It sometimes confuses me how people build a city with no public transport and then wonder why they have so much traffic, but also actual real life governments seem to be confused as to why it doesn’t help when they don’t fund public transport soo
Frank Yanish that works as long as its profitable. However, what you actually mean is a government company. It receives funding from the government via contract but is still incentivized to increase profits.
@spam acc The problem is it's hard to get people into public libraries in the internet age and hard to think of something you can do in one that you can't do somewhere else. As a Finn I gotta love the district names :D Anyway, this is why you don't do those high density "grid boxes" and just connect it with a couple holky-bolky highways like UusiKetä. Interconnect your districts and apply moderate road hierarchy!
Funny to see Finnish names in Biffas video. But Risto is right. Too many "grid boxes". So many Biffas city fix videos are just those. 6:19 You can toggle that PF Indicator in you Mod Menu. It's telling you how many cars waiting for their path to be calculated. Show Pathfinding Stats If you enable this option, a new label is added to the game menu (the one shown when you press Esc in-game, or click the gear button in top-right corner of screen) that indicates the number of Path Finders ("PFs") currently queued. If the number is very large, something that can happen on large systems or slow computers, it's possible that some vehicles may appear "stuck" while they wait for their path.
A couple of thoughts: 1. There needs to be pre-Biffa:d interchanges. Your fav type of three-way and four-way motorway intervchanges with lane mathematics etc already done. 2. aw, you could have done the subways in the Transport for London roundel shape! Obviously a late reply, but if you're still looking for good interchanges, look up MaxFX on the workshop. He does the lane mathematics and if you have traffic manager and other mods they come with priority and lane designations set up not to mention road markings any everything else.
There was a bus stop on the round about that you put in. That was the disconnected thing you thought was part of the underground spaghetti. It popped itself into the middle of the roundabout.

1:47 Players need to realize that the AI in this game is different from real people. Just because you created a bypass with no traffic, but if the distance is longer than the original, the vehicles will still ignore it. The AI has a lot of improvements to be made, despite it already being the best of this age: (1) cars often line up in 1 row, instead of spreading out, and (2) the AI calculations apparently minimize the distance instead of travel time.
I think it's based on speed/journey time, not distance. If you have a long road that is 100 kph and a short road that is 10kph, they'll tank the long road. Sadly, the majority of roads in the base game are 50 kph, so it's not an obvious behavior.
Biffa i have an good idea, what if you ask some creators of those maps with horrendous traffic premission to put their city online, so the watchers could go and practice themselfs with clearing traffic.
I’m not Biffa but I’ll wish you luck and fun. You’ve got Biffa so you’re starting off ahead of the game. :D And what the person above said, do not be afraid to rebuild roads and whole neighborhoods as you go along! Took me so long to fully embrace this but it really helps.
Woah. I would suggest not using ALL the DLC at once. That would be overwhelming. Run a city 50K or so w/no DLC. Understand the base game & be successful.. Then turn on one at a time. Otherwise, I feel like you're set up to fail.
These tunnel-spaghetti engineers are missing out on one of the key mantras of transport engineering. "Roads don't cause traffic - junctions do". So you add more tunnels, that means more junctions, more traffic! The only tunnels I actually like are using to burrow under an over-highway roundabout such as a two bridge roundabout or a 3-level stack roundabout, like on the M62/M1 junction, where the extra slip road takes the pressure off significant conflicting right turn movements.
@@BiffaPlaysCitiesSkylines i wonder how long it would be before someone decides to make underground roundabouts for such a massive underground network XD

One big tip for toll lanes that I learned really helps keep traffic from backing up there: Try to keep twice as many toll lanes as there are traffic. 3 way highway? Build two tolls side by side for that one direction, and use TMPE to split the lanes up, one traffic lane per 2 toll lanes.
3:54 i would've put that entire highway underground and as a 6 lane aveune that acts like a highway. deleted all the underground tunnels that crisscross and made that roundabout at-ground. that way, traffic can get from place to place AND make the city look a bit nicer in one fix. plus it reduces the noise pollution too and right where the highway was, more space for shopping or residential.
I would've upgraded his toll road. Go each way on the highway and make it 5-6 lane each way for a couple of clicks and a 5-6 lane toll instead of 3 lane highway into a 4 lane toll. Just lighten the load through there for less stopping.

almost all of my heavy traffic is in industrial areas. One thing I cant figure is why in the hell industrial trucks will driver clear across the map to use a cargo train terminal when one is in the same industrial area. Have a good mining area up and a smaller farming area with a residential/shopping town in between them and the damn cargo trucks from the mining area will drive through the town to the train depot in the the farming area despite it being 300u away from the closest mine, warehouse, or processing plant. There are train depots in both.
I always like to add a second cargo terminal in my industrial areas one on one side and the other on the opposite it will usually split the trucks up and then if you add a roundabout on the exiting road from the terminal it helps out alot if that makes sense
@@vorticalcomet85 I've got one in both of these 2 areas, but for whatever reason trucks will drive from the mining zone to use the more busy one at the farming zone that is also sending trucks into to town to supply the commecial in the town. Its frustrating. The rest of my traffic is just high volume, nothing is tailing back to the freeways.

What's the population? You should easily be able to get it to atleast 80% even if it's 150,000 pop as long as you watch biffa and are not afraid to delete sections and rebuild.
almost all of my heavy traffic is in industrial areas.
Biffa's gonna fix the roads right by the time the city's gonna go bankrupt lmao
Edit: oh the money went back up again good
Hey biffa, I’ve been really far down the rabbit hole in C:S videos because one of yours showed up randomly in my recommendations. Now I’m going to have to buy this game and it’s all your goddamn fault! XD
Enjoy 😁
Keep up the great work
/Next day, finally watching the video/ Oh, lordy. I would be out there with the Move It mod selecting swathes of road (under- and above-ground) and deleting them all. And I'd lose the game again. ARRGH. Biffa, you have the patience of a saint.
