Leaning towards something in the a6000 range of price im no expert on this but from what i have seen looks promising no idea what lenses would work well for portraits model photography and such guidance would be appreciated

after a long period of testing and trying out cameras and lens, eventually I chose to stick with Rx100m3 and Dji pocket 3 addon. For leisure travelling memories making and printing in maximum A3 size. I value maximum compactness over quality.

Always good content. Be careful of the lack of heat dissipation on the A6000 series of cameras. If you are doing in any long form, just be careful.
I’ve had my a6400 since release date. I love it & It’s amazing. I have an 85mm prime lens & a 16mm sigma prime. My next camera is definitely going to be the A6700.

@@AzzaYCF Hey, maybe not exactly the response you are looking for, but I have a bunch of lenses that I bought new. If I decide to sell them now - I understand if people would be weary about buying them. However, I can tell you, that they hold up incrediby nice. All my sony (and sigma) lenses are working as it did staight out of the box, with about 3-4 years of usage. If the glass is not damaged and the focus works - go for it. Just make sure you can test them. :)
You've done a great job in this video. You've helped me narrow down my choices for a new camera for my channel. I currently use either my iPhone or my GoPro10 for videos' and need to upgrade!

Another great video -- thank you! I'm an old-school Sony shooter. My photography cameras are A99-II's (SLTs). Yep - discontinued, and I bought an additional body simply because I really love this camera and have a HEAVY investment in Sony Zeiss & G-Master A-Mount glass. But, one thing about the A99-II it's horrible at video. 4 years ago I bought my first A6400, just to handle the video for my channel and when I'm on a shoot. Since then, I've added another A6400 (price dropped in 2023 when the A6700 came out).
The A6400 is a hidden gem! I added the Sigma 56mm, which is basically an 85mm equivalent to a full frame sensor. I recently added the Sony 18-135, and I'm really loving this lens. I have captured some amazing photos with my A6400s -- so much so, that while I do agree it's THE best starter camera, it's also strong enough to hold it's own as part of a kit for seasoned shooters too. The battery life is suspect - but otherwise, the camera rocks. I put both of mine in cages, which moves the mic holder to the side so that if I flip the screen up there's no obstructions.
Being able to shoot 4K video for Podcasts and interviews is HUGE. I don't worry about the lack of IBIS because my lenses have it -- and, I use the Zhiyun Crane-2 gimbal, which is perfect for the Sony A6400. But people shouldn't sleep on just how good of a photography camera the A6400 is as well. Have you done a review/recommendation video on the best lenses for the A6400? I'd love to see that. In 2024, I'm adding a couple more Sony APSC lenses to my kit.

Sony A6400 was my choice as my first camera, I think you made the best recommendation, it has been fantastic I will never get rid of it I love it too much
I have the a6100 as my first and then got a a7r2 as a portrait/high res picture/full frame camera! I LOVE my 6100, it’s fast and captures phenomenal pictures with the right lens. I’ll use it as a backup camera for as long as it functions!

I started off with the a6000 and then used the a6500 until the a6700 debuted. All the meaningful upgrades in the a6700 are worth the extra $$$.

Hey I want to photograph formula 1 with panning shots. I im not sure whether to get the 70-350 or the tamron 70-180 mk1. And I dont know what body to go with.
I bought the a6000 in 2021 brand new, in fact it's the only camera I've got. Paired it with two great lenses like Sigma 56 mm f1.4 and the Sigma 18-50 mm f2.8 and what can I say is that I am more than satisfied! I use the a6000 only for photography.

@@dianmatu Sigma 56 mm f1.4 in my opinion it is one of the best portrait lenses for apsc, if you want to shoot portraits you won't be disappointed with this lens.
Latley, I've use the 18-50 more often because of its convenience, but when I shoot portraits or concerts or want to take night photography, the 56 mm it's my go to lens!

i think the big battery NP-FZ100 was introduced with the never mentioned a6600.
Im very unsure if I should buy the zve 10 or the 6400 because I know that I'm mostly gonna take photos but I don't think a viewfinder is important but I think the flip out screen is and also the zve 10 is 100 bucks cheaper in my country
I have the zve10 and use it mostly for video, but it is a very good photo camera as well. Very compact. You don’t have a mode dial, but you get all the equivalent options from a switch. I shoot photos in aperture priority mostly, if the environment demands another mode, it is probably specialist, like dance shows, and I’ll use my Canon R6. For what you save over the a6400, you can get an EVF, on an a6000. That’s what I’d did and very happy with it.
I used to shoot a Nikon years ago, but in recent years moved to a Olympus TG, since I mostly shoot underwater. But I missed manual control so much! I just purchased the a6400. Definitely getting the sigma 16mm and the 50mm macro. Everything just costs twice as much to take underwater though. 😅

all you need is sigma trio and sigma zoom for travel.
I am currently using the A6000. I'm considering whether to switch to the A6700 or the A7C II. I really like the form factor of APS-C cameras, as they are not as conspicuous as the larger ones.
Then the main question is, full frame or apsc? Both cameras are small and Light weight
currently i have only 2 APS-C Sigma Lenses, the 30mm and 56mm DC. I think ill go with that guy you talking about in the Video. For now i can use the a7cII in crop mode and my aps-c lenses, and step by step i can switch to one or two full-frame lenses.. does this makes sense? :D @@thaticelandicguy

I bought a Panasonic s5 ii. Its a really good camera and both the videos and pictures are amazing up to 26k iso.
The only downside is that the lenses are stupidly expensive.

The Sony A7C II is very compelling, especially for first time or beginner photographers wanting a camera they can grow with. It is an excellent hybrid (photo + video) camera - with only minor compromises. The main gotcha would be the C-series cameras are small like the APS-C line (A6000s) - so that might be a problem with folks with large hands. If you can go buy a camera or technology store to hold one in your hands before ordering. Released at the same time would be the A7CR - which is a travel/hobby version of the A7R V - which is a megapixel beast. If all you care about is landscape and portraits - that is worth a look, but it's nearly $3k - you gotta _really_ want the 61mp sensor. This was the camera I was going to get, but then the full A7R V went on sale - it was a birthday present to myself (for the next decade - lol).
Of course, for beginners not sure if photography is right for them, they should consider buying a used camera from a known local camera shop or online certified refurb/renewed. Any of the Sony cameras mentioned will be fine - although I would lean towards the full-frame cameras myself. In fact, I would rather someone buy a used full-frame camera over a new APS-C camera. You could also see if a friend/relative has a spare camera they aren't using anymore.

I think the only ones to really go for are the A6700 and the A7iv. Those two will do nearly anything you want as a beginner. And if you just need to get something cheaper. A used A6400 is the go to.

Sony makes it so hard nowadays to pick a camera after all these crazy releases. But I agree with your choice. Since the a6700 was released the used price of the a6400 is dropping, making it a nice low budget option to get a nice kit with a few primes well under 1k.
Unfortunately I couldn't resist my camera purchase and got the ZVE1, because after all the sale, cashback etc. it is the price of the a6700 which I will pay :)

How did you get it to the same price as the a6700?
I'm in the same boat. I bought a DJI Pocket 3 but I'm looking to buy a DSLR camera for recording A-rolls, and it's a nightmare. Sony A7v is way too expensive (and not for vloggers apparently). On the other side of the spectrum, Sony ZV1 and A6700 seem too cheap and less performant than my Pocket 3. A7s3 is too old, A7R ivA is not for vloggers. A7C2 seems like the best compromise but comes with many downsides (obsolete VF and flip screens), not sure it will retain a good price tag when reselling in a few years.
I feel like I should wait for a potential A7S iv?
I actually bought the sony zve10 quite 2 years ago and I'm happy with it overall, but there are a few cons as you talked about earlier, and that's why I am thinking of switching to the A6700 would you say it's worth it?

Probably the biggest rival between two cameras are the a6400 and the zv-e10, i still dont know what is better because there all good there in Intended purpose, so i just got a sony 7s3. Really good video (love gingers) 😏

@@josechavez7148 if you want something fast and easy to use while on a budget, Sony zve 10 is a really good choice. If you want something a little high end you can look towards the Sony zve 1 which it's more new (getting released last year). Or there is the Sony a7s3 which is one of the top lines. All of the cameras use E mount which is universal to all modern Sony cameras. I would recommend for you the Sony zve 10 because it's very user friendly and the cheapest alternative while still being very good. If you want more info of any of the cameras you can look up the specs or you can go to creators (that Icelantic guy) and ask them

It has the same sensor and specs. It’s just upgraded with some better AF and some other minor things. Plus is vari angle lcd screen. But it lacks a VF. So it’s up to you imo ☺️
I'm getting asked what I'd recommend all the time, but I'm having a hard time suggesting the bodies without IBIS. You have to use OSs lenses, the video is otherwise unusable without post production.
That hurts cause I know the 6400 (and others) are otherwise such good cameras

some thing that I want to ad is that if you're going to buy used camera bodies then try to get ones that were made within the past 3-4 years. now that the a6700 has been out for a bit and everybody is starting to upgrade, the a6400 is right at that sweet spot where its still a very capable camera but you can get it for a decent price. hell, im trying to sell mine right now.
for lenses I'd say get 1 or 2 really good lenses right off the bat. I made the mistake of getting like half a dozen really cheap lenses and after i got some good ones i now realize how much of a waste of money it was. for aps-c i recomend the tamron 17-70mm and the sony 70-350 G oss.

the Sony ZVE10 not having a Viewfinder is such a pain. it struggles in low light where you can see the screen, and you can’t see the screen in good lighting
I've used my Sony Nex F3 for 12 years now 🤯 and it still takes great pictures, it's to bad that middle price segment doesn't really exist today. :/
Time for a upgrade soon, don't know which yet.
If you love the Nex 3/5 setup, just get a a5100, its cheap, and its exacly like yours (but better) or if you want to upgrade to an nex like, search for a6400/a6100 they are really cool ;)

Out of curiosity, why all those older a6000 cameras with the smaller battery, and not just recommend the a6600 instead with the bigger battery? I started with the a6500 and hated the battery life. I love my a6600 for the bigger battery alone. I eventually want to upgrade to the a6700.
The reason is that I always thought a6400 was a better deal so a6600 just wasn’t on my radar and I simply forgot about it 😅

Ofc it works fine, it’s the same sensor as the a6400. It’s just that I like VF a lot
ZV E10 also has direct web streaming features with usb C to como direct... makes for a very nice in studio camera

lol, sigma still makes great crisp sharp glass. Suirui makes glass with “character” ie, might be softer warmer or anamorphic. If you go for Sony glass look for the linear drive motors in the lenses, the autofocus performance is considerably better . The wave focus And “internal focus” Sony glass are much less responsive.
I prefer to buy a sony a6700 or a7c instead of Sony a7iii , and i prefer to buy a sony a7c mark 2 instead of sony a7iv

It’s very hard for me to say what you should buy. Photo video? What type of photography or videography? All matters. But a general answer would be Sony A7IV or a7cii with a 24-70mm f2.8 or a Sony a6700 with sigma 10-18 and sigma 18-55 🙌🏻

6700 is the king.No crops or lost features between a7 series , compact, lightweight, versatile.If u cannot film or create with this beast then the problem is you.This year we re going to see third party manufacturers with af ,zoom lenses, linear focus, constant aperture and others..not only from tamron,sigma or samyang.We can create art with everything in our hands and thesis.Iceland is mystic,magical and extravagant.Happy new year..(nex vg30,a6300,a7iii,zv1,zv e10 owners,not mentioned canons)

Well buy an A7C version 1, since the launch of A7cII it have became cheaper and will only cost you a fraction compared to an APSC. Eventually everyone will switch to full frame. Buy a zoom a zoom 24-70 will be good enough and buy new lens as you go on.

@@Nana-uy2ln Unfortunately, I haven't bought anything yet because I have a dilemma whether to go for the APSC system or full frame. I can say that I recently had a Sony a6600 in my hands and I have very good impressions, the battery holds better and there is generally stabilization (there is no stabilization in the a6400).
Do you think it's better to go with Sony or consider other brands such as Canon or Nikon?
No mention of the a6600? It has the bigger battery and IBIS. It will be cheaper than the a6700.
Never tried that camera and I think for the price a6400 is a better deal. But that is just my personal opinion ☺️

I'm experienced shooter than doesn't own a really good video shooter at the moment. I sold my X100V so I have some of my wife's money burning a hole in my pocket. 😉 I'm don't want to walk and shoot, so do I go for the a6400 and be happy with 8 bit and the smaller body, or go for the 6700 because I can. I can probably live without 10 bit.

cant decide between the a7iv and a7cii :(
I can understand that. The a7cii is smaller and has newer af features. But lacks 2sd card and has a smaller vf 👀 which one you leaning to?
kinda leaning towards the a7cii because its more suitable for travel, ai autofocus, and less intimidating while filming /shooting in public. On the other hand the a7iv does give off a more professional related gear like shooting for clients, also much better if i want to rig in the future. UGH, its tough to pick haha.😅@@thaticelandicguy
