This song is part of the sound track to my youth. It's beautiful. I find myself gravitating back to Crosby, Stills, Nash and Young as well as the Beatles, ELO, Fleetwood Mac, James Taylor and the rest of the bands that made the 60s and 70s spectacular for the music. It's been a ride...kids, career a 41 year marriage to a gal that I've know since I was 10 years old and all the rest of the wonderful and bullshit that goes with life. I'm still working...still run four miles a day, and still as full of bullshit as I was in college-which I'm kind proud of. Cheers to all of the old fucks that listen to this beautiful music and can laugh at the life that we've had.
Was in the service overseas 1968, 69. This was the music that became who we were. Came back home May 1969. Bought a used 1959 red Corvette on Long Beach Blvd for $850. Drove it to Tijuana for new seats and convertible top cloth. It had an eight track cassette under the dash. I had two tapes. Anne Murray Snow Bird and Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young - Déjà Vu . Played them every day.
Broken hearted ..we lost one of the most talented musicians David Crosby..a voice and talent that's irreplaceable. Such a huge part of many of our lives CSN&Y....shine on David ✌️🌹❤️🎶
I was 15 when I first heard them in the early 70’s and got so inspired I started to play acoustic guitar and sang their songs particularly Graham Nash solos. They say I sound a bit like him (lol)Later I met an acoustic duo and jammed with them and we became a trio and played in bars in Philippines all inspired by CSN music. Most people say we sound a little bit like CSN and that’s enough consolation to us. Man before CSN came to Manila in 2012 the people were so excited of their coming that they frequented our gigs requesting us to do CSN songs and finally we all went together to watch the real thing “ CSN LIVE in Manila “ . It was a truly great night of CSN music and nostalgia was in the air and for the whole week after CSN left our gigs were packed with CSN fans! We were the leftovers they wanted to savor. I love my life being a fan of CSN. With their music, it definitely added color into this world until today! Thank you CSN! That you God for CSN! We love you guys!
I’m helplessly hoping that this covert war on humans is soon eradicated. Rest with the angels David. Thank you for the heavenly harmonies and soulful memories I hold dear relating to your tunes since my childhood. The world will be dim without your voice.
The✨stars are brighter. You and I grew up together listening to the same music and your reply hit💔home, you replied it well and ya'nailed it. 🇨🇦✌🏻🎶💔🇺🇸(+🇺🇦)✨🌎💫
They were great with impeccable harmonies back up until the 90's.Attitudes,egos,booze & drugs turned them into a shadow their former selves.Fortunately their earlier brilliance is forever preserved.
Helplessly hoping Her harlequin hovers nearby Awaiting a word Gasping at glimpses Of gentle true spirit He runs, wishing he could fly Only to trip at the sound of good-bye [Verse 2] Wordlessly watching He waits by the window And wonders At the empty place inside Heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams He worries Did he hear a good-bye? Or even hello? [Chorus] They are one person They are two alone They are three together They are for each other [Verse 3] Stand by the stairway You'll see something Certain to tell you confusion has its cost Love isn't lying It's loose in a lady who lingers Saying she is lost And choking on hello [Chorus] They are one person They are two alone They are three together They are for each other
This song and Teach the Children are the only songs that reduce me to tears! CSN is incomparable in song writing and song performing. So much has transpired since these songs were released and they are still current in 2020. Thank you For enriching my life with all your music!
the only thing better than this was my dad taking me to their reunion concert in Detroit for my 23rd birthday...man that was an excellent night!! (only thing better than that was taking my mom and dad to Simon and Garfunkel for their reunion in Detroit...I cried lol)
I'm 30 years Young, and in my high school days, they're music touched my soul, and 4+20 years ago, I longed to be more, and I'm still not into selling door to door! I agree, military madness is killing my country. Deja vu. Find the cost of freedom!!
I am 61 years Young and they sang their way straight in my heart when I was 15. When I heard them sing the words "If you smile at me, I will understand 'Cause that is something everybody everywhere does in the same language|" I knew I was changed for ever. I wanted to Teach my Children that Our House would be warm and safe and that the world outside isn't that bad and that Helplessly Hoping for good times is ok. I still love these guys and hope they will be alright. Like I always say, "Old soldiers never die"...........
If I've seen them once, I've seen them 15 times (with Neil sometimes). My younger brother would take the T-Tops off his 'Vette and we'd drive to Temple U. blasting Suite: Judy Blue Eyes - repeatedly. From the Atlantic City Pop Festival 2 weeks before Woodstock through innumerable times they were all good. And then being able to introduce my 8 year old son to them at the Mann Music Center (it helps to know the head of Atlantic A&R) in 1990 was the tops. And in 2013; they're still real good. :)
@macbadapple Oh I doubt it! Hiya Mac!! ;) I have this entire concert on my hard drive.....just haven't had the "gumption" to get the rest of it up here LoL ;)
Love your videos Beth! Just a suggestion to get Meatloaf into the mix following his recent death. There is a lovely recorded video of Paradise by the Dashboard Light on UA-cam. The album sold something like 69 million copies.

Right on brother! Those were the days.

Farewell David Crosby. You'll always be remembered through your music.
So long, David Crosby. Thank you for sharing your music with the world.
One of the most beautiful songs ever written and performed .. perfect harmonies. I am so blessed to have grown up with this music.
CSN's harmony is beyond talent. It is genius, best experienced live.
And I’m so grateful I saw them live in 1988.❤️
There will never be another band that can do it like these guys do it!
Home free an American band was done a beautiful rendition.
Venice......

So sad to hear about David. I love this song so much. 🤍
classic, never to be forgotten.
What good memories of my younger days..
This song reminds me of my first love.
A love I never spoke about.
An empty place inside for 50 years now.
this always brings me to tears and puts chills up my spine.

The only thing better than those harmonies is that twang of Stephen Stills’ guitar.
Nice....
beautiful, they were so great together
This is history that will NEVER be duplicated.
Damn, those are first class harmonies........
no one (nobody? i'm french) sang like those guys.
C'est vrai je chante mieux ! 😜 je crois que c'est nobody...
Les deux peuvent marcher! Je suis moitier anglais 👍.
This sound will never be equaled.
Beautiful. RIP David♥️
❤ one of my late husband’s favorite bands. Mine too ❤️ Brings his memory alive for me ❤️
The harmony’s are beautiful !
Une belle époque…
Impossible to match perfection. Perhaps in Heaven? We can only hope.

They brought out the sun on a cloudy day.
Love how Stills’ guitar sounds.
There will never be a better harmony amongst three men in all our lives. Let that sink in.
This though ❤️❤️
Vocal poetry.
I've been listening to this song over the last 40 years and still can't get enough of it.
Magic, nothing but pure magic. David. Pls rest in peace. 😢
56 and still jamming it!
This is the pinnacle that ALL groups singing harmony have to master. It
BEAUTIFUL...
Such a talented group of guys!

Helplessly hoping
Her harlequin hovers nearby
Awaiting a word
Gasping at glimpses
Of gentle true spirit
He runs, wishing he could fly
Only to trip at the sound of good-bye
[Verse 2]
Wordlessly watching
He waits by the window
And wonders
At the empty place inside
Heartlessly helping himself to her bad dreams
He worries
Did he hear a good-bye? Or even hello?
[Chorus]
They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for each other
[Verse 3]
Stand by the stairway
You'll see something
Certain to tell you confusion has its cost
Love isn't lying
It's loose in a lady who lingers
Saying she is lost
And choking on hello
[Chorus]
They are one person
They are two alone
They are three together
They are for each other
What a beautiful performance. Stills is a genius. Tears may heart apart listening. What music is supposed to do.
Me too!
:)@@sallypyszczek7836
Love these three!
