    Hello folks, used Eagle Concrete Sealant on my new Pole Barn slab floor. Meant to say "Hydrophobic" not "Agoraphobic", it isn't afraid of going places, it repels water :) Check out this video to see how I applied it, and what my initial thoughts of the product were.

    TNT, I purchased two 5 gallon containers of the same stuff to apply to my new oncrete floor. I've had the sealant for several weeks now but haven't had the energy to apply the solution yet. I will do something in a week or so. I've been jumping from project to project based on availability of funds and my iverall energy level. No excuse but I'm in my 70's and after my stroke and being placed on prescribed drugs, the slightest work drains me but I'll get it done. I leave no mission unaccomplished. Since pouring of the concrete slab, I've babied the concrete floor so that nothing stains or penetrates the concrete surface until I cam seal it with the Eagle Supreme Sealant. I love how your floor turned out. You comment section provided a significant amount of important information that came to mind. Have a fine Friday and may you and your family have a blessed Easter (Resurrrection day) this Sunday. 👍🏽😇🙏🏽 03/29/24 Oh BTW, I just SUBSCRIBED to your channel. Thanks again.

    Thank you so much for this. I’m moving my rug washing shop to a new facility and I had the concrete ground down to remove carpet glue. It exposed this top layer of aggregate and gave it this great salt and pepper look. I want to coat it with something that will show the aggregate and leave it glossy just like in this video

    Great video. Planning to do this on my new garage floor, I have an office loft above.. wondering how long it took for the VOC smell to go away?

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings  2 роки тому +2

      Once it has cured, the smell went away. For me it was about 1-2 days after I put down the last of it on the floor. Was well ventilated area, but does take a good day to cure/dry up. If you were to do it say on a Friday night, I'd have no worries about it being good to go on Sunday as an example. Thanks for the question brosiferous.

    Is this durable enough to use on a garage floor?
    Does it hold up to hot tires that normally peel up regular enamel floor paint?

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings  Рік тому +1

      It certainly isn't the "Perfect" solution, but.... I have now had it down in my barn for quite some time and it has held up to my jeeps, my truck and my tractor sitting a while, then moving, as well as turning the wheels sharply etc. It does not peal, but likely wears over time. It is also not 100% impermeable, quick clean up of spills is easy, but a long standing puddle of anything will seep in. I find it also helps keep the dust down very well. In all likelihood it probably should be re-applied every few years for heavy use I would assume. I hope this goes a little ways to answer your question. Greatly appreciate the question.

    I bought this exact product from Home Depot to try to seal floors in my barndominium. How has the product lasted after two years? My barn will be a living space. Curious if it’s slippery, keeps finish?

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings  9 місяців тому

      Not slippery, that is the plus. Still easier to clean than a standard concrete floor. It is prone to scratching and scuffing. Ideally for a garage setting I would probably want to seal it every couple of years due to the traffic I put it through (tractors, zero turns, dragging saw horses around etc). It is good, it is not perfect. For a barndominium living quarters, I would think that an epoxy sealant would hold up longer and make you happier, but that also could be a lot more expensive.

    If I put this on a driveway or patio, is it okay to pressure wash once a year or every 2 years? Will the product peel off with pressure washing or does it penetrate into the concrete? Would you expect the need to reapply after 2 or 3 years?

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings  2 місяці тому

      It will not peal, you may want to check for outdoor use on the label, not sure about that. I have had mine in the barn now for 3 years, and it does wear but does not peal. I would at minimum count on having to re-apply every other year. Where at first my floor would repel fluids, now if I'm not quick enough, they do get through and can stain the concrete, so I'm likely very much do for another coating as well. Thanks for your question, much appreciate you taking the time to leave the comment.

    Is your floors gray color after Seal or more of a tan color? Some Videos I seen are mixed. I want to give this a go but want to keep em gray looking.

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings  2 роки тому +2

      Hello there Jeremy and thank you for your question. I would say that even after months post this video (coating holding up well, still beads water), that the color has held to almost perfectly clear. So it will show the color of your concrete... and that includes any stains you may have. My floor was pretty new, so few stains, however there were some variations to the colors of grey in the final concrete that showed through as sort of a marbled finish. Hope this answers your question. They may have some color pigments that can be added if that is something you are looking for... but for straight up application, look at your floor, then picture it shinny and that is what you will end up with. I have spilled oil, gas, hydraulic fluid, mud, pepsi, beer, etc on the floor, and it cleans right up. Not sure how long it will last, but for the first few months, even after driving over it with a dirty tractor, and trucks, and jeeps, so far it is holding up just fine. Now for my selfish ask... if you have not already subscribed... and if any of my videos have been of interest to you so far, please consider joining the channel. Enjoy the Holiday Season!!!

    Thoughts on if a second coat is needed. Also does it have to ability to add stain to change color?

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings  3 роки тому +2

      I'm not sure about the "Add Stain" potential, I do believe they do have concrete staining products as well. And I will let you know about the second coat as well. It is holding up really good under traffic (turning tractors and jeeps around on it) however my GCs sub contractor drug sheets of plywood and drywall on edge along the floor and scuffed it up pretty good, so in at least one area I will try adding a 2nd coat. So far I have spilled (leaked) about every fluid that a 70 year old jeep likes to leak, and it wipes right up with a paper towel, does not seep through and stain.

    in other how-to type videos they are using an "etcher" to scuff up the floor prior to product application. is there a reason u didn't need to do it for this? i see in a previous comment u said it didn't need to be done for "new" concrete so what is it about older concrete that requires the etching step?

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings  2 роки тому

      That is a fantastic question… and one unfortunately I do not know the answer to. I called them as well to see how long I had to wait for it to cure, extremely friendly and accommodating, and I would recommend giving them a ring. Make sense if it was an acid to clean the surface of oil and grease etc, but to Rough Up the surface??

    • @DB-xp9px
      @DB-xp9px 2 роки тому +2

      @@TryNewThings from what i've gathered from watching countless videos, it seems the etchers are meant to both remove embedded particles/oils/dirt/etc as well as create a surface the sealer can easily/uniformly penetrate into. that said, there's videos where no etching is done, chemicals are used and then the physical etchers. leaves a beginner DIY confused by so much inconsistency.

    Thanks for the video! Couple questions... 1) How's it holding up to everyday traffic in your barn? 2) Any reason you chose this Supreme Seal over Gloss Coat?

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings  2 роки тому

      Thanks for your question. It has been in place out at the barn now for about 4-5 months. Since then I have driven over it extensively with dirty tractor tires, performed multiple point turns with the old Jeeps and Trucks, I have spilled nearly everything on it, gas, diesel, beer, hydraulic fluid, lots of mud, etc. So far it has held up very well, still beads water, spills are as simple to clean up as wipe them up with a rag (does not seep into the floor or stain). I would say it likely has lost a little of the luster it originally had after putting it on, but still has a shine to it. Why Supreme Seal over Gloss Coat? It is what I first saw and picked off the shelf (I had no good reason to pick it over the other). I really appreciate the comments and questions, and hope I have answered them OK. I am wondering how well it will hold up over time as well, and assumed I would at some time in the future (say every 2 years) end up re-applying a coat, but to early to tell just yet.

    • @TryNewThings
      @TryNewThings  2 місяці тому +1

      Short term pretty good, it has been a number of years now since I built the barn and I have found that without reapplying your level of protection wears off. Still, heck of a lot better even now that untreated, but does no longer prevent leak stains unless you are quite quick.

    • @trooper1822
      @trooper1822 2 місяці тому

      @TryNewThings thanks, sounds like a product I could use. It is hard to find any long-term durability updates on this product. If I have to reapply every few years, that's not too big of a deal.

    I used this. Swept vaccumed several times. Mopped several times. Used a buffer to Etch and clean. Used the stain and the sealer. It turned out Terrible. Such a waste of time and money. After 2 coats of this, letting it dry in between it still doesn't cover well. Looks like it doesn't have anything on it. When you order the product they dont give you you a tracking #. When my husband called and asked they just told him they didn't know. Tried to clean up some mud on it and it doesn't clean well. Scratches easily. Dont waste your Money!!!!

      If I do fall, and I get it on camera, it will definitely get to UA-cam. I have tripped and fallen over so many branches, vines, rocks etc, the barn is the safest place for me out there. It actually isn't slippery when dry, just shinny. Have not really had it wet to put that to the test yet Dave. Any more progress out at your little piece of heaven?
