My take away from this piece is that Paul really loves playing the guitar and is just having so much fun. It’s just a joy to watch and listen to him play. I can’t stop smiling.
How refreshing to have someone admit to multiple takes- unlike many people are happy to give the impression that they just picked up their guitar and played it first time.
I’m gonna start posting my gag reels as the intro to any videos I make from here on out. The intro will then be longer than the actual body of the video. 😂
Love it when you bust out that beautiful Telecaster of yours. One day I will own one of them. Once the kids have grown up and moved out, expensive little things lol
I have a Tonemaster Deluxe Reverb that I use for gigging and rehearsals, and for that application, after hauling a Hotrod Deluxe III for so long, I would never choose a valve amp over it now... However at home, I'd choose my Vibrochamp over it every time. Thanks for the great content Paul, I love your playing and the progressions you choose to improvise over.
That is some palette of tones, textures and colours Paul . Bravo! That's more than a toolbox, .I've got one of them in my shed and it's a grimy old thing !
Sounds incredible Paul, exactly how I think a tele should sound. I have an Elite American Tele, just feels too modern and sounds it to me too. As always, thanks for the breakdown
4:20 It’s not in your head, sir. You’re absolutely correct. Because it’s in your ears. And in your hands. And in the way the amp responds to the guitar and the feedback loop between electric pick ups and a speaker moving air. Those Tonemaster amps will get you fairly close but the information coming from your pick ups isn’t binary. It cannot be summed up in ones and zeros. There is harmonic information in between that’s being lost. Not to mention the latency, as amazingly minimal as it’s become. I’m just going to continue lugging around my tube amps and turning them up to their inherent sweet spots. ❤
Stunning playing Paul and the sound from that Twin is gorgeous! How you get it to sound SO good thru a phone is beyond me!! Really enjoyed Roy coming thru mate. All the best.
I used those silver face twins for years. Great sounding amps. They are built very well, shouldn't need too much repair over the years. Tele sounds great.
Hi Paul, this video seems to have gone below my radar. I love the tones you get from your new Twin Reverb. And you're twelfth take was indeed a good one. Your conglomerate of styles is very tasty put together. It's like your influences takes turns coming to the surface. It's wonderful to listen to and very inspiring for me. I just did a small live gig and was so lucky to get a Twin Reverb as backline. What a great amp. Now, this was a Blackface '65 RI and I have tried a few of these before. Quite amazed how well they work also on lower volumes. I managed to get some footage from the gig. In fact I mention you in my video, and as a slip of the tongue I refer to your Twin as a Tweed. Sorry. Your vacation time seems well spent, and I'm two weeks away from my vacation now. Will have one week in Samos, Greece, and then two more weeks, with no plans. Maybe I'll jump on a plane to Scotland and check if you are out buskin' in Princes Street 😄 All the best!
Wow! You have some wonderful things in that toolbox of yours, Paul . . . 'waterfall licks', yes please! Love it when you pull out that Tele, it really does have a couple of extra guitars tucked away inside it. I'm lucky still having my '68 Custom from back in the '70s but I was working as a guitar salesman in NZ for a couple of years as we pulled the band together and playing lots of Gibsons / Fenders / Ricks coming thru and learnt at that tender age of 18 that not all guitars are created equal - I had to ask the importers to send the odd Gibson & Fender back because they were just wrong! I think these days for those 2 brands, possibly one or two others, it's mainly the Custom Shop ones where you can be pretty sure of real care and attention to detail, but, but, the Japanese 2018 Players Edition Gretsch I bought a couple of years ago is as perfect an instrument as I have ever come across . . . moral of the story, keep going to guitar shops !!! 😅Thanks for the lovely piece and inside look, perfect for this Friday afternoon!
Was not born in the 50's, but you sure took me back there for a bit. Quick edit: I for one have never thought of you as any sort of snob. Thanks for checkin in once again Mr Cook.
Favorite playing, I’ve heard from you in awhile. Thank you. How did you enjoy Casper’s album? I know you’ve said it previously, which humbucker is that?sounds so warm
There's only G4M now left in York. It's gradually emptied of places in the city, even s/h shops have gone. It must be all online! Did you visit Emprize? I tried a Harrier (and others) at the NW show last week, and held 'The Beast' and also a Collector's Choice version. IIRC Emprize are considering some 'power scaling' versions of their amps.
Hey Paul, hope your are doing well? I really love the performance you put in on this one! Really great, I'm going to check out the tutorial later but have you ever thought about just taking a bunch of you favourite performances and editing them (individually) without the talking and tutorial etc, not that I don't like your content, but if you had just the music in short form so you could have a playlist or album of these tunes you do. I guess that would take a bit of time, but just something for your consideration. Have a nice weekend mate. All the best Thom.
Hi Thom. Actually, I keep forgetting to say it on my channel, but every time I post a video, I take the musical piece out of it and put it on my Instagram account (paulstaffordcook). There’s no speaking. Just the music. So by scrolling clip after clip it’s just like listening to an album. Maybe one day I’ll make a proper album for the streaming services, but for now, Instagram gives you a similar experience. Hope that helps.
Hi. No, it was the usual lipstick single coil. So my local tech had to route the body and then install the humbucker. We also sourced a new pickguard 👍
I went through a ’Reverend’ phase and eventually I also just disliked their crappy necks and sold them. Apparently they don’t want to hear about it and are married to them. Paul. You ever try a Carr amp? I have a Mercury which is quite good, and am excited by their new Bel Ray amp.
Hey Paul , about you're brainwashed mind that has been spoiled with top notch gear and sound , i have had gear like your'es and yes it sounded and played damn good , but .... now i have a squier tele and strat and a tonemaster dr ( with a better speaker in it though ) and i can't say i miss that top notch gear that much , i just can't justify spending so much money on gear anymore , live has become so expensive i need my money for the real / practical things in live , mind you though , if i ever win the lotery it might be that i will go on a top notch guitargear buyingstreak again : ) Ohh and btw , that was some mighty fine playing at the beginning of the vid , cheers .
My take away from this piece is that Paul really loves playing the guitar and is just having so much fun. It’s just a joy to watch and listen to him play. I can’t stop smiling.
Thanks Ted. And yes, your take away is correct, I just love it! 🍻
How refreshing to have someone admit to multiple takes- unlike many people are happy to give the impression that they just picked up their guitar and played it first time.
I’m gonna start posting my gag reels as the intro to any videos I make from here on out. The intro will then be longer than the actual body of the video. 😂
Thanks Steve. Yes, I’d be a useless session player….. the minute that red light comes on 🤣
Once again Mr Stafford Cook Brilliant 🤩👍🏻 love that guitar as well 👍🏻👍🏻
Thank you Moose, I’m delighted you like my Telecaster 🍻
This sounds so magical. such a tasteful guitar playing. I closed my eyes and started sailing....

Mr. Cook, you have a lot of special friends on that fretboard and I am so pleased you introduced them to us all!! Great touch :)
Thanks man, cheers
Lovely as usual, Paul. Nice one :)
Absolutely awesome! Hoagy smiles in his grave. Jeff Beck too. You're a great player.

Thanks Lewis, delighted you like my playing. Cheers
Just beautiful.
Good stuff Thank you for showing how you play those great riffs thanks for slowing it down and spelling it out
Cheers Tom
Love it! I actively enjoy the comforting hum from the amp. Heartfelt thanks
It’s funny you mention the comfort there is to be had from hearing the hum 🤣. I’m starting to feel the same way.
Haaaa fantastic.youre marvelous and happy.needs are small.
Thanks John 🍻
Brilliant as always, thank you Paul. Am also in love with my tele (1964 ) very best wishes and good health to you and your family from Glasgow 👍🎸❤️
Cheers Frank 👍
That is some palette of tones, textures and colours Paul . Bravo! That's more than a toolbox, .I've got one of them in my shed and it's a grimy old thing !
Thanks Cannavan 👍

Thanks Greg 🍻

Been away awhile but glad to come back and see your still at it Paul. One of my favorite players. And one of the realest.
Well thank you man, I appreciate that 👍
Sounds incredible Paul, exactly how I think a tele should sound. I have an Elite American Tele, just feels too modern and sounds it to me too. As always, thanks for the breakdown
Thanks Mikmc, delighted you like my playing 🍻
If you want a truly vintage feeling and sounding Tele, get a Nash. They are astonishing
Always in great style my friend! You are a girt!
Thanks Harold 👍
I am loving your channel suddenly!! Thank you!

Stunning playing Paul and the sound from that Twin is gorgeous! How you get it to sound SO good thru a phone is beyond me!! Really enjoyed Roy coming thru mate. All the best.
Thank you Brian 👍. And I’m delighted you noticed me channeling some Roy Buchanan.
Sweet, sweet tones and tasty playing. That Tele is the perfect instrument for this tune
Fantastic!!!
Thank you 🍻
I used those silver face twins for years. Great sounding amps. They are built very well, shouldn't need too much repair over the years.
Tele sounds great.

Great stuff Paul... Beautiful tone..love that guitar 👏👏👏
Thanks Michael 👍
beautiful, I love how you get it to sound like a steel guitar!
Thanks Shannon 🍻
Took my Tele to band rehearsal last night. It's battered and bruised but that's its charm...

Thanks Thor. Just watched your great video! And left a comment 😊
Great playing Paul!
Thank you 👍
Dude. You've got the magic beans. Telecasters are a dopamine delivery system.
You're a pusher of the good stash.
Your comment has me smiling 🤣👍
Thanks man, cheers 🍻
Genio Paul!!!! Fascinante tu toque!!!!
Abrazo!!!

Roy Buchanan vibes. Awesome.
beautiful paul! been on a tele kick myself as well :)
That intro reminded me of Roy Buchanan! Well done Paul! 👍
Thanks Glen 👍
Glad to hear that you are mortal! I bet the previous 11 takes blows away most of us. Thanks for your videos man!
Well thank you Kyle. The previous takes certainly involved some swearing 🤣
Oh thats a Tobias tune Ive heard too many times! :D Great!
glossy necks are easily fixed with a Scotch brite pad...takes about 2 minutes to make it a satin finish.
Yes please ✌🏻🎸🎶

Thanks Morton. And interesting to read about your experiences regards the varying quality of guitars that came through. Cheers
PSC signature sound. Really cool.
Thanks denmar 👍
Damn you made that tele sound like about 5 different guitars during that play through!
Thanks Paul. Yeah, it’s such a joy to play that guitar. It’s a pity it looks like it was found in the trash 🤣
Was not born in the 50's, but you sure took me back there for a bit. Quick edit: I for one have never thought of you as any sort of snob. Thanks for checkin in once again Mr Cook.
Well thank you man, I appreciate that. And cheers for watching 👍
I'd take 1200 takes and not be able to capture as much magic as there was here 👌
Thanks Jonathan, I’m glad you liked it.
Favorite playing, I’ve heard from you in awhile. Thank you. How did you enjoy Casper’s album?
I know you’ve said it previously, which humbucker is that?sounds so warm
Thanks man. The humbucker is the Stormy Monday from Bare Knuckle 👍
There's only G4M now left in York. It's gradually emptied of places in the city, even s/h shops have gone. It must be all online! Did you visit Emprize? You held “The Beast”…. I’m jealous 😊. That’s interesting about Emprize looking at power scaling. I hope they do.
With none of your skill or finesse, been Telecastering myself this aft after a few beers - you're a fabulous player fella
Thank you Frank, I’m delighted you like my playing 👍

@@paulstaffordcook8799 Cheers for the heads up!
Campilongo vibes
That amp is hissy. Get it to Time Travel Audio in Leith and they will fix it ❤
As if there was ever a time for not Telecasting….
Ain’t that the dang truth…
Sounded great! Nice little tune gave me some great “Sleepwalk” vibes
Thanks, glad you liked it 🍻
What year is the tele Paul, sounds fantastic, I can only stretch to a Squier 😢
Thanks 👍. Yes, I bought it new in 2017 (albeit as a heavy relic).
Yep that was great no wondered your knackered...mind you only guitar you can do all that on is a Tele..
Thanks Martyn 👍
is this guitar come with PAF or humbucker pickup?
Hi. No, it was the usual lipstick single coil. So my local tech had to route the body and then install the humbucker. We also sourced a new pickguard 👍

Hi Ivor. No, I’ve never tried a Carr, although I do lust after them. Joe Gore seems married to his! I’d probably love it if I I tried one.

Thanks Antoon. It sounds like you have a sensible grip on life and what’s important. So fair play. Cheers for watching as always 🍻👍
