perspective insane btw
They are both terrific. After I bought the newest Sandstorm I had horrible thought that Hasbro is going to redo the head into cartoon accurate. . . . which I love cartoon. . .
if there was no contest then what was the point? this felt less like "which is the best" and more "one is good, one is shit" and thats just not a fair comparison
Everyone is dogpiling Legacy Blitzwing, but honestly I’d give it more credit than this piece of garbage. -Blitzwing has 2/3rds of one alt-mode on his back, Sandstorm has 95% of the helicopter and 10% of the buggy. -Sandstorm has no fun transformations, but one really good alt-mode, Blitzwing has two pretty fun conversions and two alt-modes that each have one glaring flaw. -Blitzwing G1 accurate, so is Sandstorm if you count the toy head as accurate. -Both are about $10 more expensive than they should be, and both are trying to create versions of the (in my opinion) two most difficult Triple-Changers in G1.
Both are valid. One is a great reinterpretation of the character; the other is a 95% accurate version of the toon design that puts his whole ass into his engineering where most other Triple Changers don’t even put half their ass into theirs.
I agree with the chest thing. I hate that. But I grew up with sandstorms (and broadsides) g1 toy. I’m just so happy I can finally have the chug versions even if broadsides sucks. But there’s a fix to a jet mode soo…
Endy, Endy, Endy. You're ignoring a more important question. When will Legacy Sandstorm be retooled/repainted into Blackout? Why else would he have a little cage if not to for the designers anticipating a future reuse and that he'd need a mini Scorponok? Hmmmmmmmmmm?
I managed to pick up him and tiger hawk at the same time for that price, I think they were trying to sell the evolution leaders but someone put those guys out early

Though in regard to the video, the clear winner is definitely the Thrilling 30 one. I still have some pretty good fun with the Legacy copy but, outside of me preferring the faceplate look on the Legacy, the Thrilling 30 is miles better.
Sounds like you got a rare copy indeed.
And yeah even if it didn't have those issues the winner would be the T30.
legacy made me a sandstorm believer and now i need the generations
I think you'll love it.
Generation be careful with the elbows mine snapped off
Yeah the plastic gets really thin there, I've been worried about that for a long time.
@0:55 If this Sandstorm was blue, he could be a Heracross cosplayer.
Gotta Catch'em All!
I kind of see where you are comming from.
My Sandstorms waist isn't hindered at all
Mine barely turns the four bashes in to the backpack.
@@PerspectiveEnd Yeah, for whatever reason I don't have any of the waist problems.
i think your sandstorm's waist is slid forward on the mushroom peg its on
The rims of the tires in helicopters mode for legacy sandstorm are supposed to face the ground
I swear I've gotten them to lay flat the way I had them before, but I couldn't do it on film.
I don't have Sandstorm, but I have the Battletrap repaint of Springer from Botcon and I freaking love that thing.
Triple changers should take their inspiration from M.A.S.K. That toyline had vehicles transform into secondary battle forms. The second mode was just a reconfigured vehicle mode so they didn't have to compromise the original.
I think that would be a cool gimmick for some, but the idea of 1 toy that becomes 2 completely different vehicle modes is really cool.
I think the omnibots got you covered.
Tracks already did that
I literally just put glue on the peg in the chest to make it hold tighter. And it did, for a while. Now it’s loose again
It would have been so easy for them to fix at the factory.
Fun fact thrilling 30s springer is the retool of the mold sandstorm was made first
With how big sandstorms back pack is he’s probably a hiker
Maybe you lost the t30’s blaster in the same portal where Dr lockdown loses all of his when you two did the collab
This guy talks so fast he sounds normal at 0.75. And he’s still talking at great speed!
People sometimes call me Blurr's Holoform.
Personally I love the look of 30's sandstorm better
You should, it's way cooler.
Oh yeah, in every conceivable way
0:57 I'm pretty sure he has a vr kit in said backpack to solve that issue.
1:47 and you are not the obly one. my jolt figure basically got decked in the face so hard I'm shocked it's not damaged.
crazy that we never saw an upgrade set for the generations springstorm mold that gave it ankle tilts. its literally the 1 bad thing on that otherwise excellent figure, and 3rdP guys love making sets for everything.
It would be very hard for them to do that with the way the legs are designed. Not impossible but difficult and potentially brittle.
I miss the what's the best videos, but which is the best is rather fun
I do too, but there's so much of a Backlog, it's hard to get to them.
The new figure would be nice as a Legacy Blackout if they fix the tolerances. Would look nice with a new Barricade
I have seen and the Digibashes, and they do have something to them.
Generations Sandstorm's buggy mode looks right at home in Megarace from Spy Kids 3.
You know you have a point.
I was so happy I got a complete Generations Sandstorm for $25CAD a few days ago on eBay. Better then paying $77CAD for the new one on Amazon.
Damn that's an amazingly good deal! How the hell did you pull that off? Those figures normally go for like 80.
@@PerspectiveEnd Funny enough I was looking for a Combiner Wars Ultra Magnus and by chance I found this seller that had a lot of figures for less then half the normal asking rate. Ended up buying 11 figures from them. They still got a few I want, so might buy them before they're gone.
Legacy blitzwing: the sequel
I wouldn't say this is anywhere near as bad as acting was.
"Eyes more dead than Core Class".... that made me chuckle. Great video as usual, skipping both though.
Thank you so much! And I was pretty proud of that line.
I recently found out that the waste joint on the legacy can slide back so the chest can plug in
Gen Sandstorm looks like he could cause a sandstorm.
Legacy sandstorm looks like he would get blown away by a sandstorm
At voyager price I can agree it would be a lot better.
when I saw this video, I knew damn well that the generations figure would win
I have always loved the alt-modes on the T30 sandstorm, and the colors look better in my opinion. While the legacy one will be easier to find, I will with try to hunt down a T30 instead.
Personally I like the heavier emphasis on the orange of the legacy figure, but that's the only thing I prefer.
@@PerspectiveEnd it’s not bad, but the T30,s orange accents just appeal to me more
I would have suggested adding the scorpion Sandstorm into the review but that would only make the Generations figure look better.
I also didn't buy that thing, because I'm not insane.
You can fix the chest by tightening the hinge connected to the chest plate.
Perhaps, but you shouldn't have to FIX a 50 dollar new figure.
@@PerspectiveEnd that is true.
But at least there is a fix.
I think the fact that the hinge is the fix and not the port means they probably intended for the hinge to be tighter.
God I need the generations figure haha. This sold me on the idea of hunting the old guy down 😁
I expect you will love it.
Good luck with your search and with your diet, you'll be cutting the grocery budget for at least six months to cover one in good condition
1:49- dam. in all my 8 years of living, i’ve never seen a box THAT DAMAGED BEFORE. I understand that the packaging with the window is not good for the environment, but at this point why even make figures of there not going to be handled well.
I've seen boxes more damaged, but not many.
I wonder if the more accurate hand is going to wind up in like a comic colors box?
6:21 it bugs me so much that the wheels aren't transformed correctly there
They won't go down. They just sit up like that no matter what i do.
@@PerspectiveEnd the wheels are supposed to face outwards, there should be a tab on the suspension that goes into the legs
The new guys waist can slide forward to give more movement in the leg and waist rotation
Great review! Now I know to save my money if I ever see this figure. With Transformers last few months its been easy.
The are probably coming out with a More Animation Accurate one, and that one will probably have a fixed chest.
It is possible to make the chest piece stay in place. I don't fully understand it, but literally lining up the front and the backpack, and a little bit of luck in pressing the chest in for a few minutes should do the trick.
Even if that's true, a Few Minutes is beyond the pale. The piece should just Go.
@@PerspectiveEnd well I can at least coinfirm it's true because it at least worked on my copy. There's a TFW2005 thread that covers it more closely. lots of fiddling and stuff so that's totally fair.
I will always accept Generations Springer glazing
What's funny is I don't like generations springer half as much as I like sandstorm.
i'm planning to grab legacy on a OUTSTANDING DEAL, where you buy this and laser optimus, for the price of one leader
this Wheel at the end is making perspective insane btw
They are both terrific. After I bought the newest Sandstorm I had horrible thought that Hasbro is going to redo the head into cartoon accurate. . . . which I love cartoon. . .
They probably will, and they will probably fix the chest while they are at it.
@@PerspectiveEnd I'll wish I would have waited. . . just for the cartoon accurate one . . . and for the fixed chest. For the price . . .
if there was no contest then what was the point? this felt less like "which is the best" and more "one is good, one is shit" and thats just not a fair comparison
Legacy sandstorm is such a mixed bag for others
Does that mean that you like it a lot?
Late to commenting but i do not have sandstorm, but i feel like it’s good
Yeah Sandstorm! I just did my review on him, Great Figure! I Love that Thing so Much
Everyone is dogpiling Legacy Blitzwing, but honestly I’d give it more credit than this piece of garbage.
For sure this is infinitely better than at legacy Blitzwing, don't misunderstand me.
Both are valid. One is a great reinterpretation of the character; the other is a 95% accurate version of the toon design that puts his whole ass into his engineering where most other Triple Changers don’t even put half their ass into theirs.
Nice review
Thank you so much!
I agree with the chest thing. I hate that. But I grew up with sandstorms (and broadsides) g1 toy. I’m just so happy I can finally have the chug versions even if broadsides sucks. But there’s a fix to a jet mode soo…
Are you talking about the TR Broadside, because yeah he's kind of awful.
Have the T30, love it. Saw the Legacy one and thought of getting it but G1 accuracy or otherwise it doesn't appeal to me.
Yeah I'd say that you are find to stick with just the one you have.
In what way will a small Scorponok function as a cage?
Fun fact, did you know Nick Roche helped design Generations Sandstorm?
I wasn't going to get the legacy sandstorm but my local target had the new leader class transformers on sale for like $35
That's a much better price for this thing.
I managed to pick up him and tiger hawk at the same time for that price, I think they were trying to sell the evolution leaders but someone put those guys out early
I knew you’d go for the Generations one.
Got both figures and, while I like the new one more than you seem to do, yeah…
The old one is Godly.
Like I said, it ain't even fair to compare the two.
I knew you would like generations one more❤😊
Good call!
(Dr.lockdown vid) Never thought in a debate you'd be the positive guy, but hey i like to suprised
As always, I'm more positive than people think.
If you've seen the back kibble podcast perspective explains that negativity is the first thing that comes to mind in something like "oh this is great this part sucks, this part sucks, this part sucks and this part sucks"
