Apparently, the first time the British Navy attempted to land on New Zealand shores they were met by Maori doing a haka on the shores. Something you don’t see very often in these modern hakas, is they were performed wearing little, carrying weapons and the slapping of their bodies you see now, then were done hard enough to be heard and turn their skin read. The sight of this war dance, by the British, scared them and forced them to turn tail and not even make it to shore.

The Crow well no that’s actually quite interesting to see these comments saying these hakas are scary, because the literal purpose in the past, to intimidate their rivals with their vicious screams and stomps, these are supposed to either unsettle their uponents or have a companion feel to it

  • @sayo2990

The difference between the dances is so interesting to see. The Haka is an outright challenge. It's almost a dare, no theatrics, while the unity dance is more about the strategy of the chase, the process of intimidating an opponent through anticipation.
They're both very different approaches that have their own power and beauty. It was absolutely brilliant to see them portrayed so well

set for the EXPECTED RESPONSE and right on cue, everytime
it appears the NZ and ANYONE ELSE who has this response,

      the BOLSHEVIKS did in Russia.
Make you HATE your own culture and history and self loathe.
Make you LOVE AND WORSHIP another culture, SUBTLELY
through WORSHIP of THOSE cultures in books, tv and movies,

Ehterlink rugby isn’t big in Austria is more the pity but rugby is a big thing in England, Ireland, Scotland, Wales, France and growing in Italy. It also has a growing presence in other European countries. I would love Austrians to play rugby but I would mostly love the Russians and other Eastern Europeans to play. They would be good because they’re big and tough.
I love the game. It’s relatively complicated compared to other sports but it’s tough, fair and passionate. And played by men who both demand and give respect.
I’m hoping my mistake is your gain. Italy plays France this Saturday and Wales plays Ireland this Sunday along with England vs Scotland. The best game should be Wales and Ireland. If you can find out how to watch a game then give it a crack. Any Irish pub such as Flanagan’s in Vienna will be the place to watch it. If you love sports then give it a go.

This was very beautiful, brings tears to the eyes! With all the loss of identity going on all over the world this was amazing!

Loss of identity? In this day and age you can identify as anything. Just look at me, I'm a straight white lesbian black Japanese male that identifies as a 11 year old black caucasian girl. I fucking love this!

Good Lord, then why bother having a football game? The whole point of competition is one team wins, the other one doesn't. It's not a referendum on an entire culture. It's just a damned game.
