Enzo went crazy because of the name, so does the Laferrari, F50 had a F1 derived V12 engine. F80 might have a LMPH derived engine however it’s still a V6 for $5m at the end of the day, plus it wasn’t designed by Pinninfarina, so it’s safe to say that it’s not going to be as desirable as some of the other Ferrari Hypercars.
@@thegentlemansgarage_ Tourbillion's engine also revs higher than the F80 (9200rpm vs 9500) despite being an 8.3L V16 compared to a 3L V6 for the Ferrari
The MSRP is wild considering the Laferrari had an MSRP of $1.4m but I think they priced the F80 based on the fact that Laferrari's start at $4.25m on the secondary market. Ferrari didn't want to leave money on the table
1:39 Valkyrie looking like it shouldn't be road legal is the best complement you could give, and half the reason F80 is so underwhelming. Put a GT-R badge on the F80 no one would doubt you if you said it was built by Nissan.
It is funny how the SP3 looks so good at the same time as the F80 looks so bad, Ferrari doesn't "need" Pininfarina, but they sure would have been a big help.
I've never been a huge Ferrari person with their customer requirements etc and their halo cars. To me Ferrari has always prioritized design over performance and actual technology in their halo cars and since the F40 it's generally throw a V12 in it and put most of the effort into the design and say it's the best but try to control any tests or customer comparisons to other cars. The F80 is the first Ferrari halo car since the F40 that looks truly ambitious and loaded with technology. It's funny how they always say it has F1 technology when I'm reality it has just as much and probably more Le Mans WEC Hypercar technology than F1. It's pretty amazing that they're able to create a triple element front wing and have a keel like an F1 car etc. Effective and powerful outwash behind the front wheels. Electrically spooled turbos from F1. Awd and this thing is a rocket around a racetrack and on the street. It looks very wide and low making it look even wider giving it a menacing look. The NACA ducts on the upper sides that look like cut outs of the skin that only look cooler as you see the different air channels in and around them. I think the F80 will end up being the car that marks the point in time of a fully revolutionized Ferrari company in what their goals are in how they design their cars from here on out. It will be the car to have.
To respond to the last question, If I've got 4 million to spend on a car, I would go with the Pagani Zonda Cinque. I know the V12 in the car is old, but sometimes old is better. The sound from that V12 is the symphony from heaven for me.
Considering that the W1 has similar build and drive train tech, is being built in smaller numbers at half the price of the F80, it's safe to say that Ferrari is absolutely gouging its customers! What this means is that Ferrari in essence, killed off any potential for the car to appreciate much in the near future and cashed in on it at the same time. I truly dont see these things fetching over list for quite some with an MSRP of 4 Million.
Ferrari built a monster track car that's all.... Remember when Senna came out? Everyone hated the design even though it was based on aero and down force just like this one. Everyone loves the Senna now lol
@@michaeltrumph121 I bet it has better design and engine than your car 🤣 Don’t hate the fact that they based it on going fast, not your personal taste 😂
Ferrari is not a niche but a major exotic manufacturer, so I guess people at Ferrari can't do whatever they want to do with the product like some smaller makers like Pagani and Gordon Murray. F80 has to be a forward-looking product and apparently, EV is the future. So they eventually used a V6 hybrid powertrain, which is not only faster, but also shows that Ferrari is a responsible company. Given the value of those limited edition Ferraris, customers who got the allocation will definitely buy the car, but probably not because they really love the car, but because it is an excellent investment product.
Hey Mr. Florey, I’m from Kingwood and have always been a fan of your cars. Growing up anytime I saw any of your cars I instantly knew it was yours based on the spec. Simple. Real customers with money on the line to buy it, are they extremely upset that they didn’t get an allocation? If so, why? Since this isn’t an inspirational or aspirational car, just a “low” volume “special” edition car, are they upset because of the potential lost profit? Or because they love it so much and would love to own one? They are all that matter, because they will dictate the second-hand market, not the general public. The public’s response is very clear. Some like the design and the fact that it has cool racing technology. Most hate the design and the fact that it doesn’t have a V12. Probably no one is putting a poster of this car on their wall and dreaming that maybe one day with a lot of hard work and a lot of luck they might be able to buy one, or drive it at Le Mans. If people stop dreaming about a brand, will they maintain the value of their brand? If all cars from now on are hybrids and EVs, I don’t think they will. And I think that could actually hurt the prices of older, high-volume models, because the brand in general becomes less desirable. This was a huge failure for Ferrari, but maybe they knew that already. So they're making as many as they can, charging as much as they can, making as much money as possible, because they know that the next one will be an EV and it will be a very tough sell, and it will probably be in extremely low volume because that's the only way to convince buyers that it will have any value.
better to consider the Bug Tourbillion or W1 as they are rarer. 799 F80+ Aperta numbers seems ridiculous but I guess those with allocation had no choice unless you are willing to lose that A-list priority status from Ferrari
Given how close you are to completing the set with an allocation for the 6th in the series you’ve got to go for it. Even if you have to liquidate some of the other cars in the collection it has to be the goal now, right🤷🏻♂️

Congrats on the F80 allocation. As a VIP collector with an SF90 XX coming, I’m a bit worried about the value proposition of Ferrari hybrids long term. The F80 is destined to be a timeless classic just like the Bugatti EB110 and the Veyron which were also heavily criticized for their looks during their respective eras.
That’s what I keep saying, yes it’s not a V12 but it is the pinnacle of the performance currently available and that’s what a flagship is supposed to be.
@@diemes5463 It actually was. Alot of people disliked the first Veyron. I too didn't. But that opinion changed when the 16.4 and later versions rolled out.
As soon as Chiron came out I don't think anyone stuck to the opinion of Veyron being a good looking car. The problem with F80 is we have a plethora of amazing looking cars to compare with that are also a superior product.
I think just like every Ferrari hypercar before it, because its in that category, this thing will eventually be lusted after and will be worth many times its original price, despite the V6 engine which many people are disappointed about at this time
Racing first concept aside, the powertrain is a fail. the W1 is more aligned with the concept to pull technology forward while blending the enthusiast/buyers desire for a fully immersive driving experience. Ultimately a sad day as it points to a future for performance vehicles that exclude the driver.
You can really REALLY tell Pininfarina doesn't design cars for them anymore the art, beauty, still with the performance is gone long gone. Ferrari is solely only still around because of their name and thats IT!
With hose diagonal rear wing supports, they could almost have make it an unspung wing. Mounted straight to the rear wheel uprights, so the downforce bypasses the chassis, doesn't load the suspension, directly presses the wheels to the ground. With less downforce through the chassis, spring loads can be kept lower.
I like the F80. Just wish the rear spoiler stayed down when not racing it. It looks like a countach from the back with the spoiler fully extended. But I get it, it’s the shock factor yet it will age well. Don’t like the looks, just give it some time.
I like the F80. McLaren W1 looks like their other recent offerings but F80 looks like nothing else. It took a bit time to get used to but I'm really starting to like it. And I really love the fact that it has that racing engine.
Ferrari has MASTERED the game of FOMO. Ferrari collectors are so afraid of being pushed out of Ferrari's VIP list that they will just accept ANYTHING that Ferrari throw at them, which includes drastically downsizing their historic flagship V12 to V6 (don't really care if it is a LM winning V6, still a V6), doubling the production numbers, which makes it less desirable, and charging twice the money for it!! Ferrari has turned their collectors into slaves really. With so many exciting alternatives available today, it just doesn't make any sense for me... I am really sorry. Even the seating configuration isn't new, VW has used it in their XL1 model from 2011. I can see the car meetings of the future full of Ferrari collectors having 40 minutes conversations just to justify why they have spent $1 million on "entry cars" they didn't want, to get a $4 million car they are not excited about. Just like you said in the video, Ferrari just care about their racing teams: let's build a Lego-looking car, with the technology we have been using for the past 3 or 4 years, produce twice as many car and charge double for them, and have our VIP collectors pay for some of Lewis Hamilton's contract for the next F1 season. Man, I really like your channel and your content, but I am just tired of Ferrari's bullshit! If you have to justify it, you should not buy it, but that is what I believe. The California, Portafino and the Roma get the entry level wrap as if they are a lesser Ferrari. It’s a f’n Ferrari! Excellent work on bring light to these aspects! Secondly, for 4 million dollars I’d have to go for the 288 GTO before the F 80 only due to the fact that that car will continue to do nothing but increase in value whereas the F80 will be questionable in the beginning and eventually will catch on later on down the line. In between that time they will depreciate some and that will be the time to pounce. I really do appreciate what you bring to the space. Keep up the good work and I look forward to your next upload. From one Ferrari lover to another can you please feature a Mondial on your channel so it can get some of the light it so dearly deserves. A Ferrari is a whole different driving experience from any other vehicle on the planet and I’m so fortunate to say I’m a custodian and master technician of such a machine.
Ferrari's biggest problem with the F80 is Cosworth; at the price they're asking you can get a T50, Valkyrie or Tourbillion, all of which have a unique engine that's naturally aspirated and all of them rev higher than the F80 despite the F80's engine being the smallest. The F80 does not have a unique engine, it comes from the much cheaper 296 (the 499 uses a modified 296 engine; you're welcome Ferrari apologists).
Ferrari doesn't want Cosworth developing their engines. Sure engineers could build something similar but they are not funding such. Both T50 and Valkyrie are not street legal in US. Only T33 has met all US standards. T50 and T33 displacement are inline with W1. If Ferrari built F80 with large V12 production would be limited like Valkyrie at 150 and T50(T33) at 100. Would not be street legal in every country. Prices would through the roof. They can still build special projects off F80 chassis with a V12. If a FXX V6 TT track model is done that's when exhaust might sound better. Even the designer moved on from Valkyrie V12 with a 4.5L V10.
Design wise, they should have made the black line an option. Price wise they are just testing how much you guys are willing to pay. Concidering overproduction of about 20% there will be around 1000 coupes plus 600 apertas which is a tough pill to swallow for the loyal customers paying upwards of 4.5 mil for this
I think you and the Mrs would enjoy the Enzo. It seems to be a good reliable tourer relative to the segment, build quality, sound and safety would be miles ahead of the 288. Call Jon lol Looking forward to the watch episode
I think Mclaren have got the balance right with the numbers being built and the price, the numbers of the F80 just don't make it as exclusive a car as the previous cars have been.
W1 hands down is the prettiest and most appealing to the bunch. I get why the latest Lambo and even the F80 look like they were designed like un-elegant, cold, and harsh-lined machines, they are completely function over form. The W1 has form to it with function. For me, this round goes to McLaren until we see Porsche's offering. I agree though, the "Holy Trinity" was cute ten years ago, but it was never in place prior, and can't be in place today. Too many offerings. Not sure why it has been brought back again?!
I wouldn't bother with 288, unless you are dead set on completing a list. Enzo will come to be more appreciated in the next 10 years. Cant speak to driving characteristics of either one obviously, but Enzo looks and sounds miles better
I’ll come back to this in a few years to see if I’m wrong, but I think that the point of a hyper car isn’t for a the sound or styling but for the performance it brings and bringing the pinnacle of it to the road. So yeah we are going to lose the V12 and the sound but they will bring us the pinnacle of engineering.
The Hypercar Holy Trinity of the 2020's doesn't include any of the past brands, not Ferrari, not McLaren, not Porsche. Valkyrie is #1, Gemera is #2 (most powerful road car ever made), and #3 would have to be the T.50 but it could just as easily be Tourbillon. You get your ultimate track car, ultimate hybrid muscle, and the T.50 and Tourbillon both give the ultimate in prestigious driving machines.
Mission X is the weird one that I'm not sure about. It's almost like they spent too much time developing it and now it's no longer relevant. Just put a hybrid V10 in the Mission X and call it a day.
For 4 million 💰, I'd get a Revuelto & also twin turbo it with an exhaust tune from UGR. Then I'd get an Urus SE to compliment it. Btw, I feel the SP3 is better than the F80..
Louis, I’m feeling very good about my Pista and 458. I’m swapping my 458 Italia for a 458 Speciale because having both the Pista and Speciale in my garage feels right! I recently drove in an SF90 and it was insanely fast. But I’d absolutely opt for the SF90XX. It looks better and it will be limited. As for you, I’d probably grab the 288 GTO first - because there were only 272 of those and the supply-demand proposition suggests that they will go up in price faster than the Enzo. So, if you’re not grabbing both at the same time, it makes sense to grab the 288 GTO first. Finally, I plan to come up to your place and see your collection in person. You and I have a mutual friend. Ferrari sell 799s F80 because they can do it....Ferrari has a history like no other brand has. Is the car ugly? Yes. Does the car have an engine that sounds like a vacuum cleaner? Yes it does. This is a car for the track, not for top speeds and astronomical starts like Buggatti, Reveras, Teslas, etc... It's just a fast car with fun driving, as has been the case with all of the brand's latest creations... .Personally I think that an engine of just 3.0l is too small to compete against its equal peers and the final power value is not very ambitious and therefore it has a weight/power ratio that is not very favorable... the real rivalry It's called McLaren and Porsche, and they should accelerate better from 200-300 km/h, that's what matters on the track and I think the Italian brand failed there. They should have picked the SF90 engine.
Congratulations on the car again. Having being a fan of Ferrari since I was a little kid growing in the 90’s the F80 might be the latest in technology, there’s no doubt about it. But for most people Ferrari has also been related to producing some of the most beautiful cars ever made. My humble opinion is that they failed with the F80. As for what car you should get. Enzo is a must, it’s absolutely beautiful and as time goes by prices keep going up and up. Now, the Daytona SP3… for me that’s the true member of the “big 6” if I were you I would definitely consider getting one of those. And the 288 GT0…. John can definitely help you with that haha
I believe Ferrari are holding approximately 200 of the units back … their excuse is that they are for ‘future’ top clients ! In anyone else’s world it would mean ‘we can’t seem to sell them all’ ._
The resale market and customer interest will tell. If it's a success and customers ask for it, maybe. If not, they'll definitely find a way to bring back the V12 in their next supercar. I don't see how they'll justify another supercar with a V6, let alone a full EV. Aston Martin did it with the new Vanquish, an almost completely new V12. MB is bringing back the V8. Porsche is keeping the GT3 pure. Where there's a will, and money, there is a way.
What’s the limit of how small an engine will go v6 in a Ford GT, now the flagship Ferrari F80. It was o.k. For the Nissan GTR. Not for flagship super cars. Is a 4 cylinder going to be next. They already have a 3 cylinder koinegsegg
Definitely get the 288GTO. I see the value of the Enzo from a collection standpoint, but still feel Maserati did the better design with the MC12. I’ll go with your “in-person” perspective on the F80. Finally, if it was me, I’d go with an SP3 Daytona over the Enzo. But that’s a personal call.
The production number of 799 and the price simply don’t add up. Plus, it’s clear they’ll eventually release an Aperta model; not mentioning it now is just a marketing tactic to drive sales for this version. Ferrari doing Ferrari things, IMO.
Ferrari is technology AND art: Like art, it has to upset its audience sometimes to make progress, to advance the narrative and the technology. Some cars are designed to be easy to like (Roma, Icona series), some are designed to push the envelope, both, in technology and in how we think about car design. The latter is the role of the F40, Enzo, LaFerrari, F80. If people understood it today, would it be progress?

The MSRP is wild considering the Laferrari had an MSRP of $1.4m but I think they priced the F80 based on the fact that Laferrari's start at $4.25m on the secondary market. Ferrari didn't want to leave money on the table
Its what they can get away with. All were allocated and sold. Billions in overcharging
1:39 Valkyrie looking like it shouldn't be road legal is the best complement you could give, and half the reason F80 is so underwhelming.
Put a GT-R badge on the F80 no one would doubt you if you said it was built by Nissan.
Ferrari needs to go back to Pininfarina to do it's design, Manzoni messed this right up
Agreed. He's kind of in over his head. All he has is these retro-futurist designs and they're not really working.
Pininfarina is dead mate the pininfarina were looking at is owned by mahindra now.
It is funny how the SP3 looks so good at the same time as the F80 looks so bad, Ferrari doesn't "need" Pininfarina, but they sure would have been a big help.
He designed the Laferrari
The only guy who can sit and talk while holding my attention till the end, watch you blow up big before this time next year
To respond to the last question, If I've got 4 million to spend on a car, I would go with the Pagani Zonda Cinque. I know the V12 in the car is old, but sometimes old is better. The sound from that V12 is the symphony from heaven for me.
Excellent choice!
Are you aware that any zonda is 9 mil+ right now and Cinque are nearly 20mil

Considering that the W1 has similar build and drive train tech, is being built in smaller numbers at half the price of the F80, it's safe to say that Ferrari is absolutely gouging its customers! What this means is that Ferrari in essence, killed off any potential for the car to appreciate much in the near future and cashed in on it at the same time. I truly dont see these things fetching over list for quite some with an MSRP of 4 Million.
Ferrari built a monster track car that's all....

Hey there! I use to be your advisor at the local Ferrari Dealer. Crazy to see your collection on video. Can’t wait for your F80!
Awesome! Thank you!

So they're making as many as they can, charging as much as they can, making as much money as possible, because they know that the next one will be an EV and it will be a very tough sell, and it will probably be in extremely low volume because that's the only way to convince buyers that it will have any value.
well put, Sir.
better to consider the Bug Tourbillion or W1 as they are rarer. 799 F80+ Aperta numbers seems ridiculous but I guess those with allocation had no choice unless you are willing to lose that A-list priority status from Ferrari
Tourbillon is really talking to me! lol.
Given how close you are to completing the set with an allocation for the 6th in the series you’ve got to go for it. Even if you have to liquidate some of the other cars in the collection it has to be the goal now, right🤷🏻♂️

Two things about the new F80: one is the engine and drivetrain and the second is the design. They missed the target...
Congrats on your allocation, cant wait to see your spec. Different looking Ferrari most people describe it, why is everyone afraid to call it ugly?
When F80 become a classic, it will sit at the table with McLaren Senna. Too bad the Senna wasn't taken on lap attacks too much.
vs. the W1: Less hp, more weight, 4WD, 2x the cost, 2x the production units... and yeah, the V6.
P.S. You @ 3:35 onward sound like me when I was trying to defend the Senna!
I still say the Senna is the best car McLaren has made since the F1.
Senna is a car with a mission, everything else feels confused in comparison.
@@budthecyborg4575 I agree 100%. But McLaren failed miserably on the marketing (no official Ring lap time for a car designed only for lap times) and many were sold to speculators/flippers. It's the only "hyper car" to not gain value in the history of hyper cars. That's saying something.
@@frankcarbone7642 They only made 500 of them so I can't call it over produced.

The problem was the marketing and speculator buyers.
@@frankcarbone7642 Quick search shows the cheapest Senna sold was $825K, I guess that is fairly steep depreciation but all I can think is how much I wish I had $825K right now.

The Veyron was never considered ugly
@@diemes5463 It actually was. Alot of people disliked the first Veyron. I too didn't. But that opinion changed when the 16.4 and later versions rolled out.
@@diemes5463 I still think its ugly 😂
Good POVs, thank you. It might have made more sense of the design followed the Le Mans winning car more.
If I had $4m to buy a car I would be looking for an F40LM, although im not sure thats enough to get one of those?
I really appreciate everything that you had to say about not only the F80 but the other Ferrari’s in the current line up. You really bring the light the value in the Roma which is under appreciated as is my Mondial 3.2 cabriolet.
Did you ever consider Gordan Murray's T50 and T33?
Incredible collection! Personally I would choose the W1 over the F80 due to looks, but that's just personal opinion. Congrats on you allocation.
Many thanks.
Good point!
Concidering overproduction of about 20% there will be around 1000 coupes plus 600 apertas which is a tough pill to swallow for the loyal customers paying upwards of 4.5 mil for this
SF90 xx looks amazing. Personally, I think the W1 looks awesome too. Maybe the F80 will grow on me.
An Enzo is way sicker the the f80.
799 cars at $4 mill with an aperta coming later for sure, not a good investment. It will make LaFerrari more expensive for sure.
I have a feeling after the f-80 releases..... People are going to miss the LaFerrari vibes.
I think you and the Mrs would enjoy the Enzo. It seems to be a good reliable tourer relative to the segment, build quality, sound and safety would be miles ahead of the 288. Call Jon lol
Looking forward to the watch episode
Great advice! lol.
I think Mclaren have got the balance right with the numbers being built and the price, the numbers of the F80 just don't make it as exclusive a car as the previous cars have been.
It's an amazing car! This is my first time seeing it and i love it. But i love Ferraris.
Thinking outside the box. Might i suggest homologated 911 GT1 (Tuthill variant should the other be unavailable) 935, 995, or possibly a 904/6.
Porsche makes a solid product!
Great clickbait title and love the Patek Philippe
The Hypercar Holy Trinity of the 2020's doesn't include any of the past brands, not Ferrari, not McLaren, not Porsche.
Valkyrie is #1, Gemera is #2 (most powerful road car ever made), and #3 would have to be the T.50 but it could just as easily be Tourbillon. You get your ultimate track car, ultimate hybrid muscle, and the T.50 and Tourbillon both give the ultimate in prestigious driving machines.
100%
Mission X is the weird one that I'm not sure about. It's almost like they spent too much time developing it and now it's no longer relevant. Just put a hybrid V10 in the Mission X and call it a day.
Finally, someone i can respect their opinion on the F80 , congratulations on the allocation .
both 288 and Enzo are 🔥🔥🔥. Looking at your collection I'd get the 288 1st.
Can I be honest I feel like the F8 is a step backwards from the SP3 Daytona.
He needs to call you and arrange it!

I feel the AMG1 has busted down the door into the holy trinity
Would you ever consider a hypercar from another brand?
For sure. Love so many of the cars today.
You are really good on camera, your channel will blow up quick. 👌
Thank you very much!
Very good points!
I would hold out for the SP4
I am currently also trying to complete the big six collection…in 1:18 scale 😂
The SP3 is the proper continuation of the La Ferrari series imo
What’s the limit of how small an engine will go v6 in a Ford GT, now the flagship Ferrari F80. It was o.k. For the Nissan GTR. Not for flagship super cars. Is a 4 cylinder going to be next. They already have a 3 cylinder koinegsegg
I hope you drive the new Vanquish
I’m hoping so too!

I appreciate that!
Your collection is amazing but in time you need to add a 288 and a Enzo ( easy to say when its someone else cash 😂)
Thank you and totally agree!
Would you possibly be interested in sharing your watch collection as well? Nice Nautilus.
Thank you. Yes, we are starting to work on watch content as well. Coming VERY soon!
