Different Types of Concrete Surfaces
Concrete comes in many types and substrates that can be found both for--- interior and exterior applications. There are Concrete Driveways, Vertical Brick Walls, Brick Paver Patios, Stamped Concrete patios, Basement Floors, Residential and Commercial Garages, and Industrial Warehouses.
Why Seal & Waterproof concrete:
1. Preventing hairline cracks due to water expansion during freeze/thaw cycles.
2. Prevent water penetration and seepage of water through brick walls and foundations.
3. Enhance the appearance by adding a gloss or darkening the overall color.
4. Prevent damage from deicing salts during winter months.
5. Provide protection from "Pitting" or "Spalling" or deterioration of the concrete, causing chunks of the concrete to separate from the concrete structure.
Thank you guys so much! Your website helped us understand exactly what we needed to protect and improve our back patio.
What do you recommend for sealing an overhead condo car ramp that already has a sealer on it but is now failing.

What would you recommend for smooth mason/landscaping block such as tecoblok? Not sure which type to get. It will be in hot/cold snow/rain environment. Looking for some insight, as well as which will give a semi gloss finish to it.
Thanks
Look at the Super Seal 25 for a semi-gloss.
Hi, I have a 25 year old brick paver driveway that I just finished blasting off 3 layers of concrete stains. I'd like to have a wet, glossy look to the driveway. I'm in South Florida and the sun can beat up a driveway. Which product do you recommend and how long does the product last? Also, when the time comes to reapply in a few years, do I have to strip the old sealer off? Thank you.
See this about brick paver sealers: www.concretesealerreview.com/best-brick-paver-sealer/
The Super Seal 30 would be best. Reapplying every 2 years is normal. Do not need to strip when recoating.
Hello. Which you recommend for a 20 year old aggregate driveway? I'd like a very high gloss look. Thank you!
Super Seal 30 in clear or brown-tinted for aggregate.
Hi, I am planning to use RadonSeal, followed by LastiSeal stain to my slab-on-grade floor concrete floor. Our showers are directly on the floor, no base. Should we apply a polyurethane topcoat to protect the floor from dirt, kitchen spills, stains and water? Thank you!
No, you cannot apply a polyurethane coating over a concrete sealer like this as it will result in peeling.
Hello Saywater, How did your project go? Can you share what you did? My wife and I are looking to do the same but struggling to find a resource that explains the process and what products to use. Thank you!
Thanks for the great information! Which sealer would be best for smooth concrete floor in an apartment? No plans of installing any other flooring.
SuperSeal- M Water Repellent.
@@concretesealerreview1865 thank you!
Just had about some concrete poured in our backyard last week. Has a smooth border with a broom center finish. Would like to darken the concrete slightly but give a nice wet look. Which would you choose?
Wet look sealers will not work well for plain concrete. They are for decorative concrete like pavers or stamped.

@@concretesealerreview1865 Read that. Makes sense. Thank you.
I have a concrete deck patio on the first floor of my house and another patio underneath it. I need to seal the concrete so it does not leak on the patio furniture underneath. What do you recommend I use so it does not leak?
Try SuperSeal-M Water Repellent.
Good morning from Virginia, could I use super seal m water repellent for indoor use on cinder block basement walls to prevent condensation and radon from seeping in? Then also can I paint after it’s completely cured? Thank you
It is not possible for a sealer to stop water from seeping out of concrete surfaces and you cannot paint over a sealer, the paint would peel as the sealer would repel it.
Concrete Sealers work by preventing water from soaking into concrete surfaces, they cannot prevent water from seeping out.
Thank you
We have very very small hairline cracks in our driveway (almost unnoticeable) is there a sealer to prevent water from getting in freezing & cracking ?
Sealers like SuperSeal-M and Masonry Saver Heavy Duty Water Repellent will help to provide protection.
Can you apply water based sealer over solvent sealer? My stamped patio was sealed with Deco Guard - Siloxane Modified Methyl Methacrylate... What sealers can I use?
We are not familiar with that brand so you should ask Deco Guard directly. In general, you cannot apply another sealer over a different sealer if it is still repelling. Siloxane sealers are designed to create a reaction internally with the alkali in the concrete, sealing for 5-6 years in most cases.
I have used Super Seal 30 and your video reinforced my decision for the Super Seal 30. I've used it on stamped concrete and aggregate sidw walk. Would the Super Seal 25 work as well? Thank you.
If you have already used the SS30, then stick with it.
What is the best item to use to seal a concrete fountain....it's starting to have fine line cracks and I would like to seal from getting worse
Sealers will not work on fountains or where there is constant water.
We just did a driveway with cement blocks and would like to know what brand concrete will be best to use. We live in the North where there is lots of snow, ice and salt.
For a concrete sealer, try Super Seal-M.
@@concretesealerreview1865 I've had great luck with Thompson's Water Seal
Can i use two sealer? The number 6 for first coating and number 1 for final coating?
Sorry, but we do not know what you mean.
Hello, I need to seal the concrete in a small basement room, half of it has self leveling compound and half is the old porous concrete, will like to seal to prevent moisture from affecting the vinyl planks I'm installing there, which product do you recommend? Thank you!
Sealers work to prevent water from penetrating into concrete. They do not work to prevent water from leeching out of concrete. It will not help in your scenario to use a concrete sealer.
I just bought armorguard sealer for my acid stain garage floor is it critical to a anti skid additive..
Not really and not even sure you can add grip to that sealer.
@@concretesealerreview1865 Thats what i figured, thanks
I have one more question I apiece the first coat and kept a edge and very even but still got lap marks should I roll the second coat or spray it ? Thanks
@@raiders3417 Not sure as we do not use the Armorguard. Best to ask them directly.
Will the MasonrySaver Heavy Duty Water Repellent keep water vapor from seeping up through an interior slab?
No. Sealers cannot stop water from seeping out. They only work to prevent water from soaking in.
I need to seal the concrete floor in a basement room before I lay some lvp flooring, we had to use self leveling concrete to level half of the floor, so half the floor is smooth self leveling concrete, the other half is porous old concrete. What would you recommend?
Try Super Seal-M.
Thank you!
I have a basement that is sweating…what would you recommend to stop sweating
It is not possible for a sealer to prevent water from seeping out of a surface. They only work by preventing water from soaking into a surface. You would have to seal the opposite side of the wall or floor to prevent this.
I just pour a concrete sidewalk, concrete says it cures in 28 days . Do I wait 29 days before applying a sealer, also do the sealer prevent salt from affecting the concrete. Thanks
You can use a cure ans seal concrete sealer like the Super Seal-M now. You do not have to wait 28 days. It will help with the deicing salts.
Hi, could you tell me how long these sealer last once it applied to the cement ? 3 years?
Which sealer are you asking about?
@@concretesealerreview1865 for outdoor use for example the best long last sealer which one you recommend? How long does it last ?
@@davidwang3222 try SuperSeal-M. It will last about 5-7 years.
can I put this over painted cement
You cannot apply a concrete sealer over paint.
Whats best for a poured basement from the 1940s ? Not a block basement. Its a poured basement. Water is getting in through the concrete
Sealers do not prevent water from leaching out. They only work to prevent water from soaking in. You would have to prevent the water from the outside to fix this.
Best sealer for stamped concrete?

Not much choice where i am.. i just use xylene based sealer. I thin the first coat so it penetrates better. Apparently the one i buy has more suspended solid and a thicker gel
