    • @SahihSteve
      @SahihSteve Місяць тому

      @@sekhmet1379 MĀORI ARE NOT INDIGENOUS
      ‘Indigenous’ means you were here from the very beginning of time, i.e. before knowledge, handed-down memory, and the scientific record can accurately determine.
      Indigenous means you didn’t come from somewhere else to settle here.
      Clearly, Maori don’t fit the definition of indigenous. They were settlers here, like everyone else.
      The only reason Māori could be considered indigenous at the time of the Treaty of Waitangi in 1840 is that they were the most recent arrivals.
      Their own ‘from whakapapa’ hand-me-downs gleefully recount the killing, eating, enslavement, and dispossession of the people-the Tangata Whenua-who were already living here when the Maori arrived around 1250 AD in ancestral canoes, the names of which are still known today.
      Unlike the Australian Aboriginals, who according to carbon dating can hold up time in the land of more than 40, 000 years, Maori are just another wave of immigrants who showed up about 400 years before Abel Tasman made landfall in 1642.
      Truly indigenous people don’t have stories about coming from elsewhere 1,200 years ago.
      Maori tikanga holds that after death, Maori spirits leave NZ via its northernmost tip, Cape Reinga, to return to their ancestral homeland of Hawaiiki.
      Hardly something they’d need to do if anyone alive today descended in part from a Maori was actually ‘Indigenous.’
      Nimrods who assert otherwise should be called out loudly and often on the horse wallop they peddle.
      Anyone descended in part from a Maori has exactly the same rights as everyone else.
      Nothing more and nothing less.

Now they don't want to work and expect large amounts of free cash, housing and 30% quotas from the current government. Are Indians applying visas for America and New Zealand trying to move to the Maori and Red Indian system, culture, and lands? Hard to pick up the nuances from overseas....as a non Maori Kiwi who has returned after living overseas....this issue has become depressingly out of control. We should all be equal...we have a tribunal that settled land dispites...billions of dollars worth of fishing rights have been handed to Maori. What we have is a ratchet that gives ever more rights and cash to one race. Applying for a government job these days ...if you are a Maori you go to the front. Yes there are many social issues....but all the cash has made.little difference. Indians...Afghans...Syrians...Chinese...Argentinians...etc.come here to live.and do well. Yet we are told the system is stacked against Maori. So tired of hearing this.....these grandstanding politicians need to look harder at their culture and see why immigrants who arrive here with no special rights...often barely speaking English do well. Why is that? Maori leaders should spend all their time trying to improve educational outcomes instead of encouraging their children to believe they are are somehow especially disadvantaged. The last labour government learnt or maybe did not learn...that no cash...no further special rights will ever be enough.

    Thank you for sharing, imagine someone coming to your homeland and trying to wipe your cultural heritage out because it isn't to their liking. They wanted to ban Te Reo Maori from being taught in our public schools and public signs, they wanted to take Te Pati Maori out of the parliament so we have no say. Our grandparents were punished for speaking Te Reo back in the day and this is no difference apart from the laws being modernized. I'm glad Hana Rawhiti performed Haka in the Parliament because it's what broadcast the issue worldwide, and that's what we needed. Because our government doesn't care about our people. We knew who we are and what we stand for, we didn't feel the need to venture out and sail and conquer to seek wholeness, our deepness in culture gave that to us.

      Nah. Nah. The privileges they ('our people') are afraid of losing were not given by the Crown but by the Waitangi Tribunal, an entity set up in the 1970s and populated by 'woke' individuals. Back in the day we called them 'sickly white liberals'. David Seymour has no intention to change the treaty nor to do any injustice. Just to rein-in some of the scandalous 'revisions' perpetrated since by the SWLs.

Years later, I claim the treaty is discriminatory and demand its abolition, justifying it by saying, "The government has the right to govern New Zealand." Meanwhile, my white friends ridicule the indigenous people, calling them uncivilized and considering themselves superior simply because they are white. Did someone just get 'Israeled' here?
